Angry at Breeder
 

I posted awhile back saying that my lil guy had some "dry patches". I took him to the vet and guess what? RING WORM. The breeder told us he had taken him to the vet for his puppy checkup and the vet said it was just "dry skin" told us to bathe him once a week etc. Well we told the vet our story and our vet called the breeders vet and the breeders vet told us that he had told the breeder that he had ring worn and the breeder declined treatment for him. The breeders vet also told our vet that he had seen 4 other puppies from the same breeder and they also had ring worm. My husband and I both ended up getting it and it has cost us a small fortune trying to get his skin cleared up. He has several large patches of fur missing. This upsets me because I trusted them. They seemed nice and sincere and honest. I still would have bought Rocco, I just would have taken him to the vet sooner. I have emailed and called this breeder several times but no answer or reply. To me it has NOTHING to do with the money it's that he LIED flat out lied. Rocco gets a bath everyday with a special anti-fungal shampoo, he's been on 2 different anti-biotics and we are starting a third one today, and some stinky drops that i have to try to put on all the patches....... I feel like I am torturing just trying to get him better. I just don't understand why he flat out lied. Sorry for the rant but I just don't understand some ppl now days.

Sorry you have that problem and the breeder is greedy. Make sure you let others know what happened to you.

Also Try TeaTree Oil Shampoo & Cond. You can get it in oil form but you need to dilute it for your baby. Works great on ring worm. (its a fungus not a worm)

Oh my....:( That is awful!! For all 3 of you! I honestly don't understand how people can be so sweet and nice to others when knowing all along they are gonna stick it to you....Grrrrrr
I hate dishonest people!! I know hate is a strong word but the feeling of being done wrong is strong too....to bad everyone wasn't like the caring folks here on YT...LOL

Some people just breed for the wrong reasons...At least Rocco is on his way to getting better.

BTW, love his name. I debated between Rocco & Maxililian for my dog, but my daugher chose the name Max. :)

That is so messed up! I am so sorry for you and your fur baby! I would send a letter to the breeder since you can't contact them.

SOOO.. tell us all the name of this breeder and we will give him ALL the Bad advertising he could hope for and more.Lets stick it to this scumbag !

I think since he flat out lied to your face, you should out him and let other people know who this person is and avoid them at all costs!

Your poor baby, I hope he gets well soon.

I'm so sorry for what all of you have to go through but at least your baby has a good home.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. At least your dog now has a caring owner. Did i understand it correctly and you and your husband also have the ring worm on yourselves now?

Hi I'm new and I just wanted you to know that ath1etes foot cream wi11 work on ring worm. For yourse1f and the pup. My ex's boss used to bring his dog to work and he gave it to the who1e office. Boss ended up buying a case and handing it out to a11 the emp1oyees worked 1ike a charm.

Ringworm is highly contagious and can be transmitted between humans and their pets. Wrestlers are known to contract it from the wrestling mats if they are not sanitized properly after use.

My advice to you is to get the puppy's records from the previous vet and SUE this breeder for both your medical costs and the cost of treating the puppy too.

This the second time this week that I have heard of a puppy having ringworm coming from a breeder. If the puppies all had ringworm they HAD to have got it from the mother~so my question would be if this breeder did not want to treat the puppies what kind of vet care if this person providing to the mother? The thought make me just sick :mad: Did you see the parents of the puppies? Where did you purchase this puppy from? :confused:

I agree....make sure you get copies of all vet records and then keep excellent records of the treatment and take them to small claims court. You won't need a lawyer etc and you just present your facts .....

You really would also be helping future puppies so they don't have to suffer with this.

Totally agree! Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection that crosses species; and once infected, it is extremely hard to eliminate.

This person you purchased your puppy from is No friend or ethical breeder.
Sure, fungal infections can be acquired under the most careful conditions, but the key factor here is that the breeder was informed by a medical person, and they declined treatment. I would go to her house and have documentation of the treatment and tell her that I expect reimbursement.
I would also put her name out here to warn others of her unethical practices.:( Totally disgusted with people like that.....

I wouldn't go to the house...people that are such scum bags that would ignore treating a helpless puppy would do just about anything...take it to small claims...much safer.

I'm so sorry this happened to you and your fur baby. It's so sad that some breeders would do anything just to sell a puppy.

I see that you live in Maineville, we live close! We actually use a groomer in the Landen/Maineville area.
I also would be interested in knowing the breeder's name, since we are in the same general area. I'm so sorry that happened to you!

I did see the parents of the puppies. They both looked very healthy. The mom weighed around 5 lbs. and the dad weighed 3. The Breeders name is DAN B Breeders.

Yes we too are getting over ring worm. I tried the athletes foot cream but it wasn't strong enough it didn't help at all.

I feel awful giving him a bath every day, blow drying him because its so dag on cold, the drops I put on him must sting a bit because he squirms trying to get away when they hit his skin. As soon as he hears that water running he lies flat on the floor with his head tucked between his front paws like he's hiding. lol. He does like the oral meds. that I give him twice a day.

I do have a letter from the breeders vet stating that he did do a puppy check on him and that he told him he had ring worm and that he declined the care.

It's not so much about the money as it is that he flat out lied to me. We just started a new anti biotic yesterday and I don't think he is tolerating it very well. He seems very gassy (stinky stinky) and his stool is much softer.

Sad to say it is usually only $$$ that will straighten out a poor breeder and you will be saving future puppies from this awful experience if you take them to small claims court.

This is something else that you need to be aware of is that when you go into the dog breeding world LIES tend to be more the normal (not all breeders) because the breeders can get away with it.

If you can you should scan the vet letter into this thread so if people do a search on these breeders your information will come up.

I think this is a great idea. Other people need to be warned about this guy. I would definitely take him to court. It's not always about you getting your money back, it's about making HIM know you are not going to take that crap from him.

It's also great that HIS vet is cooperating with you. Sometimes these bad breeders find bad vets and they work together. You will win this case. Gook luck. Hope your little guy gets well very soon.

Glad you wrote this ... because this is one more of those lies in the breeder world..."The vet checked the puppies and all are healthy"...some vets will lie because the breeders are a continued paycheck for them. Good point:thumbup:

Amazing what breeders will do and say just to sell and make money. So sad. I got a male and the breeder even mentioned a lady who wanted to breed her dog with him. Then only one testicle descended and I ended up paying a pretty penny. When I called her and asked if she would help pay for it, she said the common thing. You can bring him back if you want to get your money back. Then she said something to the fact, if I'd have know you only wanted him for breeding purposes, I wouldn't have sold him to you.:eek:

It was very invasive surgery getting to the testicle inside or I wouldn't have asked her. The vet said it is probably in the lineage somewhere. Well, I love him, and don't care if he can't breed now. He is by baby.

You really need to do research on these breeders. It's best if you can get referrals.

The mans name that sold us Rocco was Douglas Sizemore. The info. we were given to register him AKC said Dan B Breeders....

I am taking him to small claims court. It\'s more principle than anything else.

I love him regardless and he has brought me a million smiles.
