It took me a year to find a groomer I love! The first 2 or 3 were disasters! The 2nd one said she HAD to be shaved due to matting. I allowed it but I think she went a little shorter than necessary and it took FOREVER to grow back out. Unfortunately Gabbi has one of those black coats that is very prone to matting. I finally found a groomer close to home who has a special brush that cuts thru matting and I'm so pleased! I will be able to purchase the brush and do it myself! Go to your local vets and ask them if they can recommend someone based on their clients' reviews. Otherwise, make sure you see pictures and/or get references from a groomer. Don't give up! Best of luck! |
Hi, I took two pictures of what I wanted. Our groomer did great. |
hi, i think he looks very handsome. My toby goes for his first cut on Tuesday,he looks very much like your Duke. |
do we really need to cut their hair I am a first time yorkie owner. My baby is 9 months old now wow, some of you have had awful experiences with the groomers Do we need to cut their hair? I would like mine to have the long coat (to the floor or just above) Why does anyone want them to look like a schnauzer or something. It is really difficult to grow their hair & keep them looking nice? How old should they be for the first grooming? I trim his hair around his eyes (sort of on the nose) because it keeps poking him in the eyes, I also keep his rear end trimmed but I don't really want to cut his hair off. I want him to look like a Yorkie. I have heard that the ear hairs may need plucking, and the foot pads trimmed, but how do you know when to do this? Thanks, I'm new to YT |
We have and appointment at a new groomer next Thursday. I had actually forgotten about here as I had used her years ago just for a bath/brush on a lab. She is very nice and wants him to come in for two appointments to get him used to things so as not to traumatize him. She gets very good ratings and has groomed some show dogs. Not sure what a cut will be, but just for a bath/brush and clean up inbetween cuts (or should I say trims) she said it would be $12. With a tip that is still and awesome price!! I'm still annoyed the last groomer cut the hair over his eyes short. Good thing it will grow back. I'm looking forward to his long beautiful coat. :) |
