Who's cooking for Thanksgiving 1 Attachment(s) I just finished making 5 batches of dinner rolls. Well 4 1/2, I made the other half batch into cinnamon rolls. Can't you just taste them? Attachment 300179 |
My uncle does Thanksgiving at his house every year, and most of the family goes to that. However, since my parents divorced and mom has a new guy (that no one likes, lol), Dad is by himself and I can't stand the thought of that. So I decided last year to cook myself, and have Dad over. This year, we're having not only Dad here, but also one of my sisters, her husband and son, and my best friend and her two girls (her husband is deployed). Here is the menu for this year. Me: Turkey, cheesy broccoli & rice casserole, candied yams, rolls, my no-bake cherry cheesecake, pumpkin pie, apple cobbler. My sister is bringing herbed cheesy mashed potatoes, My best friend is bringing bread pudding, Dad is bringing the cranberry sauce. |

My family always does pot luck. We're frying a couple of turkeys (one for my parents and one for my inlaws) and bringing green bean casserole to my parent's house. We will be buying another turkey for the weekend. Can't get enough of fried turkey. It is soooo good! |
Yummmm!!! Ya'll are making me soooooo hungry. I can't wait till tommorrow, we are going to my family's house in northern Alabama. |
I'll be cooking this year much to the dismay of my family. Ever heard that saying - "I only have a kitchen because it came with the house"? No one has ever called me Better Crocker! As you sit down to a wonderful dinner, think of my poor family, but bless them for being so brave! :D Not really sure how "thankful" they will be! :happythx: |

I just love Thanksgiving! My hubby always does all the cooking:D (and my mom and I do the clean up). He sticks the bird in the rotisserie and it comes out soooo tender! Yummm!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!:dribble: |

For starters, rumaki, sweet and sour meatballs, potstickers then we've got, turkey, ham, sweet potatos, potatos cut up and cooking turkey juices and drippings, stuffing, cranberry sauce, broccoli, green beans, salad, macaroni pasta salad, homemade (awesome) pumpkin pie with freshly whipped cream, chocolate cake and brownies. |

Just spent 4 hours in the kitchen! I made two batches of homemade mashed potato casserole (10 lbs of potatoes!) and my mom's famous cornbread stuffing. I'm having Thanksgiving lunch with my family in the early afternoon and dinner with my roommates/friends at our house in the evening. LOTS of eating for me :) |
Thanksgiving has already passed here in Canada, but I would LOVE a round two if anyone has room for one plus 1 yorkie :p:p:p |
I am so anxious. I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner at our house for the first time ever! My mom, her bf and my little brother are coming over. |
My mom does the Thanksgiving holiday, we have such a small family now we all go to mom's. She cooks and then the rest of us do the dishes for her. |

All of this talk about Thanksgiving is making me so hungry! My boyfriend's Grandma is doing the cooking. I am so excited. She's making 6 different kinds of pies/cakes! We'll be having leftovers for weeks. :) |
Your rolls look good! I cooked all day today so I just have a few things to get ready and cook tomorrow. . Have a happy Thanksgiving |
I've been cooking last night & all day! Came here to escape for a while!;) There have been about 4 trips to grocery stores in the past 6 days between my DH & I. Bella just doesn't understand why Mommie won't sit still!:p She got tired of following me around!:dogzzz: |
I'm cooking this year but for a small crowd, just my mother, myself and Winston. I've decided to go pretty simple this year, just a nice roasted turkey & gravy, stuffing, homemade biscuits & sweet potato souffle. Winston will get a few home made pumpkin/peanut butter dog biscuits I baked the other day. |
Well I just found out today half my dad's side is on vacation in Australia. So no free for all at the Chinese restaurant this year! That means I will be cooking. For me and bf, that's it! Heh heh. I think he wants ribs and mashed potatoes. Good thing Chinese markets don't know what "observed holiday" means. They will be open all day tomorrow. I have gotten nothing so far! |
I am not cooking... I do not think I could handle the stress of that!! We are headed over to my parents house to enjoy time with the family. On the menu: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie and pecan pie! Cannot wait!! :D |

I'm cooking too and like Patti, I'm a huge ball of nerves every year when I cook. It doesn't help that two years ago, the turkey was STILL FROZEN when it was time to eat! My husband cut into it, we realized it was still frozen, and off to the bathroom I went to cry my eyes out. We'll never forget that Thanksgiving! :D Turkey is in the oven and it smells sooo good! Hope it turns out! And I hope everyone has a great day! |
Hummmm, those rolls look yummy!!!!! I will be cooking tomorrow as DH works for the fire dept. and is there today. We'll be going there for dinner. Everyone brings in way too much, but it's fun to get together with everyone's families. We're taking turkey, gravy, stuffing, deviled eggs, veggie tray, cranberries, and chocolate bunt cake. Some of the others will bringing a ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, candied yams it goes on and on, but you all get the idea. DH isn't happy on Thanksgiving unless it's a huge feast. Overkill if you ask me, but it's he's favorite holiday so since he lets me go all out for Christmas I give in on Thanksgiving. Anyone else? Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!! |
My wonderful husband, who I am very thankful for, is cooking the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and I do the gravy. I made deviled eggs, homemade cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. My daughter-in-law is bringing green bean casserole and dinner rolls. YUM! One of our sons will be here with his wife and our other son will have turkey dinner on a U.S. submarine on deployment.HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! :turkey2: |
