All of the advice and comments here make so much sense. Lots of new ideas to try, thanks. Any suggestions for re-training?! My girls were both adults when I got them from the breeder. They were (supposedly) potty trained to a litter pan with puppy litter. Since coming home, they go all over! I've tried everything!! Suggestions...PLEASE!

I've been buying factory 'seconds' puppy pads for the past 12 yrs now with no problems from my 2 little 4 1/2 lb. yorkie girls. The pads fit the form thats sold to hold them in place, the girls both use the same on without problems.
I do clean up after them and the oldest even folds over the corner somehow to cover up her pee... I thought only cats did that ????

Anyways I've been buying factory "seconds" puppy pads from Ebay. The latest funny, not really, thing that happened was the shipper accidently sent me a second shipment. The first shipment being 10 cases. When I got home and found a second shipment of 10 more cases,sent by mistake. I just froze and thought, "What am I gonna do with 20 cases"?, Each case holds 200 puppy pads. Well, we paid for them and have them stored for future use.If you want to check the 'factory seconds' out in ebay you can PM me for the link. I laugh now about the 20 boxes of pads but didn't at the time. They will last for years now !! Good luck with your training !

Rockie presently uses one pad a day because he is trained to go outside. l was having a problem attempting to wee wee pad train him only for the inside on the pads. l finally discovered he loves to potty outside. He pottys only throughout the night on his pad. We purchase the box of simple solutions from petsmart of one hundred in a box.

I forgot to mention that both of my little girls go outside on the grass when the weather is warm but not every day. They are trained to use both indoor and outdoor facilities.

I have three that share one washable pad a day. They are not messy to pick up like the disposables. No puddles underneath. I really like them!

Mine all share with no problems! i don't use it in a litter box though

Oh, I'm gonna have to try the point! Fancy will go potty when I take her outside and say "Go peepee potty" and then she comes up to me for praise and then I have to tell her "Go poopoo potty" and then she will go do number two BUT she takes FOREVER finding the 'perfect spot' and it drives me crazy. Fancy hates wet grass from either the rain or dew on the ground which is why I think it takes her longer - she stands on the gravel and backs her booty up to the edge of the grass.

all 4ine use the same washable pad with out any problems i have the bigger ones and it will last allday if for some reason they dont go outside .but i have found lately that i prefer the litter called yesterdays news made from compressed newspaper and they seem to like it better and very little smell

I use the washable pee pads also. I was trying to train for inside and outside pottying, but it just didn't work out. They were doing good just using pads inside. When I started taking them outside in the evenings to potty they started going everywhere in the house(a couple of times even on the couch:(), since we just use pads inside now they are doing much better. They seem to prefer the washable pads(not as many accidents when I put those down,verses the disposable ones)

We have also been using the disposables that I bought from RDB911 :thumbup:. They are great! However for some reason Bayleigh decides on some days she wants to destroy them. So, now I am going to order the washable ones from Ryan too. His prices are great! Good luck to you.

I was wondering, why do you feel you need to put the pad in the litter box? It just seems that is too much for a little puppy to do. It needs to be easy for them & not anything to think about. Climbing up in there is probably too much of a chore. Just an idea.

That is a great idea! Cost effective and eco-smart! Where did you get them from and what size are they? I would like to get some and have them for a large size doggy litter pan.

I don't really smell anything and I have two that pee on the pad several times throughout the day. I would think if you changed it often enough you shouldn't have a problem. And I've moved mine around in the house some and they always seem to find it if I show it to them over and over for the first few days. I would be careful expecting too much out of your new baby though. You WILL step in pee or poop at some point in time (probably several times). No biggie, just wash your foot off or take off your sock and go on about your business. He's just a baby. He doesn't realize you have medical issues and bought him in an effort to alleviate those. All he knows is he's a baby. He will pee in the floor, he will poop on the floor, he will bark, he will take forever finding his weewee spot outside when it's freezing cold, he will chew stuff, he will bite, he will eat bugs, he will stick his tongue up your nose, etc etc. Any dog in the world would. It's just all in how you choose to deal with it I think. Personally, instead of getting anxious or upset over it...I laugh at it. Those little quirks are what make them adorable. They are what melt your heart when you think about them during the day and wonder what they are doing.

I hope you are patient with your baby and know he doesn't realize he's expected to help your anxiety. I think if you have the right outlook about him he will do wonders to bring joy and peace into your life. Good luck! :)
