What could I have done? so upset!!!! Last night, it was cold ! the temperatures dropped down where I live. I was woken up be a terrible crying, moaning, sound. I thought it was a child crying somewhere close to me building. my son , goes to school at 6:15am . I told him I could hear a child or something crying all night long. My son goes out the door, and tells me, "mom that is a dog!" he is angry and upset the animal sounds hurt, in pain and nobody is doing anything! It was too early in the morning , still dark , to do any investigating. I did not hear the animal anymore , but then thought the worst. At 12 noon, I hear the dog once more hysterical .This time I took action, and followed the crying and hollering noises. It came from accross the street somewhere in a apartment complex . I take my cell phone with me in case I needed help with a injured dog somewhere. I come accross the dog .It is a baby chi. A little puppy in an upstairs apartment , locked outside on their balcony .The baby puppy sees me, and pushes its little body between the bars that he/she could easily have fallen into my arms. The pup wants me, wagging it's tail , and excited to see me . I get scared that the baby is going to try and jump. I look to see the apt number, then head straight to the manager's office. I tell her that I live accross the street and have listened to a puppy screaming and crying as in pain ALL NIGHT Long! The manager wants me to show her, and I do ! Sure enough the puppy is there crying . The poor little baby Chi has been there all night long in the cold screaming. Nobody in the complex had reported it ! If I could hear the baby screaming , I know others must have too! As we I am talking to the manager and we are looking at the balcony the sliding glass door opens a crack and the tenants let the puppy inside. I told the manager again the pup has been left on the balcony screaming and hollering all night long in the cold weather! The manager is going to take care of it. I am so sad for the puppy. Could not have been more then 8-12 weeks old. I do not understand people ! How could they have done this? :( So sad and angry. The little puppy is so cute, and must have been freezing all night. |
that makes me so mad, i hope you can report them somehow and get the puppy removed from them and given to a loving home that would take of it. stupid people make me so angry. poor baby!! i hope you can do something about their horrible ownership somehow. |
That is so sad. They must have saw you. Idiots! Chihuahua's don't take cold weather well and leaving any dog on the balconey in the cold is bad, especially when they are up high catching all the air. |
OMG I'm sick! You did the right thing however now you need to watch and see if that puppy is out in the cold again. Then I would call the cops and they should be able to direct you to the animal welfare person to look into the matter. Each city, village has someone in charge of animal protection I think. Here they do. That poor puppy freezing all night long. I would let the police handle this. You don't know what kind of people your dealing with here. That's a terrible story. I feel bad that now it's going to drive you nut's until you know for sure this puppy is inside and safe. At least as safe as it's going to be living with such horrid people. |
You did good going over their and reporting them :) |
Poor little baby :( |
wow how horrible!! Does your phone have a camera?? The next time this happens or anything that you can catch.. take a picture of it and take it and show animal control... maybe they will start to investigate them |
i'd like to see those people spend the night on the balcony with nothing to keep them warm! :thumbdown |
Thats so wrong.. you know what they probably got this puppy and maybe the puppy was crying a lot and they didnt want to listen to it so they locked it outside for the night... I mean why else would they do that!!:mad::mad: I could nevvvvvvvvvvver do that to anything living!! Thats horrible.. Poor Poor chi..and you know the sad thing is treatment to this chi will get worse, if they have the mind to do that what else will they do?? |

Thank goodness there are people like you in the world who react when there is a need for something to be done. I'm amazed how so many people are numb to there surroundings and don't notice or CARE that someone or something could need help. You should be very proud of yourself for taking action. |
I would have gone straight up there and told the owner I'd take the puppy since it's obvious they don't want it and if they get nasty then I'd tell them that if I see or hear that puppy on the balcony at night like that again, I'll call the police and have it taken from them. What moron's. |

This is absolutely appalling ! Good for you. So many people don't want to get involved especially if it's a neighbor. You definitely did the right thing! I say NO SECOND CHANCES and if you hear it again I would do what Archie suggests and call the police. Anyone who would treat a little dog that way could be capable of anything. Jackie & my :littleangSophie :aimeeyork |
good on you for going over, but i would ring animal control, chis do not tolerate any type of cold, i know i have a beautiful long haired girl, these ppl are very cruel to treat any dog like this let alone a very young puppy and do not deserve to have this dog, puppys can drive us mad at times crying when we bring them home first, but after doing research, which every new owner should do about their intending breed you know this will be part of your wonderful journey with your new companion, friend. i am so sad but also mad:confused: |
That is horrible. Yes, I would take pictures and call animal control. The reason for it...it will give a record of it. The more evidence that you can collect the better the chances are that they will take action if needed. And it seems that it is needed in this case. I once called on a neighbor who kept her afghan out on the balcony with a bowl of food and water and it's own mess. She kept it on there all day long. We finally wound up giving it water because it had spilled it bowl. The balcony was covered in it's own poo (lots of it) Animal control took the dog, but then she got it back. Then she shaved him to the skin! and left him on the balcony again. I called a 2nd time and they took the dog. So the more documentation, the better the case to take that baby away. The sad part of it all is that that poor baby will have to suffer before it can be helped. maybe if animal control steps in it will wake them up however. We can only pray that, that happens for the sake of the puppy. good luck and please don't beat yourself up, you didn't know and certainly would never expect someone to mistreat a puppy like that. Hugs, Bo |

thank you all for the wonderful feedback .If I ever hear this baby cry again, no matter what time it is , I will, be calling the police. No more chances given for those stupid people. They are not neighbors , just some people who live in a apartment complex accross the street, who obvioulsy did not care about their puppy. The manager told me that they must have just got the pup. The manager was clueless. Now she is not . I don't think they are even suppose to have pets in there. I am going to follow up with her, and see what action she did to ensure this NEVER happens again. |
let us know what happens |
aspca or police would get a call. That is animal abuse to the fullest |
If these people really did put the puppy outside because it was crying I would hate to think what they would do with a crying human baby. How disgusting...the thought of people like that makes me sick. I hope that it goes to a better loving and WARM home. |
K, I understand why you are upset, I would be too, how can people ignore somenthing like this:mad::thumbdown |
How sad and sickening! And good for you!! Try calling your local animal control officer if you have one and get it reported! That is so upsetting. Some people shouldn't have pets!! |

I feel badly not acting sooner , at least take the pup home into a warm house. Then find a new place for the little one to live . |

That asolutely breaks my heart :( I don\'t know why some people even get a pet, it doesn\'t make sense!! I\'m so glad you didn\'t chose to ignore the puppies cries like so many others choose to do! |
That absolutely makes my blood boil. I can\'t believe people are that stupid. Nooooo, they are out and out mean. That is cruel and abuse. I wish when something like that happens that the animal could be taken away from them and never, ever, returned. But, then our laws are so crazy, look how many little children have been abused, only to be returned to some low life. |
l am so happy you reported them to the manager. lt\'s terrible the way people can actually get away with the cruel way they treat animals. You did the pup a great service by reporting these idoits. l would report it again if it continues to happen to the pup. |
That is so sad. I agree, What is wrong with some people???? My ex neighbor had 2 little dogs, one was a miniature Cocker Spaniel and I don\'t remember what the other breed was but it too was little. We had a snow storm that knocked the electric out of our block for over a week. For 3 days, this lady left those puppies outside!! I was furious!! I finally knocked on her door and told her to put those babies inside. Some people should never be allowed to own a pet. |
I\'m pretty sure you can call either animal control/the pound, and the dog can be taken away if it\'s being abused. I\'m also fairly certain that the owners can be prosecuted if there\'s a case of abuse or neglect. This would make me so angry too! I sure hope that the little puppy has a better life than what has been shown so far! |
