They gave me such a scare!!!!!
 

My two naughty boys went missing.

Just at dark, when I was taking a boiled egg and cottage cheese to my pregnant momma, I noticed there were three dogs missing. Baylee, Beamer and Levi. They had escaped via the drift over the fence.

I immediately opened the garage door, turned on the light and started calling for them. No sign of them. I went inside to get my coat and a flashlight, and when I went back out Baylee was in the garage. But no sign of the boys.

I started walking down the driveway, calling for them, listening, calling some more, listening, shining the flashlight all around, hoping to catch their eye. Nothing.

The snow is deep so it did not pay for me to go tromping through the snow when I had no idea which direction to go.

Finally I hear a neighbor dog start barking, and then two very frightened screechy voices barking back. I took off across the field through the snow.

By the time I got there the neighbor had them in her arms, they were on her deck. They were so frightened they were not even squirming to get down.

I was sooooooooooooo happy to see them. Then I had to dfgo back throlugh the snow, this time uphill, carrying two dogs and a flashlight.

They were only gone for a half hour, but man it was a long half hour for me.

I am so glad they are home & safe. They don't realize how they can scared you to death, boys being boys. Big hugs to you!

Nothing is worse than that...not knowing where they are...and they were just there...thankfully you got them back...

What a scary experience, naughty Yorkies.... I would never let mine out without me being there, but I know a lot of people do and its usually OK. They are tricky guys walking up a snow drift to get over your fence! Our DC area snow is still powdery enought that they sunk into it, but this weekend we should get a nice re-frozen layer on top to make it a crunchy Yorkie supporting kind of snow - the kind they like.

OMG My heart was pounding reading your story! I'm so sorry they got out. I'm so happy that you found them safe and sound!!!! Bijou did the same thing to me on Halloween night and though paniced, I stopped and listened for her bell...it's amazing how quickly your natural instincts kick in! I'm sooooo glad that you stopped and listened! ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))

I promptly shoveled the drift off the fence as soon as everyone was home safe and sound, but did not want to do it until they were back in, just in case I had to give up my search and they would try to get back in the same way.

Tomorrow I will dig a mote along the fence.

Phew! My heart was racing as I was reading that. What a scary thing to have happen! Glad to hear it turned out for the best and all your little ones were returned to you safely.

Thank the stars above that are ok! One thing about these babies...they never give us a dull moment, and always find something to get into! I'm glad they are safe!:hug:

Sugar was missing for about 4 minutes last friday....the lil b*tch snuck under the fence :rolleyes: longest 4 minutes of my life :eek:

It is just that horrible, awful feeling that you get in your stomach the second you realize they are gone. And it's dark and it's cold and you start calculating how long can they last in this weather.

I will never cuss out that big dog again for barking. Well at least not for a day or two. :D

I heard that about him barking - thank God he did ! These little guys are soooo sneaky - i can just see them playing follow the leader then getting scared poor babies....:(

Those poor babies, and poor you! I know that scary feeling, luckily, mine has only lasted seconds not minutes. They are there and then... gone. I go into PANIC mode, thinking the worst.

I am so glad you got them back. Hopefully, this was as much adventure as they will need for a while.

Oh I was. I just keep thinking how glad I am that I kept looking. All the while I kept telling myself there was no way I was going to find them in the dark. But there I was no way I was going to give up until I was frozen.

I just kept thinking about all the missing dog stories on YT and just had to keep looking. We have cyotes. All those horrible visions go through your head.

I'm so happy everyone is in there warm little beds and I'm sure they are happy too.

Oh thank god u got them back safely.......... good news to hear that someone had them safe until u reached them....:D

As I sit here THANKFULLY feeling my baby breathe (and snore :rolleyes:) in her sleep :D

thank god. we're one of the lucky ones! my two yorkies sometimes escape also, i know the feeling.

Gosh that brings back the awful feeling i had last week. It was just a dream. No it was a nightmare that went like this....

I went down the street in my car to pick my boys up from school and we were just a few houses away from mine and I notice my front door wide open and one of my kids said "Mom, isnt that Sadie running that way". I stopped the car and took off running and my babies were nowhere to be found. I was running and SCREAMING their names, but I was pretty much running in circles trying to get some idea of where they had gone.

I woke up screaming their names with my heart racing and my furbrats were on top of me all excited :) It was an AWFUL dream, but I was so relieved.

I cant even imagine what went through your mind. So glad your babies are home safe and sound.

Crosley was out in our yard a few nights ago and didn't come back (our yard is fenced in) and when we went out, she was stuck in the snow and had fallen on her side! She always goes to the side of the yard where the snow drifts to the highest peak! :(
That was scary enough for me, so I can imagine how you must have felt knowing they were out of your yard!

Wow! I'm glad your neighbor grabbed them, otherwise they might run away trying to hide from the big dog :(

Well I think that is why they ran onto her deck, they were trying to run from the big dog, He was in a kennel, I'm sure it totally took them by surprise when he started barking and scared the bejeebers out of them. By that high pitched screech, I knew they were frightened. Just glad they ran onto the deck and not further away.

Hopefully they will think twice before they take off again.

I can't let mine out for that reason..the snow is so deep the go over the fence or if the break through I am afraid they will be buried.

That half hour must have felt like a lifetime! I think a few hairs turned gray on my head just thinking about it.
