Why?!!! Ok I am getting a little confused here... Why is it ok to use the term "tea pot" for a larger yorkie one that is over 7lbs but its not ok to use the term "tea cup" for the smaller ones the ones that are smaller then 3lbs? I don't understand that. I know that tea cup is supposed to be a term used for size not a breed so what is the big deal? just asking b/c I noticed that a lot of people dont like that word here on YT. Thanks |
I think the whole issue is that people a.k.a "breeders" use the term "teacup" in order to up the price of a dog. It's not really ethical. Whereas "teapot" is sort of a joke among people on this site. Nobody is going to advertise their dog as a "teapot" simply because the general public want these teeny-tinies and are willing to shell out big $$$ for these teacup dogs. |
Oh... now I get it... ok makes sense... :) that was quick.lol... |
A little YT insider humor! LOL |
Did you check out the group for Teapots on this website? There are lots of them here! |
Yes I have seen several, they are all adorable regardless of size... I was just wondering about those terms... lol... but it was very quickly answered :D phew!!!:) |
Wouldn't it be funny if someone advertised a TeaPot Yorkie for sale? I think they usually call them "pet quality.":) |
yes it would be funny to see that term. I think the only people who would actually know what that term means is someone from YT, otherwise they could probably get away with selling a "teapot" as a special kind like they do the "teacup"... |
ok well i have a coffee cup size yorkie lol here's another name |
I always joke that hamish is a tea URN (went to the vet today: 19.8) so, but we love him to bits.... and teacups are for drinking tea! :p |
I told my mom and grandma about the teapot term because my Callie Mae is a 15 pound teapot and we will tell certain people shes a teapot and explain it to them. |

I have to laugh when people say that their big guys are "teapots". My Harley is a HUGE yorkie....weighing in at 22-24lbs. We laugh and say that he surpasses 'teapot' status...he is officially in the keg category. ;) Tammy |
