I am not always a big fan of Cesar Milan's methods, however one of the things he tries to stress is dog first, then breed, then name. People must always remember that small dogs are still dogs. Many of the problems that small dogs have are that they are so darn cute that we forget that they are still dogs. We carry them around and coddle them like they were children. I am a breeder with a pack of seven and if I forgot that they were dogs, total chaos would erupt in my house. The best behaved small dogs that I ever had were when my children were small and I didn't have time to coddle them. He mostly stresses that there has to be rules and that we have to stick with them and I sure don't see anything wrong with that. |
i dont like his training methods i cant get them to work i like stillwells methods i feel they work better(for me) however im sure that cesar milan would not put a dog in danger any dog and as for the pitts my aunt has a pit that will terrerize (not hurt) any other pet she gets but when i bring gatsby in the house he cries and cries until i get on the floor with him (i will not let them play alone) he loves to play with gatsby because he knows that he is leaveing soon but other then that bug is a great dog pitt or not my aunt got him because she lives in a bad neighbor hood and she wanted people to think she had a big mean dog so they would not break in and he house has not been broken into once sience she got her pitt and he would never hurt a person but the fear is enoph to keep her safe |

There is a post in here about being mean and rude...just in case that was directed at me.... All I am trying to get across is that:: PLEASE DON'T MAKE SUCH BLANKET STATEMENTS ABOUT HATING A BREED OF DOG. Nobody would put up with it if I stated on here "I HATE ALL BLACKS,MEXICANS,WHITES," whatever. Yes, they are trying to do breed specific laws. Just like when women and blacks could not vote. In so many ways, we are going backwards in laws pertaining to our animals: which in many ways are family members. If the breed of dog bites, attacks, kills..the owner is at fault...MAKE THE OWNER PAY!! Not just financially, but work in a animal shelter, vet office. Hopefully they are animal lovers, and see the damage of what can happen if you do not take care of the breed. (financial responsibility also) Just PLEASE: think about what is said... I understand that "you" may not ever own a pitty. I probably will never own a pitty. I just say that I can't because it is too much dog for me. I do not have the time or patience for them. Not because I hate them and anyone that owns them. Just like the Greyhounds....I am able to have the 3 itty bitty littles, because I KNOW MY DOGS!!! I also try not to judge anyone that owns them either. If you have the knowledge, and time, and patience...YEAHHHH. Another DOG has a home!! Just so you know, here is a list of dogs that I will probably never own: or own again. Chow, German Shepherd, Rotty, any mastiff, and list goes on. Oh, and another Doxie. Love the doxie, BUT in my experience the barking is more than I can do anymore. **had 5 doxies over my lifetime. |
Yup one bite and its all over[/QUOTE] One bite from a Lab, GSD, Dobie, Rottie etc and it can be fatal...I know people whose Yorkies have killed other Yorkies.. |

I have to agree... Ares is so cute I forget about dog, breed, ect. I find myself torn when it comes to sticking to a program. I am however working everyday with Ares and Tank to ensure that I try to meet their needs! With my maltipoo I made the same mistake in the past, but with Ares & Tank I strive everyday to meet their needs! I even allow Ares to dig... lol his little nose is always to the ground. With Tank he "boxes" with nose our kid's ball! |

But when you start giving in to the dogs demands, or letting it chew on you or hump you, then you are not the leader and the dog will take over if it is an alpha or become neurotic if it is a submissive dog. It is just like raising a houseful of kids. I raised 6 children, as a single mother. the kids had to know that I was still in charge even when I was at ork or I would have lost all colntrol. I might say I did a better job of raising my kids while I was at work, than many of my neighbrs did when they were right there at home. There is a difference between spoiling a child/dog with love, and allowing them to take over. I have 8 dogs, someone has to be in charge, and it's going to be me. :D |

Cesar's philosophy is exercise, discipline and affection. In that order, so as long as you do the other two you can cuddle all you want. People seem to judge him without really knowing what he's really teaching. |

While I am NOT a fan of his, I would not attack his character. He obviously loves all animals :) |
