How long do youur Flossies last your pups? I get the Merricks flossies. Uni loves the spiral shape and she twists them around her arm in such a way that it really anchors them down. Or she will tuck them into a couch cushion to get just the right angle. Anyway, the first few i bought from entirelypets.com at about $3 something each. They lasted about a week or so. So then I found this "great" deal on ebay for 10 of them for $20 something PLUS a free toy! How could I resist! Well these looked thinner and they only last her a few days. The last one which I gave her today was the last of them and the thinnest by far. She finished it in one day! Did i get seconds or rejects? They came with the Merricks header in them. I just reordered some but from a different ebay seller, and they were a bit more. Maybe I should just order them from entirelypets. How long to your flossies last? Maybe I should just do the Merricks bully stix  but I love the curly spirals!!! |
What are flossies are they grain free? Merric's is a good brand. Bt I've never heard of them. Greenies have stuff in the my kids can't have. |
Flossies are the same as bully stix (bull tendon or "penis" whatever), but they are thinner, so obviously don't last as long. But are cured into a spiral shape. Yes I've heard greenies are no good. |
Wow, I use Merrick Flossies, and it seems Apple had her last one for about a month or so? In fact, I just bought another one yesterday...The ingredients are just Beef Tendon...Mine has the yellow strip package w/the kinda orange letters on it...And she's constantly chewing on hers...I wonder if there are 'knock offs'? |
Mine love flossies, they actually prefer them to bully sticks. But the flossies just don't last as long. When I've bought Merrick flossies in local stores I was amazed at the difference in sizes from one to the next. They ranged from smaller than my pinky to bigger than my thumb. I alwasy tried to pick out the thicker ones. Maybe you just got a batch of thinner ones? |
I buy my bullysticks from AMD...i think she also has the spiral ones..but i get the 9 inch bullysticks. I always give them to Pasquale when we're eating dinner....when he has his bullystick...he wants nothing to do with us LoL Now my dog...goes to town on his bullystick....i mean he realllllllllllllly works hard...so he may finish faster than most dogs. But with that being said...it usually lasts him a good 4 days. I know that AMD's arent 3 dollars each..i think they are half the price. Good luck! |
Flossies About to to three hours Bently loves them and doesn't stop until he has totally finished one. I asked him if his jaws get tired and he just gives me that "that's a dumb question look". Needless to say he only gets about 2 - 3 per month. |
Even with the Bully sticks there is lots of variation with in width, I buy in bulk and they come in a sealed box that a store would use as display, so I'm pretty sure there is not any switching, and some are just much thinner than others. I think the Flossies are generally recommended for puppies and dogs less than four pounds. Since these are not processed in the sense that they are ground and man-made you will get much more variation in size. Joey has gotten really good at holding his sticks, and it takes him a whole week before he needs another one. You might try the sticks for everyday, since they are great for teeth cleaning, and the Flossies for special occasions. |
It depends. I've gotten some bully sticks and/or flossies for Jackson that will last a week. Others are gone in a day! The ones I buy from Pet Valu near my house are about $3 for a 12 inch bully stick and those usually last us a week from that store. That's the best deal I've found for the longest lasting ones. I ordered from AMD and while they didn't smell and Jackson loved them, he finished them off in a day, they were too skinny for him, I guess. |
Honestly, it depends on how long they are allowed to have it. If I don't take it away it will be gone in a day. They cannot get enough! |

I'm starting to wonder if the ones I got from the first ebay seller they purposely chose the thinner ones. They came with the same cardboard header as the ones I got from entirelypets.com. Let's see what this 2nd ebay seller gives me, they were a bit more. I guess I'll get some regular Merrick bullys too. I just love how Uni twists the flossies around her arm, its so funny! then when she gets down to the end and carries it around it looks like either a corn cob pipe or a snorkle! Oh, I forgot to say, when i am busy doing something at work, i give her one and she will work on it non stop. I think it was about 4 hours or so. |

I buy the bully sticks from AMD on YT. Last time I bought 100 to get the bulk price. I think I got the 6 in. Anyway, I give them to Gunnar when we are eating dinner so we can have some peace! He must be part piggy because he doesn't let up and eats the whole thing in about 2 hours (it seems!). If they are a little thicker, it may take long. I may try the braided ones, maybe they will last longer. When he was younger, I bought the braided ones and took them apart. Donna |
Peanut HATES the curly ones!!!! The first one he had poked him in the eye and he got really really freaked out by it and now he wont touch it lol.. so they are in the corner awaiting Daliliah and Lorelia to come spend the week at my house!! Peanut bully stick will last awhile tho.. I would say at least a month.. |

Yogi must be really greedy. He usually devours his Flossies in 60-90 minutes. |
Piccolo and Vivi love the Merrick's flossies, but they usually only last one sitting. Ahhhh! And, the price for one at the local pet store is almost $5.00. So, they mostly get Merrick's bully sticks now, which last weeks. (Even thought they do not like them as much.) I have ordered them over the internet, but the price is still over $3.00 and some of them are very skinny. Have you found a better price for the Merrick flossies anywhere? |
I've only found them on ebay for about $2+ per piece, but now I am wondering if they really are Merricks and not just a generic one with a merricks header card in there? I was getting the first few from entirelypets and those were thick and lasted about 2 weeks. Then again... that was when she first got them and was hiding it more than chewing it. I think now she knows she gets a seemingly endless supply, so she just gorges herself on them now. :p But these from ebay were definitely thinner. I hope this new seller's are better. I am just getting them 10 or so at a time. I cant afford to get them by the 100s. That's the only way you can really get them for less than $2 a piece I think. |
Are you sure you didn't get the "jumbo" flossies the first time? http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/3/6...7200204_tp.jpg By the way, the regular flossies are sold in packages of 50 for about $120.00 including shipping. |
This was the ones i got the first time. The 6-8" ones, the same as the ones I got off ebay. Could you imagine Uni with a jumbo? LOL She looks ridiculous with the 6-8" ones as it is! :D Flossies 6 in - 8 in |

That's what I was thinking! Hmm maybe i should do that! |
I get bully sticks from AMD and my little oinkers finish them in hours! Now I ration....I buy the 12in ones and only let them have them for awhile, then I put them up. I have a pup visiting that has retained 5 teeth so I am trying to get him to chew on these to loosen those darn teeth. So far it worked on only one. He for some reason rolls on his like he is trying to get the scent on himself and doesn't do much chewing, so the girls take his away since he obviously doesn't appreciate it lol. I think my dogs might just swallow the flossies whole lol. |
