I need help! Anybody with 6 or more?? I think I have a terminal illness! I see little hope for me in the future...I now have 6 babies. I'm talking to a girl about her little one she has to rehome, making #7 for me! Why do I look at the ads?! I know I'll be sukered in by the cuteness; I can't help myself. Poor DH, he just says get him, but you're taking care of him! This poor girl is splitting with her hubby, has kids and in a bind. She actually has 2 yorkies, male & female, but for some reason only advertised the male. He's a cutie.....says he's 3 lbs. Can't beat the price she asking, but......7 yorkies?! Someone please talk to me! |
:)Just wanted to say ...YOU are AWESOME! Your DH has to have a heart of gold to boot!!! |

If you think 7 is to many maybe you could offer to help rehome him or to foster untill she finds just the right home for him that way you only temperarely have 7 LOL But really you know you want him or you wouldn't even be asking us LOL |
Congrats! One more and you can change your screen name to OctoMom! :ghug: lol. That's great that you have so much love to go around. And your DH sounds like an angel. I can't get my DH to agree to TWO Yorkies! lol |

You know 7 is the number of completion. So how could you say no-this one completes your yorkie pack.:D |
If my DH said it was OK like yours, I wouldn't hesitate a second. What's one more when you already have six? You are blessed. :) |
I thought you were sick, too. I'm SOOO glad to hear you aren't (((hugs))) I think you and your husband are angels and I say you can do it :) They take care of you as much as you take care of them, right? |
At some point you really will need to say "no". Sounds like you have a heart of gold and really care, but need some help letting go. Trust me when I say I totally understand! I have 7 .. it was eight until one of my pups passed away last month. Then, I have my fosters on top of that. My vet bills alone are scary. What you really need to do right now is sit down and take a pad and pencil out and write down the cost of these pups! Make a list that includes everything you spend on each one and then multiply that by the number of pups that you have. Be sure to include everything: food, grooming, yearly check ups at the vet, hw preventatives, flea preventatives, dentals. Ok...there might be more...I am only on my first cup of coffee, but you can get the general idea. After you have completed that list, think about emergencies and illnesses for that many and whether you could manage if one or more got sick and needed vet care and/or hospitalization. If you can afford all of that, and can take care of them, wonderful! If you cannot, then take a long look and do some soul searching, because if we do not say no, at some point we will be left feeling really terrible if we cannot help the ones we are responsible for. I have seen people cross that invisible line where they end up doing more harm than good. A couple of summers ago, I went to a photo shoot for pups and took all of mine for pictures. One by one they all became ill with some kind of virus. Two of them required hospitalizations with IV fluids. The vet bills for about a month were astronomical. I hope this helps you!! What you might also want to consider, since it seems so many yorkies are landing in your path (oh, trust me, I understand that as well...I feel like a yorkie magnet), is fostering for rescue. Then, you would have access to more homes to place them in. Good luck! Sounds like you and your hubby really love the pups!! |
Can't talk you out of it.. I have 7 myslef..lol |

God Bless you and your DH to be able to love and care for so many yorkies already. He is quite adorable. Perhaps, you could help rehome him as others have suggested? If not then, good luck with 8 yorkies! :ghug: :angelhalo |
I do have another question....this little guy is not neutered yet....is that going to be a problem with the other babies? I would think I'd want him to "settle" in a bit before being neutered. Any thoughts on that? |
You can always save money by grooming them yourself, giving them immunizations yourself, making your own heart worm preventative, etc. He really is adorable! Good luck with whatever you decide. :D |
