Hello all seniors!
I just joined this forum!
I spent months researching on the breed I wanna have as a pet and finally settled for the gorgeous cute lil' :aimeeyork

Please let me know what you think of the Yorkie baby!
I am new to this and thus need some advice.

I know this sounds funny but I am worried more of my pup's health.
As in this sounds weird but I have fear that she may be crippled or unable to bark etc.
My neighbor bought her beagle from pet store and he is crippled and needs long term medication for his anxiety treatment.
Which makes me worried a lil' way too much!
My breeder says she can only come home after her 10th week which I am totally fine. That gives me more time to prepare her new arrival!

I just wanna know more if the pup needs to be de-clawed? Sounds weird but I think I read it from this forum and must I ask my breeder about this?
What are the questions I need to ask my breeder? I had read the sticky but needed a lil more information.

Congratulations and welcome to YT!

I bet you were reading about the dew claws somewhere in a post, not about being de-clawed. Never would total de-clawing a Yorkie be recommended.

Do you have a name picked out for her yet? Your baby :aimeeyork is very cute!

Hi & Welcome! Dew claws should already be removed, as for the barking, some of mine have not barked at all till they were 9months old. Have you asked to see or have you seen the parents?

And Names... The more I read thru pages, the more names I want!!!!
It's a tie between Bambi and Poppy.
But Poppy sounds like Potty so if I am getting that name, I need to change command to Go Pee instead!!! :p

Then it should be ok. Will ask the breeder just to confirm cos to tell you the truth, I dun even know how dewclaw looks like until I am in this thread.

I have attached the pic with her mummy in it. Pic is abit blur but she has beautiful blue and she looks friendly!
So am kind of relief to be able to see her with the puppies! :animal-pa

About you being first concerned with your puppies health. A woman after my own heart. That should first and foremost.

Question/request.....Is it possible for you to ask your breeder to keep your pup until it is 12 weeks of age?

YTCA Code Of Conduct
All puppies leaving the breeders possession will be a minimum of twelve (12) weeks of age to facilitate adequate socialization as well as appropriate emotional and temperament development through interaction with siblings, dam and other dogs.

Breeders will provide puppy buyers with written details of feeding, general care, date and types of a minimum of two (2) inoculations, as well as dates of wormings, grooming instructions, etc. and be available to offer future advice as needed. (the only way a pup can have a minimum of 2 inoculations is if it is kept for 12 weeks)

Yes there's guarantee from the breeder but now am looking at getting puppy insured at the same time.

Poppy is a fabulous name :) Like the flower, Red could be her signature color.

That's some new information for me..
The breeder did tell me that she will provide (1) & (2) for me.
As for the innoculations, she did say she had given her a first shot. And she also state that she will give her another shot just before handling the pup to me. And it always occur to me that puppies are safe to be home after their 8 weeks.
She told me that :aimeeyork are prone to Hypoglycaemia (which I read up)
and thus I need to prepare Light Karo Syrup.
So yah will head your advice maybe get her around 12 weeks.

If giving innoculations so the provide the best possible immunity, first between 8 and 9 weeks and 2nd 3 to 4 weeks after that one, with the 3rd given on week 16. Google Dr Jean Dodd's vaccination protocal

Best thing to keep on hand is NutriCal for hyperglycemia or NutriDrops.

Now I placed two brothers; one was named Cognac, the other Vino....I call them the alcoholic brothers.

Mardelin, I can't wait to bring her home! Really wanted to celebrate our 1st Christmas together!
My breeder replied and she said she can keep her longer.
She also mentioned the pup is starting to play and getting livelier and she checked once again and her legs are fine!

I know how excited you are, but as you said you want a healthy, happy puppy. Those added 2 weeks will make a world a difference......Mothers do so much training from weeks 8 to 12.....Think of all the other holidays you are going to have with her.

We all understand your excitement. The wait will be agonizing, but you'll make it! You've got time to be really prepared when she does come home. The preparation time is fun too. So much to think about, shopping lists, lots to read. I'm glad you found YT before you got her. Study up on diet on here & get your little one off to a good start. Picking the right food can be a toughie, as what works for one doesn't necessarily work for all of them.

Thanks! Yorkies are such darling and a lil' wait def goes a long way just like what Mardelin said!
And her shopping list is longer than my christmas list!
She is going to be a spoilted diva! hahaha
My breeder is feeding her Solid Gold so am sticking to that and reading the threads makes me more confident in getting that too.
Shall see how she takes it from there!

Zhoie Bella (10 mo on 25th) is our first yorkie too and we simply can't imagine life without her now. She totally is our belle of the ball.
So very glad to hear you are waiting for 12 wks, it truely will make a big difference. Our little girlie is so laid back and well mannered, which I give alot of credit to her breeder. We purchased her at 3 wks, (only seeing pictures) didn't get to visit her until 8 wks (4 hr drive one way) and then drove back to pick her up at 12 wks. I was such hard wait, but she was worth every minute. Good Luck!!
