Mascara brush for a toothbrush..:/
 
I've been having a terrible time trying to find a brush small enough for Bailey's little mouth. A baby toothbrush is to big, so while opening up a new mascara today I thought maybe the brush for that would work, I used it tonight and it worked much better then the toothbrush I have been trying to use! Still I went to the petstore today and the girl there told me she uses gauze for her 3lb Chi..thought that would work too, anyone try gauze wrapped around a finger?

I recently got braces on my bottom teeth. UGH! Anyway, I found a small brush made for cleaning between my braces that works great as a Yorkie toothbrush. It is small and rounded. I think it was a Crest, but not sure. I found it with the floss, not the tooth brushes. This may work for you too!:D

Did you use the mascara wand with mascara on it? I would suggest buying some brand new disposable ones that haven't been in contact with the mascara.

I use gauze to brush Mocha's teeth because he doesn't let me get near his mouth with any type of brush. The gauze works great, and I use a tooth scaler for the heavier tartar.

Well..um..no of course not!:eek::eek: It's Lash Blast mascara and when you buy it the brush and tube are separate, I just figured people automatically would assume it was a clean mascara-free brush;)

Thanks for the gauze review..think I will try that next :)

Phew! I was hoping that it would be one of those seperate, clean brushes, but I just had to throw it out there to make sure ;) I LOVE the Lashblast mascara, it's probably my favourite mascara of all time! It's even better than the $30 high-end mascaras!

Anyway, back on track here...yes, the gauze does work very well. Happy teeth brushing! :D

I would keep an eye on Bailey's gums...just to make sure the mascara brush isnt too hard :D

Yes, I checked and the brush is actually alot softer then the toothbrush..but I think I'll go with the gauze next, Bailey doesn't seem to care when I rub my finger a long his teeth..so fingers crossed!:)

What a great idea!!! I've wondered what to use for Bijou's puppy mouth as the petstores around me don't have cat toothbrushes. My DH has braces and just bought some of these. The ones he has are made by Dentek and called easy brushes. I would have never thought to use these in Bijou's mouth. I was going to try Qtips, but I worried that it'd leave some cotton in her mouth. Thanks for the information.

I think the mascara brush idea is pretty brilliant :D! If you go to the makeup brush sections, like in Target, you can buy just the brushes by themselves too!

I use the colgate wisps for Myah. After I get done using them, make sure the little ball thing is gone, I disinfect them and use them for her. The are the perfect size and she doesn't fight me as much.

What about trying the little brushes they use for braces to get inbetween the wires? You can buy them where the floss is at. Also maybe even some good quality q-tips?

I haven't tried these but they look neat. I wonder if the freshening bead is safe for dogs though? :confused:

I don't use the new ones on her. I use them myself, make sure the bead is gone. Disinfect them and reuse them for her. They work wonderfully.

Aw to bad it ddin't work for you, the mascara brush I used I find fairly good, I brushed Bailey's teeth tonight with it and it went will, there are other mascara brushes that I use ( for mascara! ) that would not work for brushing his teeth, but I like the lash blast brush..I'm still going to try the gauze though! :)

my sister uses a baby tooth brush and peanut butter flavored toothpaste. what kind of tooth paste are you all using? Mine doesn't like the toothpaste that comes with the brush.
