| ![]() I was at the bookstore last week and was browsing through Ceasers dog magazine and it said Turkey Skin is Poisonous to dogs. We may know this but it said to be aware of Auntie, cousins and friends who come to visit and think it cute to sneak a piece of turkey to our pets.. Fat Trimmings from Ham and other meats Never give your dog fat trimmings from meat and especially from ham as high fat consumption could lead to a bout of pancreatitis. Pancreatitis can range in severity from mild to life threatening and is an extremely painful condition. Turkey skin is also high in fat content. Vets see an increase in pancreatitis over Thanksgiving and Christmas.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() Thanks for the info. The only turkey meat that I would ever give mine is the white meat. But you never know what someone else would do.

| ![]() Didn't know about the turkey skin..I plan to give Max turkey, green beans and sweet potato (before all the added stuff like brown sugar, etc). Is this ok? It's my first Thanksgiving with Max so I'm still learning. ![]()

| ![]() Turkey white meat is fine. I give it to mine every year without any problems. The skin and the dark meat is too fatty for them

| ![]() Thanks for posting this.... Unfortunately, we had to learn this the hard way 3 years ago. Piccolo got into the turkey fat (licked a towel, I had thrown down the steps with turkey fat) and she spent 3 days at the emergency room, during Thanksgiving, getting IVs. It is a horrible thing and glad you have warned everyone about this danger. The good news - she recovered and is doing great now. ![]()
