Rub her nose in it! 1 Attachment(s) My husband's friend came by last night to pick up some tools for work (they do demolition). While he was sitting on the couch yappin', Dora came into the living room and peed on the corner of a sheet that was hanging onto the ground off of my kids "fort". She's only 13 weeks old, so she tends to think any mat, towel, or blanket on the floor is a pee pad. Well this guy bent over, picked Dora up, and went to rub her nose in the pee! I FREAKED!!! I stopped him when her nose was just about to touch the pee, and I went up one side of him and down the other. My husband was stunned, because he hadn't seen what happened. He just walked into the room with his mouth wide open. I'm normally a very nice, calm person...but don't mess with my yorkies man!!! After I stopped him, "the friend" went on lecturing me about how "that's what I had to do, and I didn't know how to train my dog. She's never going to understand if you don't rub her nose in it". I was shocked  First of all, who takes it upon themself to discipline someone else's dog? This guy has only been in my home twice before. Second, are there really still people in this world that train their dog like that? Then he proceeded to tell me that I had to toughen up. Like when his dog (a huge 140 lb dog) use to dig holes in the yard, he filled it with water and stuck his head under the water until he was choking and couldn't breath. THAT made me sick to my stomache! Needless to say, he will never be welcome in MY home again, Missy (my 15 month old) didn't like him anyways :p Thankfully, my husband totally understands how I feel, and now thinks "his friend" is an IDIOT. Thankfully my little happy-go-lucky Dora came through the whole ordeal completely oblivious to the fact that anything had happened. :) |
what a clueless individual!!! sadly sounds like some of my family... |
I wish your furbaby would have peed on him! |
OMG! Glad you were watching and reacted so quickly! Yes, there are still Neanderthals in this world! Little Dora's just a little cutie... that is so cute she's thinking any mat, towel or blanket is a peepad. What a smart little girl! :D |
It's not as cute when they are 2 years old and still do it... lol. Toby my pom mix still thinks anything on the floor is fair game. Not fun. |
I can't believe he tried to drown his dog! OMG |

I would have went off on the moron  I think people have no idea times have changed and there are better ways of teaching now. Your baby would have learned ZERO from that "Lesson" . How dare he  Just don't ever let him in your home again :p Sorry this all happened. :( |

We were very careful not to throw papers on the floor after that :D |
thats how my family trains their dogs also |
I was told to rub Sophie Kates nose in it also. Thankfully I ignored that advice, that just does not sound like good advice to me. |
What a jerk! I'm glad you really gave it to him! These people shouldn't be allowed to have dogs  |
Good for you! You are a good mommy to stand up for your little one. Glad to hear your dh is with you on this. |
That would be the last time the S.O.B. came into my house. Any trainer worth their salt will tell you not to rub their nose in it. The dog will think you are mad because it went potty not because it went in the wrong place. |

and for that idiot pushing his dogs face into water ? THAT IS CRUEL and abusive. I can't believe how people treat their pets |
I'd be PISSED! What a jerk. I hate when people try to tell me how to "train" my dog. My step-dad has a friend like this who is constantly telling me what I'm doing wrong (whatever, Jackson's more well behaved and trained than this guy is). People make me mad. |
Glad you were there to stop him. Your baby is adorable. |

Wow, I can't believe the nerve of that guy! I would have totally freaked if someone tried to do that to Bailey!! Some people are just ignorant unfortutnately:rolleyes: I'm glad you walked in when you did and he didn't get to do that to Dora! |
Thats your puppy! Why would he think he can discipline your puppy in the first place. Its like parenting skin-kids. Everyone has a different philosophy but either way hands off! |

Sadly this seems to still be the mentality of some people. Even my husband had to be told not to do that, even though as a child that is what they did with their dogs. He just left the potty training up to me, smart man. She is doing really well on the positive reinforcement training and is actually doing better than some folks dogs who still use that method. I can not imagine shoving any puppies face in their own feces, not sure what exactly that accomplishes? |
Thanks everyone! Quote:
Thanks everyone who has said how cute Dora is. I always love to hear that :) Also, thanks for letting me vent...I knew that you guys would understand where I was coming from. |
I say stalk the individual to the doc's office, wait for him to pee in a cup and throw it in his face!!! Someone should've trained him to mind his own business! What an A-hole for trying to correct your furbaby!!! Drowning his dog 'cause he was digging holes? Sicko! My neighbor almost got kicked in the throat (crouching tiger, hidden yorkie mama style) by me when she grabbed a sock while Ares was chewing it, and lifting him off the ground! I grabbed him and kicked her the hell out! I agree, don't "F" with my babies Skin or Fur! |
 I'm so glad that you were able to keep him from doing that to her. She would have never understood what was going on except that she was being tortured. :( Poor baby. I just don't understand why people think that way. And as for sticking his dogs head in the water...???? All this does is make the dog afraid of water as well as the owner...in my opinion-along the lines of animal abuse. |

Pulled outa gun huh??? I cant stop cracking up.. Your too funny |
Some people just never change, but would I correct some-one elses dog? Yes, I correct my sisters two all the time if they get over excited and jump on me, and yesterday I corrected some guys boxer who decided my two were toys and tried to pounce on them. The owner made no attempt to stop his dog bso when he went to jump on them I grabbed his collar and told him ''no''. Only then did the idiot who owned him decide to call him. |

Oops, Sorry for the misunderstanding, either way I'm glad you stopped him before he got a chance to do it!! |
