OK..so how bad am I..I occasionaly give my guys CHEETOS!!! Not everday but maybe twice a week. They love them so much. It is their favorite treat. After reading what grapes and raisins do, now I am wondering about all that salt and cheese stuff on them. Any opinion??? Just don't blast me too hard...I am teachable.lol |
Its not the best thing for them but I dont think every once in awhile is going to hurt. My Husband gives ours things like popcorn and peanuts every now and then |
2x's a week is way to much. They have to much fat for a little one and could bring on early diseases. I would stop immediately. It is one thing every few months but 2x's a week is not good. Try cheerio's and see if they like the plain ones...much better.:) I think if you get all excited and use your high voice they will get all excited and think they are getting the worlds best treat.;) |
Honeslty.... I would stop too. I was the worst with giving Peanut table food.. I mean he had EVERYTHING. Till he got really sick one day and there was a chance it could have been pancritites!! Thank god his blood work was clear!! I dont want to go through that scare again.. its one thing if they get sick.. but getting sick bc you give them table food is too much!! Now he gets NOTHING! He will only get good treats.. like cottege chesse, yogurt..bananas. stgring chesse.. boiled chicken.. And thats really limited. Just becareful what you give your furbutt and how much :D I know its hard when you are eating something yummy and they give you that sad look... but in the end I would rather deal with that sad look than a sick baby! |

You also might try charlie bears from Petsmart...mine love those also. I have a girlfriend that calls her kibble crunchies and she has her two poor babies believing they are getting ice cream and cake everyday by her voice and how excited she gets for them...I am forever telling them their mom is a fibber but they still love their crunchies...hahaha:D:p:D |
I've always been really bad w/ table scraps with Jackson but I've been trying to be better with him. It's difficult though because if it was just me & him it'd be fine, but he's constantly around my 6 year old brother who's either dropping or giving him food, as well as an 18-month old who's always doing the same... he knows exactly who to watch to drop the first piece of food, LOL. Luckily though, certain things, he will NOT eat anyways. Any type of potato chip, or potato product in general - he just spits it out or turns his nose up to it, ha. |

I agree, get rid of the cheetos!! They are high in fat and salt... not good:thumbdown Charlie Bears are the BEST!!!! My crew loves them, and whole grain cheerios  |
Our dogs don't get table food or traditional dog treats. When I am training I use little pieces of boiled chicken as high value treats. Once in a while they get a little piece of raw carrot, green beans, or apple and banana--but I think that is good for them. My breeder told me to give them cheerios--so my husband like to give those. We have this one yorkie that just looks at food and gains weight! So I have to be very careful with her. I try just to give her a little piece of carrot as a treat. Infact, I started mixing in the low fat Acana food with her regular Acan food this morning to gradully switch her over! |

for a snack i give mine few pieces of apple; and sometimes a baby carrot; she goes crazy for them; and they are natural and good for her; i give 3 or 4 cherios sometimes; but i dont like the ingredients that much (contains corn); good luck |
I'm really against giving most processed human foods, your dogs may love them, but it's just not worth it. There are lots of great treats that are healthy, Joey loves frozen (thawed) green beans, and dried liver is another one of his favorite treats. Remember, any high fat/sugar item appeals to both humans and dogs, these tastes appeal to us because they are high in calories, and high calorie foods were sought out in the past. Now with an abundance of food, seeking out high calorie foods is no longer necessary, but we still enjoy them. Dogs don't really "relish" foods like humans, they taste through their nose, and once in their mouth they don't even taste it, like we do. I would not allow my dogs to eat this no matter how much they wanted it. Read up on pancreatitis, it's an extremely painful disease that can come about from too much junk food that's high in fat. |
I was in Canada recently and went to a wonderful pet food store called Global Pet Food. I'm always on the lookout for good healthy training treats for Sadie. I found one that is cheese flavored and kind of puffy like cheeto's - maybe more like a rice cake. When I get home, I'll look and see what the name of it is. She loves them and they break into tiny pieces really easily. I'll bet you could find them on-line. |
If you are talking about the same cheesie things that I think you are, you can get them at PetsMart and WalMart. I have to break them into smaller pieces for my babies. But they definitely like them. |
You are not alone! I give Nolee baked cheetos sometimes!!! I know, I know... |
