A pitbull attacked kingston! we were going on our morning walks and i noticed this lady with a pitbull walking towards us. i pulled kingston to the side, being that he's only 5 pounds. as we were crossing paths, the pitbull somehow managed to lunge over to our side and grabbed kingston by the neck! i was so frightened and mad at the same time! i couldn't believe what was happening. i was pulling kingston's body away from the pitbull, while he still had him by the neck with his paws. i didn't care if the pitbull bit me, i was more concerned about the life of my kingston. the whole time this was happening, kingston was screaming as if to say, "daddy, help me!" i finally managed to get him free. while this was all happening, not once did the lady try to do anything. i asked her if she knew her dog would do this. her response was, "my dog didn't hurt your dog, if anything your dog was just scared." bullsh*t! i was so pissed, i walked away and went straight home. i checked up on kingston and i noticed his eyes are bloodshot. i don't know if the pitbull got his eye because everything happened so fast. could this be due to him being frightened? i'm so upset right now!:mad: |
Oh wow, that sounds terrifying! And the lady sounds like a complete idiot! :mad: How is Kingston doing? I think I would take him to the vet for a checkover just in case. It wouldn't take much for a big dog to cause internal injuries or damage his spine. Hope you and he are ok! |
Poor Kingston, and His Dad! I am sorry you had to experience this. I hope that Kingston is okay and was just frightened. You might want a vet check just to be sure there wasn't some kind of unseen damage. I don't TRUST any dogs we see walking. I always pick Bella up and carry her by other dogs. Too many dogs out there are not socialized properly. Keep us updated on how both of you are doing. |
Too much pressure on the neck could have caused his eyes to be bloodshot. I would have him checked by the vet |
You are very lucky Kingston was not killed. Pit bulls can get a death lock on little dogs and when that happens it is very hard to get them to let go. I do hope that next time you see someone walking a big dog that you will pick Kingston up before the other dog gets to close. Some people just don't know how to control their dog. I can believe the lady did nothing about it. I know you are shaken. Are you sure Kingston is okay? Just keep a close eye on him. He might be sore of the dog clamped down on him hard. |
My friend had something similar happen to her but her puppy was not lucky, he was killed by the pit, and the lady just stood there, sad , sad, now if i am walking my babies and I see a big dog either I cross the street or I turn down to a drive way or a street that way I stay FAR and away from big dogs, not all dogs are like that but you never know..glad your pup is ok, just have him look over just to be safe.. hugs, Carmen in nj |

I'm so sorry that this happened to Kingston and you! If you ever cross paths with that dog again- don't stalk them- but note how the dog acts towards others. If it lunges and you have a camera-get pictures! Get a licence (sp) plate number and turn the info over to ac. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but people like that need to take responsibilty for their dog. Before anyone jumps on me for "picking" on pitts and their owners- I own one of these dogs, she is NOT allowed to act like that! Keep watch Kingston, he will probably be sore later. I too always pick up Bently when I see that a big dog will be near us when we are out walking. A couple of weekends ago I had taken him to a park and as I was exiting the car I was holding Bently and a couple of loose dogs came running up to me. Their owners were walking across the parking lot not even watching the dogs. I turned around so that there was no way they could get near Bently. At the same time I was yelling at the women to come get their dogs and that dogs in this park were supposed to be on leashes at all times. The women started calling the dogs, which were ignoring them only wanting to get to Bently. I again yelled at the women to come get their dogs. They still walked away and yelled for the dogs to come to them. I finally kicked at the dogs and started walking in the opposite direction and the dogs finally ran off towards the women. Better to be safe than sorry when walking your yorkies......... I never let another dog no matter how small or big approach us unless we have meet the dog before on our walks and I know it's safe. |
Is Kingston ok? I would have him checked by the vet just to make sure Pitbulls have very strong jaws. I really not fond of that breed I lost a cat to a pitbull 4 years ago and I tried everything to free my cat. It took me and 2 men to break the dogs jaw free and sorry to say my cat died 4 hrs later at the vet. PLEASE HAVE WINSTON CHECKED BY THE VET ASAP!!!!!! Whenever I see a big dog I always pick up Daisy and I will pick up Pixie as well. Daisy was attacked by a rotti 4 years ago and now she is fearful of big dogs. I hate it when people know that their dog can be a threat to another dog and don't even care!! I really hope your poor winston is ok, please let us know and I will say a prayer for him. I'm so sorry! Poor little Kingston - as everyone said, you should take him to your vet just to be sure there are no internal injuries you can't see. My little Rio is such a social butterfly she wants to greet EVERY dog in our path, so I have to call out to the person/dog approaching and ask "Is your dog ok with little ones?" You can usually tell if they are because they come over relaxed. The ones with un-socialized dogs will usually stay back and say no, or not even come our way. If I'm ever unsure, I just pick Rio up and walk away (Rio will usually start barking as if to say "Why can't we say hi mommy?"). Get well Kingston!!! |
I hope Kingston is ok!! Please go find this lady and get her information!!! She should pay for Kingston's care and her dog should be reported to animal control!! This makes me so mad!!! I'm so sorry this happened!!! |
Oh my God! As everyone else said...take Kingston to the Vet ASAP! :mad: That lady is an idiot! Why are there so many idiots with Pits? They make me want to slap the crap out of them. She should have pulled her dog back. Better yet, she should be training her dog to walk by other dogs properly. This is so very sad and I pray that Kingston is okay. Everyone...bring mace with you on your walks, and from now on if a large dog comes towards you and your baby, spray it and start screaming! Let them ask questions later. That will teach these idiots to BACK OFF! |
Please get Kingston to the vet to be checked. It's important because we can't see under the skin. I am sure he's bruised at least. I would give the lady the bill for the vet visit without any hesitation. Prayer's coming for your boy to be ok. Poor little guy he must have been so very scared. I would also report the incident to the local police. You don't know if there are any other charges against this dog. That lady has no head to be a pit bull owner! It's owner's like that that cause more problems with their dogs than the dogs themselves! I hope everything is fine with Kingston. Please have him checked over just to be safe. |
OMG!!!!! I'm extremely sick of that LADY right now, if she's unable to take care of her uncontrollable big dog, please don't walk him in public! I'm very glad Kingston is okay, but please check with vet if Kingston is really ok, just worried if Kingston was bitten by that big dog and unable to express it to you.. |

I agree have him check esp since the dog had him by the neck It pisses me off the way people just shrug these things off I had my two pups out almost for the first time when they were about 3 months old and they were learning to leash walk and a woman comes over with two Yorkies of her own without leashes wanting to see the puppies Well one of her dogs goes to nip one of mine I scooped up my dog and shot her a look like What the hell lady? and she just said Oh he was protecting my other dog From Puppies? I walked away without saying anything because if I did it would have been an expletive :mad: |
i hope kingston will be okay i know pressure to his neck and stress can cause bloodshot eyes but best to see vet to be sure make sure you remember to let us know if he is okay |
If his eyes are bloodshot he had alot of pressure on his neck I'd have him checked out and I'd report that lady and her dog. |

thank you everyone for your concern. yes, at the moment i was more frightened and worried about my kingston. but now i'm boiling mad! i read stories liek this all the time, never thinking it coudl happen to me. i'm still in shock by this woman's reaction. the next time i do see her, i will have to talk to her and give her a piece of my mind! i'm so mad at myself for not picking him up. the pit seemed to be at a good distance from us. i couldn't believe she could let him lunge at us like that. looking back, she was a pretty petite woman who didn't look like she could handle a pit. i'm so mad at her and at myself. kingston is lying on my stomach right now as i'm typing this up. he seems calm. i'm going to take everyone's advice and have him checked at the vet. again, thank you all for listening to my story and offering your support. i knew i could count on my YT friends to come to my defense. |

bloodshot eyes are a result of hemmorrage! Sometimes due to broken blood vessels related to strangulation! Get him to a vet immediately!!! |
She did nothing? You must be furious! I would find out who that lady was and report the pit to animal control. |

That's really awful. The same thing happened to me and Ella a few months ago. There are 2 large german shepards that live down the road from us and their owners have a electric fence and we had walked past them before but this time i guess they really wanted Ella because one went right through the electric fence and attacked Ella. It also had her by the neck and her face got a cut on it. I was so scared. Luckily the owner was outside and he pulled his dog off her. Again, he didn't seem to be to upset that his dog attacked. Know i know that electric fences aren't as reliable as they seem. I really hope Kingston is doing fine. I know it can be a traumatic experience. |

I'm so danm tired of hearing stories like this. Pit Bulls are F#$%ing peice of S#$% dogs that people only have because they want to appear tough. There the thug type drug dealer's dog of choice.People can say it's not the dog it's the owner until they are blue in the face and I say BS. Pitbulls are dangerously unpredictable dogs that can snap without warning.They are inbred monsters that are full of bloodlust.I just hope your little one is OK. BTW if I've offended anyone with my comments ...TOO BAD!!!:mad: |
