Chihuahua eaten by snake JoJo's groomer told me a really sad story. Her mother (who lives in FL) had her Chihuahua eaten alive by a snake. She let it out to go potty and a few minutes later came back out to see half of his body already swallowed by the snake. I can't get this image out of my head...I can't imagine what her mother is going through for having witnessed that. I don't know anything about snakes so I asked my groomer if her mom tried pulling her dog out, and she said she was too scared to approach it. And she said besides, once a snake begins eating its victim, it has already suffocated it. Is this true? I posted this because Yorkies are about the same size as Chihuahuas, and although snakes aren't prevalent where I live, I want to be as prepared as possible for any possible situation that may harm my little guy. Is there anything her mom could have done? What would you have done? |
I still would have pulled it out even if it were already dead. What was she thinking having a snake out withb a little chihuahua. That was just stupidity. I dont know why people have snakes like that anyway |
I've heard that Boas and Pythons are common in Florida. They escape from their owners or just let go when owners no longer want them. These snakes thrive in Florida's climate. There is also a problem with iguanas running around. |
That is just horrific, I can't even imagine something so terrible. |
wow i cant even believe that! what a damn mess! that will stay with her forever. |

Im going to assume that the woman DIDNT OWN the snake. Snakes are very common in flordia and she probably didnt know it was out there untill it was too late. Poor dog, poor woman. :(... |
No, she did not own a snake. And being that she's originally from Michigan, she probably never considered a huge snake in the vicinity of her home. It just goes to show us that we can never be too careful with our furbabies. I make a conscious effort to ensure that JoJo is in my sight at all times. |
A boa would have suffocated the dog prior to eating it. Very sad, but it probably happens more often than you know. I read a story recently about a family with a pet snake and a pet chihuahua. The snake ate the dog. Boas are reproducing in the wild like crazy in Florida. They are an invasive species, and very dangerous to the native wildlife, not to mention little pets. |

Omg! That is so terrible. |
that's sad :( |
That\'s a horrible story! Well, I\'m always worried about hawks but now I\'m kinda grateful I live where I do as I don\'t have to worry about giant snakes, only hawks! |
I would of been in the yard when my dog was in the yard for starters. I heard another chihuahua horror story on a chi board that I am on. A woman brought her new chi pup home and herMaine coon cat went strait for her throat and killed her. Just makes me , well I did hold my chi close after reading your post. I feel bad for your friend but when she is ready for another baby please ask her to keep a closer eye. Forgive me if I seem harsh. We have an occasional hawk out here so I am extra wary and consious. |
That is so horrible:eek:I never ever let my babies leave my side, ever!! |
I hate snakes for this reason I would worry about the size of a snake. I have read not to long ago about a large snake killing a toddler girl. It was the mothers boyfriends snake and when he awoke to find the snake out of it\'s tank it was too late, he had already kill the little girl and began to swallow. :( We don\'t have snakes of that size around here unless they are a pet. |
