I loved the movie but have still not watched the last part, even though we bought it. I knew from others that it was too sad to bear, know myself, and decided it was just better to not see the ending. Sometimes I do practice avoidance. |
Another great book for dog lovers is "Lost & Found" by Jacqueline Sheehan. It's about a woman who suffers a tragedy and then she meeets a black Lab named Lloyd. Every other chapter is told from Lloyd's point of view and the reader gets a peek into his emotions, etc. Good book. Everyone go hug their dog! |
I loved the movie and watched it again with my hubby this morning. It just reminds you how precious our furbutts are & that they dont judge you, they just love you. It was fabulous. Yes, it was sad, but it is a reality that we all have to deal with at some point. |
Uhm......... I hate to be the party pooper of this. I watched it with my kids, and of course they liked it, but I couldn't really get into the movie like that. So, uhm, I didn't see the end part of the movie........maybe I'll go back and watch it to the end this time. |
It was a good movie and yes the ending was sad but I would see it again it was that good. It makes you appreciate your dogs more |

it made me ball my eyes as well, but it was still good...very long movie though! |
Great movie, but your face will be red and puffy from all the crying you'll do. Don't worry, there's a lot of laughing too:) |
so Marley & Me has been on HBO for the past few days.... i couldn't escape it. i just watched it again. cried and cried at the end...again LOL still a great movie |
I cried like a baby during this... I was really sad afterwards but its a very good movie |
Movie is not funny at all, and is very sad. It just highlights the selfishness in humans and their insignificant problems in this pathetic every day life. It also points out how materialism can make or break a family, never mind a dog. I was very angry leaving the theater and was mad for the remainder of the day. |
I cride for a week after reading the book and for a few days after watching the movie. It's based on a true story, which makes it even more sad. |
I just cannot bring myself to watch this movie, I cry just thinking about it.. as a matter of fact I'm crying now just typing this:( I am an emotional wreck when it comes to sad movies. This is one of those movies I will never see! I just know I wouldnt be able to handle it emotionally.. |
Oh man, I held Meg in my arms and cried like a baby during that movie. I will never watch it again, but I'm glad I saw it. I think it does make you appreciate your fur-babies more. |
I thought it was very funny at the first! The ending was sad- but it was a good movie - about a family growing with their dog!!! I have read the book a couple of times, too! I cried!!! |
I have to agree with the previous posters...great movie. It has lots of comedy but also deals with the reality of life. |
It was a great movie with a lot of funny moments. But the ending was bittersweet. I cried too for the memories that it brought back of different dogs from my childhood. :aimeeyork |
I've watched Quill, I've watched 10 promises to my dog...and cried my eyes out. Literally crying like a baby and even my husband had tears streaming down his face for the above two movies!!! SO, I told myself I will NOT rent Marley and Me because I know that I am going to be crying buckets at the end of the movie...BUT I read the book! I was crying openly on the train and..as you know...I was met with many strange stares from the morning rush hour folks. But I could not stop my tears.. If you liked dog movies, please watch the Japanese movie Quill & 10 promises to my dog - I think it is so meaningful and made us appreciate our dogs and also our loved ones more. :) |
It's a beautiful story and an excellent movie! :):):) Enjoy it!!! |
"Marle and Me" was nothing special for me. :thumbdown Okay, I guess I will have to be the spoiler of the group. I had high hopes for the movie. I expected more of a "dog" movie and not so much of a "relationship" movie. I turned it off about 2/3 into it. Not my kind of movie at all and was very disappointed with it. Anyone else not like the movie besides me? I know, I know, I am a hard case. I thought the trailer was better than the movie and I just HATE THAT! ~CD |
I saw it last night on HBO and I cried so hard at the end. I was definetly missing Mooney. But really most people that had a dog that bad would have given him up or kept him outside, especially when he kept waking the kids up. I don't know if I could have taken that one--lol--kids need naps so Mom's can keep their sanity :D What is you favorite scene? |

Yeah u might've turned it off too soon. It's about the relationship, true enough, but really comes full circle to being abt the dog, Marley, in the end. I think it was sad but also a tribute to a lifelong family dog. No on here expects our pets to live forever (anyone here have an immortal Yorkie? lol), but the stories we can tell abt them and the memories we cherish within our families is what will matter in the end. |

I cried like a baby the entire movie. Seriously, if you're feeling sad and blue - do not watch it. If I had known the outcome, I wouldn't have tuned in. |
