Stinky babies...Tired Mommy I am looking for an easy way out I guess? With two babies now, working all week, and sssssoooooo much going on around here on the weekends I am not able to bath the girls every week as I have been doing. They are getting a little ripe by the second, (or third:rolleyes:) week. We are outside a lot and they seem to have that smelly outdoor smell. I do keep thier faces and eyes clean but am looking for something quick to freshen them up a little in between baths. What do you all use? Hopefully things will slow down a little and we can get back to the weekly or heaven help at least biweekly bathing. LOL:p |
Bathe just 1 one day and the next day bathe the other. If you have time for a shower or bath, then take one in with you. ;) |

Do you do this? How do you manage? :p |

Thanks for the suggestion. I may be brave enough to try it one day! LOL:p They are so big with thick hair the bathing is not what takes so long. Its the conditioning, brushing, and blow drying that takes forever. I use cool air so it is a time consuming process. I guess I am looking for a dry bath product(?) Any suggestions on those? I would like something natural. |
After I give Madison a bath, I like to wipe her down with baby wipes everyday until next bath time. That seems to keep her fresher longer:) |

Yes I do, but I think they have dog wipes also. |
There are lots of different brands of dog wipes. I just bought a pack from walmart recently that I like pretty well actually! |
I have used a spray shampoo on them between baths. |
I use doggie wipes between bathing Sydney. They work well. |

I bathe 8 dogs in full coat every Sunday. Once you get a routine down it does not take long. For most of them I can bathe brush blowdry and do their hair in a half hour. If I let them go for more than a week it takes much longer to brush them out and they suffer from the matts. |

Hi Amanda!!!! Hope I can help you with your stinky babies:):). Don't buy expensive doggy wipes, just get baby wipes which are for "sensitive" so they don't have too much fragrance in them and won't irritate your doggy babies. When Snick goes to his doggy-sitters house for weekend when my husband & I go out of town, he always comes back smelling a little like the other dogs and their house (you know, everyone's house has a smell:).) So what I do is I take 2 baby wipes, and spray them down with Buddy Splash (Lavender & Mint scent is heavenly) & wipe him down good. And that's it...he is fresh until I can give him a bath. Sometimes I will do this when we go to my in laws or parents house and he comes back smelling like food!! We also use and LOVE Buddy Wash and Buddy Rinse for Snick's baths. Hope this helps:) -Snick & Viv |

I have never taken a shower or bath with them. If I didn't have the time to bathe them every couple of weeks, I'd wait till my husband was home on a Sat. or Sun. and then I'd bathe and hand to him to towel dry, and by the time I was finished with the last one, I'd take the other two to the bathroom to blow dry, then get the third one. I've done this when we have traveled, and it only takes 30 minutes to do all three. ;) |

I only have 3 but I do them every Saturday morning. Like Jeanie said once you get a routine down it gets better. |

I'd always wondered about it and since I was going to have to pay for shipping, I figured I might as well get something instead. lol. It works pretty well in those cases of pure laziness (at least on my part). lol |
We Use Buddy Splash in between Baths I know the feeling of a stinky pup. You might want to try a product called "Buddy Splash" by Cloud Star. I think they have different scents. We use the original scent "Lavender and Mint". It is a leave in conditioner that helps soften and deodorizes their coats in between baths. All natural too. We love it and it smells really good. We try to bath Tigger every Sat or Sun. During the week, I usually use the spray each time I brush him. Good Luck with the Pups..:) TiggerBug :animal-pa |
I LOVE Cloud Star Buddy Wash...yep Lavendar! :D I will look for the splash tomorrow! Thanks to you all for your suggestions to my delima. It is not that I don't have a routine down, it is just there have been disruptions to the routine...many weeks, right now, finding an extra hour or so impossible. We'll get back on track! Thanks for your help until then!;) |
Oh Wow .... am I not bathing her enough? I thought I had read somewhere that bathing them too much can be harmful and drying. I bathe Zoey every other weekend, brush her thoroughly nitely, wash her face with a warm washcloth nitely, occasionally have to take care of a poo problem with a puppy wipe, and wash her privates with a warm washcloth about every 2-3 days. I have not had any problems with smells or with her itching or having any problems at all. However, if I am incorrect and should be giving her more baths, PLEASE tell me - I am a new mommy and want to do this right!! ~Denise |

So if your pup seems content, does not have skin issues with your routine, and you don't think your baby smells you're probably doing ok. |

Thanks again - I just love this place :D ~Denise |
I use those 'doggie baby wipes' for in between baths. I really don't love the way they smell, but they do work! Maybe just give them a good wipe down with them while you're cleaning their eyes, etc. Seems to work for my baby. Especially when shes come in from outside---when its wet. ;);) |
I just picked up a bottle of EarthPet spray deodorizer and am absolutely in love. The scent is unreal. I got the Vanilla Almond but they have a Mango scent and also a Lavender scent. What I like about it is that it doesn't build up on the coat at all (a problem I've had with other sprays) and the scent lasts without being overpowering. It makes brushing a breeze too. It's also a natural product. As for bathing, I used to do once a week but I noticed her skin was getting slightly dry. Now I stretch it out to 10-14 days and give her a little fish oil every so often. Haven't had a problem since! |
I'm not sure of the name, but I use this spray conditioner/"cologne" stuff that, as my husband puts it so nicely, "smells like a baby's butt". It smells wonderful, and I it actually does condition my boys' hair. I got it at petsmart, but I'm sure that any place with a pet area, or a pet supply place would have something similar. I picked mine out because of the smell, but there were a bunch of other similar products. I bathe my boys once a week (I try to make it Fridays, because we are out and about on Saturdays and Sundays, as those are our days off), and I use the spray close to every day, haha. |
We bought some spray at Petco to help. I learned a lot from this thread. Baby wipes? Great idea! Take them into the shower with you? Great idea! I used to do that with my real babies before they got big. |
Thanks yall I found some deodorizing spray that also conditions. THe store I usually bought Cloud Star from stopped selling it!!! Anyway, the baby wipes are a great idea. Thanks everyone! |

We do the shower thing since the clear curtain seems to make him think he can't get out and he calms down. What I do is wet and wash him, rise and then put our conditioner in. While I shower he sits out of the spray and waits. When I'm all done I rinse him off and we get out at the same time. I usually lay a towel on the floor and he makes a beeline for it. I have a small bathroom so I don't really have to worry about him getting cold waiting for me. |
