pet supply stores Just wondering if you shop at Petco or Petsmart. I have been going to Petsmart but they just opened a Petco near us. Went once but did not really have time to look around. Which do you prefer to shop at for your baby's needs? I am all for lower prices. :D |

There are other online stores that have lower prices for ordering. Here are a few: Revivalanimal.com JBPets.com Petedge.com drsfosterandsmith.com entirelypets.com As far as food, if you only have one yorkie, your best bet is a store such as Petsmart. |
Not that I have been at this long but I prefer Petco for foods, they seem to have the better premium foods(at least in my area). I really do not care for the animals like mice/guinea pigs/birds that look so sad and probably come from rodent mills or bird mills that Petsmart has. We were alking through Petsmart the other day and the poor parrot just follwed us back and forth and tilting his head as if to say help me. Petco only has local shelter animals in the building, again at least here anyway. This is of course just my opinion. |
Petsmart has more clothes and toys and such. but I prefer Petco for other things and for the Petco club benefits. |
Depends on what I'm getting. Petco has more healthy foods and treats so I generally go there to pick up treats. I'd say I go half/half. I also go to our local Pet Valu which has healthier foods, treats, etc, they carry more of the better brands and cheaper bully sticks. Butttt, more often than not, I'm shopping online trying to find the best deals ;) |
I've shopped at both. The Petco store is closer and I purchase Sophie's food and treats there and her winter coat came from Petco. I agree with a previous poster that I don't want to see the other animals in cages like at Petsmart but Petsmart does have a wider variety of toys and some other things. If I can get what I want at Petco I'll go there first. We have a nice pet boutique called Must Love Dogs here but I only shop there once in a while for t-shirts because they are quite pricey. |
I like both stores for different things. The PetsMart is closer to me though so that's where I buy Troy's food. Treats I buy from a local Barkery called Taj Ma Hound and I usually by toys and things from the internet (jbpet, petedge, ebay, etc). Clothes and collars all internet buys since I find a variety and usually I find exactly what I'm looking for. Have fun with shopping for your little one. |
I like petco and Petsmart for different reasons but find myself at Petsmart more often because I go in there for fish supplies |
Hmmmm, our Petco is crowded and messy and unorganized, so I don't go there very often but I need to change up some food so I may have to go back and check them out!! |
I shop in neither. I use to get Buddy groomed, when he was a puppy at Petco but when the nice groomer left so did I. We have Petco and Petsmark on the same street but I don't care for their products. I shop at a family run pet store which carries all high end products. Out of the two above I don't care for Petsmark at all! . |

I like Petco for their food and treats since they have a bigger selection beyond the normal junk food type deal. I also love their Pals card, and their sales/pals sales tend to be really good. |
I love pet supermarket .they have the high end food and on sale . Pet supermarket send me coupon almost every month. PetSupermarket.com | PetScoop! Here is this month coupon . I hope it works .I add it from my phone. Happy Holidays.... |
I prefer Petco. They have redone all the ones in my area, and they all carry Wellness, Orijen, TOTW, etc, the good stuff. I don't see that at Petsmart. Petco also has cuter clothes. I don't like how Petsmart displays their clothes. I've never bought one piece of clothing from Petsmart. Petco also has the by 10 bags get one free deal, but their cost per bag may be $1 more or so, so I guess that evens out. Also, my dad is into fish. I buy some for him once in a while. Petco has the exotic saltwater kind. Petsmart has lots of dead floating ones. |

I shop at boutiques.........I like to support my local businesses..... plus there is such cuter stuff at boutiques than at the big chain pet stores. I also get a lot of stuff on ebay. I also feed my pups specialty food, so I cannot get it at petco or petsmart so I jsut really have no need to go there. There are SOOO many cute little boutiqe dog stores now a days.... I can't resist! |

Ahhh the one on La Cienega is AMAZING! I just went for the first time last week. Their prices were not crazy. They have very very nice things! And I am assuming you are talking about Orange Bone on Melrose? THat one is really cute, but pretty pricey. My favorite is actually in Studio City and it is called Maxwell Dog. It is on Ventura Blvd just west of Laurel Canyon.... Its great and the owner is a sweetheart! Where is your shop??? |

Yes I was talking about Orange Bone. It's a cool idea, having a pet shop with rescue dogs, but I wondered how they could afford the high overhead there on Melrose. Their shirts and stuff are so expensive. The tshirt i just kind of liked was $45. I never go past Hollywood really, so never in the "valley" side, I guess it's called. So far for me, I'm in Anaheim. My shop is in Anaheim Hills, almost the border betwn Yorba Linda and Corona. People around her have money, but no one is spending. :( |
Well next time we are down there.... probably when we go to Disneyland maybe we will come in!!! Orange bone is a great concept..... but I think it sucks that they charge so much to adopt rescue dogs. Its woderful that they are getting them adopted, but we went in there when we were shopping for our new baby and they are still realllllly expenseive to adopt, when you can go to the shelter and adopt for $30.00 Maxwell dog is really really great-- if you ever venture into the valley you NEED to check it out. It's just on Ventura, so its not like deep in the valley haha. What is your boutique called? |
Imperial Gifts, it's a women's boutique, purses, glasses, some clothes, nothing fancy. Business stinks. |
I'm sorry- it's such a hard time! I hope things pick up for you! |
I like Petco the one in my area is cleaner and I feed Bailey Halo and they do not have that at my petsmart i took her to see santa at petco and half the money went to the dog shelter which made it fun you can feel good about. I also love to shop online so many choices! |
In our area Petsmart has adoption days for the local shelters, Petco does not. Also, several times we've gone shopping for items and priced at both and Petco is usually priced way higher on the same items as Petsmart, sooo we go to Petsmart. |
Petco has better sales usually, but I prefer Pet Supermarket to both Petco and Petsmart. Pet Supermarket's prices are sometimes HALF of what Petco/Petsmart are charging, so I always go there first. I get my EVO from Lukes (they advertise on here..but in reality, it's down the street from me), so I don't have much reason to go to the big stores unless it's for a sale or a picture with Santa :) |

We have a locally owned feed and pet supply store that I use. They have a great selection of the high end dog food and natural treats. I too like to support our local businesses. |
I usually go to Petco because it's closer and it's fairly new and clean. Petsmart is in a strip mall in the part of town where all the bad drivers live. There aren't any dog boutiques around here (I think the cowboys would laugh it out of business) |
