suggestions for grooming style? 3 Attachment(s) Sophie is starting to look like a cross between a rat and a little old man! She has super fine hair and I'm having a really hard time finding a grooming style that might work for her. I see such gorgeous furbabies here on YT, but she'll just never have their full, fluffy coats to work with. Does anyone have any photos/suggestions for grooming styles for furbabies with fine hair? I've scoured the Internet, but all the photos I find are for grooming Yorkies with full coats. Any suggests/photos would be really appreciated... my baby can't continue looking like a sweet little rodent! :D |
I don't have any photos, but just wanted to say that she is so cute!! I have just the opposite. 2 of mine have REALLY thick hair that is sooo hard to keep tangle free. |
Probably not helpful but I just have to say that I think your baby is beautiful and I wouldn't change a thing. She is just in that awkward stage of growing out. |

She is darling! Are you planning to keep her in a full coat, or do you want a puppy cut? If you want a puppy cut, I'd suggest cutting her beard shorter, and generally following the shape of her face on the way up. I think wider whiskers = rounder face = more feminine look. For the rest of the body, you can cut the body to leave about an inch hanging, and then cut around the "elbows" and paws. You should also cut the hair around her anus very short, for obvious reasons. ;) This is how I cut Thor, anyway. I'm by no means an expert. You can also find a good groomer in your area, and see if they can give you a cut you like. There are also videos in the Grooming section on how to groom your yorkie. :) |
I can't add anything either. She is just a doll baby and reminds me of my Jack. I wouldn't change anything about her. :D |
Your Sophie is similar to my Sophie, and I'm trying to grow my Sophie's coat a little longer before I start trimming it. I'm not really going for a full coat but almost. We've got carpet and cloth furniture so I know that's not the best for wanting to grow a full coat due to the damage it can do to the hair, but I just try to keep her as clean and well groomed as I can. She's in the awkward scrappy stage right now, but I'm hoping it will get better. I use 4 different Chris Christensen products on her when I bathe her and the groomer only trims her ears, bum, and the bottoms of her feet. |
I wouldn't change a thing. She's a doll |
I think she is adorable too. I hope Missy looks that good when her coat grows out. I would be very happy. :) |

Oh she is so beautiful. My baby has a very fine coat to and in the rat look right now. She looks like she has eyebrows that stick out over her eyes and not long enough to put in a bow. I wouldn't change anything unless you just want a shorter look. She is gorgeous to me. I like her look.:D |
whatever the length, that is one beautiful, healthy, shiny coat.... gorgeous! |
1 Attachment(s) She is so cute! My Pixie has a very fine thin coat but when grown out it looks very pretty. I do keep her head hair short and spiked on top. |
my sophie was in that stage too and for some reason I loved it. its not long or short just in between. i have her groomed so that it doesn't look shaggy every 6 weeks. right now it keeps her warmer than a puppy cut and might I add your baby is so very pretty!!:) |
I wish someone would try dreadlocks - I want to see it on a yorkie! |
