Separation Anxiety????? Today is the first time I did not put Brandi in her xpen while I am at work. While she was in her expen, she would mostly sleep off and on all day. However, today she just seems like she doesn't know what to do with her self. She has been pacing back and forth all day Below is a link to my website. She's been pretty active all day so you should see her walking back and forth to the door. I left her in my bedroom with the door close. She has her potty pad (which by the way, it looks like she has been using it...woohoo), water and her bed and some toys. I also left the radio on for her but to me the pacing back and forth looks like separation anxiety....need others opinions. Check out the webcam and let me know. It's a little dark, forgot to adjust the camera when I left this morning but you can still see her. Thanks http://68.83.85.251:8080/?src=1&mode=0 |
Oh shoot, now she doesn't want to show her pretty little face, maybe she finally decided to a nap.:p |
Nope, she is waiting by the door for your return!! :D |
We put Zeus in his X pen when we leave. One day my husband couldn't catch him and just left him loose in the house. When I got home he was barking like crazy. I think being left in the house all alone created anxiety he normally did not have in his pen. He usually sleep the whole time we are gone too. I think they feel safer in their pens. |

I think you are right....she's probably not use to soo much space. I figure since she was doing so well in her expen (by holding it in all day or using her potty pad) I thought maybe she should have a little more freedom. I give her a little more time. I'm sure she just needs to adjust a little. She did with her expen so she should be okay with this as well. |

Poor baby, she's jumping up and down, I hope you left the door keys in a safe place :p |
With all the jumping around she is doing you will no doubt get some good rest tonight:D |
So what do you guys think? Is this separation anxiety? |
Anxiety yes but not so sure on the separation anxiety. She is fine when you leave her alone in her pen she just has to get used to the bigger space. She is so cute by the way. |

How old is she? She looks tiny. |
She's 8 yrs old and weights 5.7 lbs, when I got her last October as a rescued she only weighed 4.2 lbs so she has regained her weight back. She was used for breeding and was not very well taken care of. All of her teeth had to be pulled and all of hair had to be shaved off. Her hair has grown back in nicely as long as I keep it brushed. |
aaaahhh, i can see her pacing behind the door! I think you need to break it into baby steps. Sushi used to be in her pen during the day while I was at work. When she was older and more reliable, I started with little bits of freedom here and there. First, I left her out of the pen (with access to the pen of course, so that she could retreat to her sanctuary whenever she felt the need) only in the morning when I went to the gym for an hour before work. Then she graduated to being left out of the pen all morning until noon. Then I would come home at lunch, put her back in, then go back to work. And finally she got complete run of the house after that. The whole transition took abour 2 months. But she adjusted well. |
Poor thing. I am sure she is loving you then. She looks healthy to me. I hope she settles down soon and can relax enough for a little nap. Best Wishes! |
Oh, she is beautiful! I saw her close up as she walked past the camera. She looks like our very first yorkie "Baby". She is a little doll. She obviously misses you. Jackie & my :littleang Sophie :aimeeyork |
She is definitely my baby.....I managed to brighten up the camera from work.....didn't know I could do that until now. She is just a little jumping jelly bean today. |
How did you set up the WebCam Your baby is so cute and she's still pacing in front of the door!!...I would love to be able to watch my boys when I'm at work. How were you able to set this up so you can watch her online? |
I don't believe it  (think god for Nature's miracle). She just took a pissed inches from the potty pad....ugh! I gott stop watching this stupid camera. Between being on yorkie talk and watch my yorkie on the webcam....I ain't getting no work don. |

i feel bad seeing her reach for the doorknob. did she even nap at all today. she seemed really anxious. please for her own health and your peace of mind; it's best to leave her in her xpen. good luck and by the way she's adorable :) |
I feel really bad for her too. This is the first time i've done this. That's why I put the webcam on her so I could see her behavior. I wanted to know if it was too stressful for her. She is usually in her expen. What I would like to do is cut down on the amount of space by confining her to a small section in my bedroom. My goal is to one day let her have run of the house. She's been in a crate her whole life and I just wanted to be able to change that and give her a little more freedom. I think it can be done but as one poster said, it has to be baby steps. |

My mother lives on my way to work and babysits Toby so he is around someone so much I think he actually enjoys his occasional alone time. We never used a crate or a pen and he has never been bad (as far as we know) while we were away although we never left him alone until we felt we could trust him.We were aprehensive at first about getting a Yorkie after some of the stories we heard but we have never for a second regretted it.He has been a perfect gentleman so I guess we are lucky.:) |

Well what I got home from work today, she left me a few presents so I will continue to keep her in her crate for now. Today was just an experiment to see how she would react. Poor thing...now that I am home, she has finally went to sleep. Thank you all for your response....you can tune in tommorrow but it will be really boring as all she does is sleep off and on most of the day. She usually starts waking up about an hour before I come home. I think she knows that when it is crate time I will be gone for a long time and she doesn't drive herself crazy. The stress is definitely not good for her so for now, it's back to a more confined space. |
