Abby is 8 months old now and I would say she is only 50% trained, maybe more. Sounds like they all have their little quirks. Abby will not potty on the pad if anyone is around, she likes her privacy. She will pee outside but wait until she gets in the house to poop. She is getting pretty good at going poop on the pad, except it may be a few inches off the paper. I think she is standing on the edge of the pad and it just misses the paper. Some days she will pee on the paper and poop on the carpet and other days she will poop on the paper and pee on the floor. Seems like she just won't do it all. She will come to me and if I don't pay attention to her she will paw at my leg when she wants to go out, but half the time she only plays, does not potty while she is out. My husband would not hear of crate training her, he felt sorry for her and since I work, he has always allowed her access to most of the house. When I come home and see that she has pottied on the paper I will praise her and give her a treat, she seems to understand that. When I say "Good girl, you pottied on the paper" she runs to the treat box. I met a woman recently who has 3 Yorkies and she told me not to expect too much until Abby is 2 years old. Abby also "tinkles" when she gets too excited, like when company comes in or when she goes to visit friends who have dogs she can play with. I'm hoping she will outgrow that! |

I crate trained him when I got him at 14wks. I came home on my lunch hr for 6wks to take him out. After that he was good to go from 8:15 - 5:30 when I got home. I gated him in the kitchen and got rid of the crate, he hated it. He would jump the 32" gate daily so I had to put two up one on top of the other. After three months of this I gave him full range of the house leaving bedroom doors closed. He chewed up the throw rugs one after the other but when the chewing stopped he just slept until I got home. Almost 5yrs later we do the samething. Today of course he touches nothing but still has stressfull moments when I leave. |

Scooter was around a year old when we got him and he was completely untrained. They people from whom we bought him absolutely hated him and would scream at him no matter what he did. I now have him about 80% trained, I say 80% because he still marks on the tile by the slider to the porch and also on an end table which is made of some sort of stone  He's a sweet lovable little boy and I adore him so I really don't care. |
