Where does your yorkie sleep? Rambo has been doing good sleeping in the kitchen. Until this week. He now cries almost evey night. We have been told that it is because he knows we are in our room and that is where he wants to sleep. We have no problem with this except that every morning when he would sleep in the kitchen we would have to clean poo and pee off of the ground. I am worried that if we let him sleep in our bedroom that he will poo and pee everywhere. He does go on his pee pee pads in the kitchen when hes in there, but he also goes on the floor. I dunno what to do. What do you guys think? |
How old is he? Cosmo sleeps in my bed with me he just whines when he wants down and goes to his pad. He has been doing this since about 3 months old and he is now 7 months. BTW, welcome to yt. |
I a crate cause they still aren't potty trained. They are directly in front of the chimney. |
Dinero sleeps with us...for the same reason..he cried...and we couldn't sleep!! |
Rowdy slept in his crate for the first few months. He would yip if he needed to go out during the night. Later though, he didn't yip to go out, he could hold it all night long. Then my hubby wanted him to sleep with us but I worried that I would roll on him or that he would potty in the bed, since he had a bigger place to go than in the kennel. Well, I'm happy to report that neither of these things happened. I did worry ALOT at first that I would roll on him - but finally I relaxed and now he usually sleeps between our pillows at the head of the bed (last night he actually spooned my head - I had a Rowdy cap - and I had to move him because I was SWEATING). He's been in bed with us for a couple of months now and no accidents! :D |
Our girls never pood or peed in the bedroom. We were told that dog don't go in their own sleeping place. Your little one doing it in the kitchen is probably loneliness or stress from being apart from the flock... So I wouldn't worry about poo or pee, but more about how much of the beds yorkies are able to steal away once they first get in there :) My girls sleep next to me, tight up against me or on me. Mare loves to sleep on my hip, I guess she can feel the warmth and my heart. :) |
Mojo sleeps in his own room and his own bed where he kindly let's me share with him!!! |
I'm lucky that my two yorkies let me sleep in the bed with them. <<big grin>> Talk about bed hogs!!! Geesh. For them to be so little, they take up a lot of room!! |
My Ginger sleeps in the bed with my husband & me. She prefers to be next to me, & loves to cuddle. |
Bailey sleeps in his crate in our 2nd bedroom. I'd love to have him sleep with us in bed but my fiance won't allow it. He's worried about him going to the bathroom in bed & being woken up by Bailey. |
Tucker sleeps with my mom. He has been since a few days after we got him. he isn't house broken, but never goes potty on the bed. |

Hes only 12 weeks old. So maybe its to early? |
I started letting Indiana sleep in the bed with us when I found out he had a liver shunt. He had been sleeping in the crate on the floor next to me and was sleeping nicely through the night with no accidents but my husband said no more dogs on the bed. Kansas (my Jack) sleeps only at the foot of the bed on top of the pillows I throw there. She is the THE QUEEN and must have a high place to survey her kingdom and other doggy subjects. She doesn't cuddle or snuggle. When I found out Indy was sick I decided that if he didn't have much longer to live he was going to get to sleep on the bed with us. I put his belly band on him just in case, but he hasn't needed it. He sleeps cuddled up between us. Now that he's had the surgery and hopefully will be fine, I don't have the heart to put him back in his crate! |
In my bed. |
We've got two in our bed and two pups in our kitchen but are going to start transitioning the pups to our bed. I just prefer them there and they are so pitiful when the lights go out in the kitchen and I shut the door:( They follow and look at you like..."why can't I come in there" :( I just like having ours have free roam of the house. It makes me happier and them too :) |
If I were single I might let Edgar sleep with Mommy. However, I sort of cherish my "alone time" with Daddy. So he sleeps on the floor in our bedroom(in the bed that used to be the cat's). He has only peed once in there on a pee-pad I had for puppy emergency use on the tile. Now I don't need the pad. We're a happy family! |
Tigger sleeps in bed with my boyfriend and I. He has since the first night we got him at 10 weeks old. we put his bed between our pillows and give him a soft toy to chew on, and we have an industrial paper clip that we connect to the top of our headboard with his leash. we give the leash enough slack to allow Tigger to get to the end of his bed but no further. Whenever he would move or make a sound we would take him outside. The first couple of nights we didn't do the whole leash bit, and he had a couple pee accidents in bed, but then we got smart and did the leash bit. He's never been in his crate really but on his terms, and one other time that we tested out. |
Snickers sleeps in our room with Sky and Jasmine on the floor at the foot of the bed. Its a maze if you have to get up during the night for any reason. |
lexi sleeps with her mommy, me. she has to make sure she touches me. |
Baili starts out going to bed with us, then jumps down and sleeps under the bed until about 4:00 in the am. We hear this little yip and we pick her up and back in bed with us! My husband was the one who brought her to bed with us the first night she cried. She was about 14 weeks old. She has only had one accident in our bed and that was in the very beginning. SHe is 14 days shy of 2 years old! |
We sleep in Princess's king size bed. She takes up all the room for being so small. It's nice of her to share with us. She let us know from day one, only 12 weeks old, She's the Princess of the house, and it's going to be her way all the way. She's now 2 and things haven't changed. :) |
Jo and Riley both sleep in the bed but, for now, Riley is still in his kennel...the bed is king sized so there's plenty of room. Jo sleeps all night and now that Riley is down to one potty break at about 6:30 a.m. I'll take him out of the kennel. To be honest...me and my husband get up more than the boys do :embarasse but we try not to disturb them...maybe I should quit drinking that big glass of water right at bedtime  |
Bia sleeps with me in my bed at night, she will not have it any other way!!..She also can jump off and on my bed to use the pee pad I have in the room for her, but most of the time she sleeps through the night. I have read that yorkies will keep their sleeping space clean I dont know if thats true, but it seems to be with Bia. |
My husband and I were just talking about this the other day. All the boys sleep on the bed plus the 2 cats! We were joking that we're going to get an extra twin bed and put it next to our king size bed and them maybe that will be enough? But I know, that Jack and I would probably be the ones on the twin bed  ... |
Bender sleeps in bed with us. We never had a problem with him peeing on the bed except in the beginning. We found out the problem was that the mattress was pretty nasty (it was from the person in the apartment before us), and I guess he was smelling all the old smells and thinking he need to refresh them. Once we got a new mattress we didn't have a problem. If there's a problem with the puppy getting on and off the bed for pottying and you still want him to be able to sleep with you, then there is always the option of doggy stairs/ramp up to the bed. :animal36 |
Bailey has slept with me in bed, since the day I got him, I have never had a problem with him going. When he was too little to jump, he would whine, so I knew it was time to go out. Now if he jumps off the bed, I know he has to go out. I will say he is a HOGGER, in the bedroom. |
Both of my yorkies have slept with me since the night they came home, not once did I have an accident. Having them in the bed was like having a new born baby, as soon as they woke up I'd wake up and if they looked like they wanted to potty I rushed them to the potty pads. They are both 1yr old now and sleep comfortably through the night. I think you should let your yorkie sleep with you and give it a try, I am sure you will all sleep comfortably ;) |
Miko has two doggie beds that he used to alternate sleeping in at night. Ever since he was operated on for his liver shunt (a few months ago, right after his 1st birthday) he has slept with us on our bed. He sleeps on my head, between my head and my husband's head, or curled up around my neck. He's so absolutely sweet! :) We also put an ottoman at the foot of the bed so he can get up and down in case he needs to go potty on his pad or if he wants to sleep on his beds for a little while. |
Both of ours sleep with us in bed at night but they are 7 and 8 months old. |
Dudley has slept in our bed since the day we brought him home. My husband wouldn't think of making him sleep in his crate. He never had an accident in the bed, even though he was only 12 weeks old. |
