Does your Yorkie where clothing? Why or Why not?
 

I know that this is a big debate among dog owners, especially those with small breeds such as the yorkie.
I was wondering what everyone's opinion is.
I haven't ever bought Muffy clothes because I had heard negative things.
So tell me what you think!
If you do like clothing for dogs, where do you like to get them from?

etc,hi i dress my furbutts up in winter, as it gets very cold here, also i dress them up on special occasions, christmas halloween they have very fine silky coat they need clothing in winter:D

I think you'll find that most of us here dress our babies. Not just the girls, the boys wear clothes too :D My babies love their clothes. Especially when it's cold outside. Mine have pjs and bath robes too (as a lot of others here do too)

You mentioned that you haven't purchased any becuase of the comments you've heard others make...if you like something, want it and can afford it, then you should get it. Don't live your life worrying about what other people think. It's your life and your money. Stand up for yourself.

As for where I get my clothes...well, I get them everywhere. My favorite place is right here on YT! If you haven't seen it there's a section on items for sale and YTers stores. :yorkietal

But I gotten them from on line stores, ebay, pet stores, Walmart, Target, the list goes on and on. Heck even the Harley D store has them :rolleyes: let someone say a smart comment to a biker and see what happens :p

Morgan wears clothes in the winter when its cold. she has sweaters, sweat shirts and pjs. she had a cotton coat that mats underneath clothes so i have to keep her hair short if i'm gonna dress her.

My baby weighs 8 lbs and is not good in heat. She does not like to be too warm. So I don't dress her when it is a warm day or when the house is warm. I prefer to dress her only to keep her warm, which I have done frequently in the winter. However, I also have had her little legs come out of an outfit, which could be dangerous if I didn't notice and she were to jump off the bed or couch. So I weigh the option (which I did when considering getting one of those Snuggies) cute or a broken leg? Now you do the math. Last winter, when we had the heat turned down during the day while we were at work, I put a fairly tight sweater on her to keep her warm (and tight to keep her safe).;)

Oh yes, my baby wears clothes. Mostly for warmth or sometimes just to be cute! She sleeps in p.j's but loves her tee shirts the most. I don't do much of the dresses. We do alot of tee shirts, jammies, tank top in the summer, sweaters and winter coats. She is 4.4 lbs and loves them.

I dress my lil Pixie bc she gets cold and my dog Daisy loves clothes! In fact I was putting on Pixie's sweater and Daisy got all excited and tried to push her way through the sweater so I went and got Daisy's shirt to wear and she was thrilled. So.......I think some dogs love clothes!! It is all in how you approach it!:D

Yes I dress my male Bailey, mainly when it's cold, or for pic taking :p it's getting extremely cold where I live now, so I've been bundling him up in sweaters and coat before going outside.

In the summer 90% of the time Layla does not wear clothes- sometimes I put a little shirt on her or a dress- but usually she is naked. In the winter she HAS to wear clothes. Yorkies do not have an under coat and can't maintain their heat very well in the winter. Layla has sweatshirts, sweaters, winter coats and pj's.

If you are worried about what other people think- stop. These are OUR babies- they can think what they want but just do what you feel comfortable with.

People are ALWAYS making fun of Layla's hair bows. I try my best to explain if she does NOT Have something in the hair- she can't see. They think i do it for looks- when it is really function- same with clothes!

I also dress Nolee when it is cold and special occasions!

My 4 wear Birth Clothes...They will wear sweaters in the winter....

CoCoa B. does not wear clothes. I tried it but he manages to take them off, so I stopped putting clothes on him.

my little boy yogi has alot of clothes from little jackets when its cold, sweaters, and little t shirts. he gets cold so i put them on him plus he looks so cute in little clothes he also does not mind wearing clothes i think that the people that say putting clothes on your dog is dumb has a big dog and cant dress there dogs up but oh well i love him in clothes he just looks so cute :)

My Cooper wears a jersey to my daughter's soccer games and a coat when it is cold out. At home he doesn't wear clothes because our house as warm enough. I may get a sweater if he seems chilly during the winter.

If he HATED wearing clothes I wouldn't put them on him at all. I don't want him to be miserable. I think if he got cold he would tolerate the clothing anyway because he would realize it keeps him warm. Yorkies are very smart you know. he he

At home Laci is nekkid, but its very cold here in the winter... She has to wear a coat or a sweater or she shakes..she doesnt like to be cold at all... I do like to buy pretty dresses and shirts but I dont make her wear them all the time. She also loves clothes.. she sits pretty when I am dressing her

Have fun shopping for your baby. There are tons of adorable things to choose from. I see nothing wrong with dressing our furbabies if they do not object. There are some dogs that hate to wear clothes and many that enjoy it. Some could care less either way. Do whats right for your and your dog and don't worry about what others might say.

I live in Texas where it is very hot. For that reason I only dress my little ones in the winter. We do t-shirts, sweaters and coats. I also like to do holidays just for fun. One of my babies gets mats in her coat when she wears clothes so I have to do extra brushing as I like to keep her coat long.

Not cruel for sure. There can be a safety issue as someone here mentioned. And of course you need to be alert when your baby is dressed up to insure nothing untoward happens.

But I live where it is cold and in winter if I want to walk my boy he needs to be kept warm!. I think you can get a silk undergarment (i'm searching for one now) and then put on the winter snow suit. I've looked at a couple of places and my breeder says please be carefull what you buy cause you don't want to ruin his coat.

I used to dress mine all the time but now its just special occasions and when its very cold in the winter

Go for it!!! I dress my dog because I think it is fun. In the summer it is too hot, so I put on a cute harness and matching leash. But in cold weather my pup wears hoodies, sweaters, and fleece. I like her all cuddly. Dresses are for special occasions. After a bath she has a terrycloth bathrobe!

Not only do clothes keep them warm, they also help to keep them clean--something to think about especially if they are on your bed or furniture.

My Missy always wears clothes except for in the hot summer months. If I don't dress her, I will find her shivering, huddled over the heat vent in the floor. She really enjoys clothes, and will actually come to me to get dressed (won't come to me any other time lol).

Oliver didn't get dressed because sweaters ect, would tangle his fur SO bad! But he got himself a very sporty hair do this summer and now it's starting to grow out. He wears a sweather when it's cold out - I also keep our house chilly so he likes to lay in front of the fireplace... I'll likely keep his hair shorter this winter, although I miss his beautiful long hair!

My other yorkies wore sweaters when it was cold. And he always wears a life vest in our boat .

I do not dress mine. I did in the past, but I keep them in full coat and it matts their hair.

Clothes and Yorkies are the perfect match and they are among the most common type dog you see in advertisements for dog clothes.

Muffy is such a great name I also have a Muffy! I have to agree with everyone.
Go for it!!! I dress my Muffy because it is fun and she LOVES it . In the summer it is too hot,we live in Texas so I put on a harness and matching leash bows and there sunglasses. But in cold weather my pup wears all kinds of stuff even shoes, rain coats Ohh and there sunglasses also. Here are a few pictures for ya.

Madison wears clothes also. Right now she is wearing a hoodie. I think she is just sooo cute in her pjs!!:)
