total cost of both dogs was 3,295 dollars approx. my little angel who passed away was listed for 2500 originally. they gave us a "discount" for buying both dogs. And yes they claimed all their dogs came from reputable breeders- another lie that we were too native at the time to know otherwise. The breeder apparently lives in Missouri, breeding yorkies and papillons. They have over 98 dogs on premises in 2008 according to their usda report. I have heard the chances without legal rep. of winning in court is slim, I am contacting this animal attorney on monday to discuss this further and I refuse to let this one go and this heartless store get away with murder. If you could only hear how they talked to me about the situation, it would be any pet lover's heart skip a beat. They far from care about their pets, and I think it is time justice is served. |

Again - I'm sorry. Good luck with your case - I hope you do go after them ....They deserve that and more. |
If you can get a case I would SUE SUE SUE I hate petland! All the little babies there look sick to me. We had one here where I live and we had it closed down, so it is possible! Sorry to hear about Bentley though, that is so heartbreaking. XOXO from me and ZZ to you <3 |

IF all Petlands were to close - the mills would breed far fewer dogs which would be such a victory .....I realize they sell to more than pet stores - but Petland I believe is their biggest customer (based on what I've learned over the years) |
I'm SO sorry this has happened to you! I bought a cat from petland a few years ago and he was sick as well! After I did some research of petland and my cat i found out my poor cat has been sold for $75.00 at an auction then taken to petland. he came from a puppy mill...even though he's a cat! Again, I am so very sorry for your loss and hopefully you can fight back against petland! But please, next time you get an animal PLEASE adopt them from a local animal shelter! Petland probably bought your pups for $100 and sold them to you for A LOT of money and that only helps fund them and the awful puppy mills! |

Yes we are a relatively small town. The lady that run the place was always run down and dirty. I would go in there to look at the dogs and the puppies were usually always sleeping.. Odd? Yeah for the most part, puppies play. They didn't have food and water down on the floor of they were in the show room, they were dirty and smelled really bad. Some days she wouldn't even let you go back there to play with the puppies. The cost for a female puppy ran about 1,800. Males around 900. My friend, hard headed as ..you know what bought one anyways, a female. It got sick with parvo (supposedly had shots and wormings done) she spent over 2,000 trying to get her well and she did, luckily, she kept all the papers that ever came with that dog and we all went to court and they shut them down the next week and the lady is in jail for 3 more years without bond or parole. As my neighbor said "She is better off in jail." And she is, she knows what she did. Petland can go to...the hot place with gasoline draws as far as I am concerned, I hate them. Always go to a reputable breeder, see all their dogs and where they are raised (inside or outside). How does the mother look? Puppies playing? There are signs of sickness, always keep your eyes open! I really hope you win your case, that would be wonderful! |
Grrrrrrrr... Make me sick! Pet store have to stop selling pet. Sorry for your lost and good luck with every thing. |
I know the story... I just don't understand why Petland still exist after so many complaints :( Is baby Jack doing fine? :) |
I'm sorry to hear this and I hope it helps anyone considering buying a pet, to know to NOT buy from Petland or any other pet store! There is a big Petland attached to this gigantic grocery store called Jungle Jims not too far from where I live! I keep hoping it gets shut down!! |
Sorry to hear about all this. My brother had a run in with petland a few years ago. Finally all they gave him was store credit.. |
Jack is doing better thank you. -no more parasites, URi is gone for the most part- he still sneezes once in a while. He is gaining weight and is a playful guy with plenty of personality. I am outraged..once again at what I learned yesterday Apparently the vet petaled told me to go to... the one my puppy died at...I found out a couple had two dogs (both sick)- one bought the puppy to the vet i saw and the other to another vet. the puppy who saw the same vet i did, died and the other dog at the other vet lived. Coincidence? I don't think so and my bad feeling with the vet I think was right. It makes me sick to think if i had brought my puppies elsewhere, both would still be with us today. I cant help but feel responsible, I should have gone with my gut feeling. Any vet who works with a petstore is not a good one. |

I am so sorry for your loss :( We have a PetLand in my area, about 10 minutes from my house. We've never purchased a puppy, but at one point (before I had educated myself) we seriously thought about it. Thinking back now, I remember that most of the puppies looked sickly and were asleep most of the time. Some of them defecated right there in their cages, and most of the time it looked like diarrhea. Pet stores and puppy mills must be stopped!!! |
Sorry for your loss! You know now where your puppies came from, and it what condition they were sold to you. The most important thing you can do besides file a civil suit is to tell everyone who will listen to you about your story!! And I do mean everyone. Even if that means protesting in front of the store; or talking to everyone in the store looking at puppies. The more people realize that buying from pet stores is in its very essence supporting puppy-mils; then the better off all animals will be! |
