Does anyones yorkie play with a "hide a squirrel" dog toy? Louis is obsessed with looking out the window and watching the squirrels, so I was thinking about getting him a hide a squirrel dog toy. Does anyone have one of these, and does your dog play with them? |
Fiona wouldnt stop playing with one at a friends house! its so funny to watch them! :D |
I think I need to get one for Louis. I just wanted to make sure that dogs are actually able to get them out of the "tree trunk." He will feel like he finally got one of those squirrels that he has been watching out the window! :D |
That's really cute! I put it on their Christmas list. |

We have the this and also the bee... but just be aware that they can get there head stuck in the holes.. so I do not let mine have them unless I am right there to supervise... just to let you know.. |

Zoey Loves the Hide-a-Squirrel Quote:
I have the regular size one upstairs and it is a riot to watch her play. I will concur that I do NOT leave this one alone with her because she stuffs her head into the tree trunk and tosses it around (or maybe the trunk tosses her around - I am not entirely sure). ;) I really think the toy brings out her instincts of wanting to hunt in a hole. Great toys for my little one - hope it works as well for you! |
This sounds like a good Christmas present for Sophie, too. I scrolled through 10 pages of toys on the Petsmart web page and couldn't find it:confused:. Either I'm blind or maybe it's only in stores? |
Jack has one as well and it is by far his favourite toy. He loves to chomp on the trunk as well as the squirrels. I wouldn't leave him alone with it either though - all of the squirrels are 'earless' now as he's quite fierce with them! |

Zhoie has both one and hide a bee, she doesn't play with either one of them, go figure. Seems to not be able to get them out when she 1st tried though. |

Of course I can not guarantee anything! It will depend on the size of your little one and I guess how much he really wants to stick his head in it. All I know is that Zoey does not try to go further than her nose in the small one (called a Jr) but seems to relish being stuck in the regular size one. FYI: They have a regular size one, a smaller one called a Jr, and a large one called a Jumbo. Regardless, I do not leave this toy in an unsupervised area. Meaning, I am always at least in close proximity of her when she plays with these type toys. When I leave her, she is contained in the exercise area in the master bedroom that does not have these toys. (We live in a three level townhouse and she is a bit spoiled, with exercise areas on all levels) Hope that helps! :) |
I got mine all the hide-a-toys & Turbo & Princess ripped it all up in just a couple of days. Not recommended for strong chewers. Only the bee hive, bird house & squirrel trunk remains. Momo really enjoyed them while it lasted tho!:D I use the remains to put little balls inside & they do like taking the balls out. |
Jersey plays with his but he did start to rip the tree apart the squirrels have held up:animal36 |

My kids think they look like a cross between squirrels and chipmunks so they dubbed them 'squipchunks'. If you ask Jack to find his 'squipchunk' he knows exactly what to look for! |
What a cute cute thing to call them |

(I hope Jersey is doing ok!) |
We have the Hide a Squirrel and Harley loves to play with it. I bought him the "jr" one. Harley is roughly 5 lbs and I don't THINK that there is any way that he could get his entire head through one of the holes. But then again I also leave them stuck out a little bit so he has never had to try! Jeri and Harley |

We had the hide-a-bee and my kids loved it!!! But they performed open heart surgery on the poor little bees and took their insides out!! :D They are great to play with, but no matter what size you get, just be sure to supervise when he is playing with it. I would never leave them along with these toys, they could choke on the stuffing. AprilLove loved putting her head in the holes of the "bees" nest, but I was always in the room when she played with it. |

They can get their heads in there :D I got her on video doing it, it took my by surprise, just had the camera out and was talking on the phone, you'll see it about one minute in :D U-Tube muted the audio because Cher was on my radio, but I was cracking up, because she was having a good time, lol and she got her head out ok, but this is why i always am with them when they have toys like this |

Awe Aprillove is such a silly girl. Mine love theirs too, they can go all day! We call it hide a yorkie when they get their heads in there, and they always tend to fight over the same bee or squirrel:p |
1 Attachment(s) Stella LOVES her hide a squirrel. Yes, they can get their head stuck, but Stella seems to WANT to get her head stuck...and then she does zoomies and runs into things. Exhibit A: Attachment 298574 They also seem to like to pull at the whiskers on the squirrels..I'm not sure why they even gave them whiskers, so maybe just cut them off to keep them from eating them? |

I bought the hide-a-squirrel for Yogi about a month ago...he loves it! He takes it and whips around and growls while he does it. He sounds demented! We actually filmed him with it and it is the most hilarious thing. He goes wild. The squirrels have held up pretty good too considering Yogi tears apart every single stuffed animal in sight. |
