**UPDATE** Back home! with Viper.."Reggie" We are home!! Looong ride but everyone did good! No I didn't bring Ivy & Max to long. Let me start first with the shelter Sooooo sad they have so many dogs without homes :( And the smell was so bad that you could hardly stand it. On the way home the name Reggie came to us and he will come to that so maybe he had a name that sounded the same?? We got home about 7:30 and Max & Ivy liked him from the start! Even the cats didn't care??!! Now the bad, He was just neutered so will he stop humping??(poor Max) and he is lifting his leg on everything, so I have a pair of my undies on him with a pad so please tell me what I can do???!!! Those of you that have breeders what do you do? I'm going to see who sells belly bands!! And last night I put him in a cage in my room and he did sleep, thank god we needed it. Now the good... He and Max just loved playing, Max now has some one to play with:) And he is a love bug, so happy, giving kisses. Took getting a bath ok, was to happy playing with Max but he smelled so bad I had to give him a bath. And he did go poop outside last night when I took him out!! I'm just hoping that after some time the leg lifting will go away now he is soooo happy and I'm sure a little afraid too. Photos will come soon. So if any one knows any one that sells belly bands please let me know. |
Awwwwwww that's great news I'm glad he's doing well already except with the peeing xxx |
Sounds wonderful, so glad you all got home safely! Yorkie Haven Rescue sells belly bands and proceeds go to the Rescue! I would try that. I am actually going to be ordering my boys some. :) Yorkie Haven Rescue Boutique |
Congrats!!! Hopefully the marking will stop once he knows you, your home, and your dogs better. :) For now, I would just work on stopping it. Watch him as close as you can like you're potty training all over again and whenever he begins to lift the leg say "AH-AH" real loud and make him stop. And since he was just neutered, it may take some time for all the testosorne to go away. I'm sure it will get better. :) How awesome of you to rescue! I can't wait to see pics! |
I don't use the belly bands, but I have read in a pinch to use a tube sock! Cut the foot part off, and put the adhesive, sanitary pad inside the tube part and slide it around his middle and it should work until you find a place to order the belly bands. It should fit snugly enough....good luck! ~~~ Valerie |
Congratulations!! :) I'm glad you had a safe trip and are home with your new 'baby'! It's wonderful everyone is getting along so well. I like the name Reggie for him. Can't wait to see pics! I recommend belly bands, at least until you can get him trained. The best pads to use are the Walmart brand ultimate incontinence pads (they hold much more than sanitary pads & help prevent irritation). Many YT members sell the bands, and so does www.yorkiehavenrescue.com in the boutique. |
We waited almost 5 years before snipping Presley. He has never stopped humping. Though its not something he does constantly. Maybe one a day. Maybe waiting so long wasn't a good idea, but I couldn't bring myself to do it sooner. I'm wondering if we had done it earlier if that would have helped the urge. |

I have had my boys neutered during the last 2 weeks. One is 7 months, the other 6 months. They waited till they dropped so they wouldnt have to go in threw their tummy. Anyway, Baxter (the youngest) humps when he gets to playing really hard. lol It is almost like he loses his mind for a second because he is so excited. HA! He does it every few days for a split second (on anything). |
Bless you for rescuing this little guy. You are his guardian angel. Now he has a second chance. Sounds like a wonderful happy playful little guy. So glad your other guys took to him well. Good luck with the marking thing. I do think like the other poster said it's more of a dominance thing. Congratulations on your new addition. |

I sent you a pm. I forgot to mention in my pm that Stewie was neutered at 1.5 yrs old after he had already fathered a litter of pups and he NEVER lifts his leg in the house or humps anything so it can happen, just be patient..Bentley on the other hand marks everything, just ask RoscoesMommy42 , he even marked her..lol... |
So happy to see your post. Glad all went well and Reggie is now home with his new family. Congratulations and good luck. I would use belly bands and start training like you would a puppy again. Watch like a hawk or keep him in the kitchen during the time you can't watch him. It's great all are getting along. Buddy was neutered at 6months and the only time he seems to hump is after breakfast with his bed until I yell at him! Then is over. |
Congrats on the new furbaby! |
I am so happy that you all made it back safely. As far as the humping goes I have a female yorkie but my Jack Russell will hump our Boxer from time to time and they are both fixed. I agree with the others it is a dominance thing. Thanks for what you did you have a big heart and I wish you well.:) |
You got him....Welcome to YT REGGIE!!!! Yorkie Haven Rescue has very good Belly Bands that are priced just right...Good Luck and cant wait to see pics.... |

I'm glad everything worked out and you made it home safe! I hope things get better with the peeing... I use belly bands. They are a lifesaver |

I was just going to suggest that too! :D The boutique has belly bands in stock and IMO it s so fitting that a little rescue would also help other little rescues. :) As for the leg lifting, when I brought Bogey home from the shelter he too lifted his leg on EVERYTHING! I will never forget putting him down in the house and he ran right into the kitchen and peed 5 times! WHAT HAD I DONE!!!!! Belly band were my salvation and truth be told it was only for a very short time that I even needed to use them. Now almost a year later he is the best one of them all. ;) He never does anything in the house and no more belly bands. :D It might just be his new environment that has him marking and once he is settled in he will stop. Congratulaiton on your new little man Reggie! It is always so heartwarming to have a happy ending to a thread in the rescue forum. Reggie will forever be grateful for the loving home that you have given him. There is NOTHING like the love in the eyes of a precious little one that has been rescued. :luvu: Will be looking for those :2photo: |
:hearts-xx:cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::hearts-xx I am so excited for you! You have done a great thing here! I think Lily might never "talk" to me again if she could read what I'm about to say..... but every once in a while I catch her humping her toy, really only if we bring a new toy home. Maybe she is just a good hostess LOL:D Anyway Congrats and thanks for keeping us updated! |

Oh Reggie is such a great name for him! glad to hear the trip went well and that everyone is adjusting already. Hopefully the marking will stop soon. i think he may just be doing it because its a new place full of different smells. and the neutering may help with the marking and humping too. |
amanda350 is making me belly bands!!! :D What a kind and wonderful lady she is. The undies work better then nothing but I bet they will work so much better. The pad keeps moving in the undies so sometimes the pee will miss the pad altogether. Thank you Amanda:thumbs up:hug::mademyday:thankyou2:thankyou2 |
Congrats on your new baby. |
