| ![]() Hey everyone. I'm getting my furbaby neutered tomorrow. I really would like to know your experiences because at this point I need a few words of comfort, I'm really nervous about the procedure. Also can you guys tell me your experience after the surgery? For instance how fragile is he with the stitches do I need to be extra careful? He has the habit to rub himself on furniture or run his body through it every morning when he wakes if he does that will it affect his stitches? Also how long did it take until he completely heals? Sorry for being so paranoid just a little worried over here it's the first time I'm doing this. Thank you for your support ![]() ![]() xoxoxo |

| ![]() Rily did great! Slept all evening afterwards, a little sore the next day....but after that....pretty much back to normal. However, he chewed his stitches out. ![]() ![]() Good luck! He will be okay! ![]()

| ![]() Hi Maria, welcome to YT. Gosh when I had Sam neutered, I was a nervous wreck too. I think we all are. Sam had NO complications from his. His stitches disolved and really you cannot even see where the procedure was done. My vet said to treat him like I normally did that he was fine. He also kept him for observation tho for 24 hours, thats his standard procedure for everyone. I *think* it was about a week for the stitches to disolve but cant remember exactly.

| ![]() When we got Gucci neutuered, it wasn't that big of a deal to him. I think we were more nervous about it than he was. He did great. His stiches were on the inside and the outside was glue, so we really didn't have an issue with him. When he came home, he was really groggy. He didn't want to do much more than sleep. About 1-2 hours after he was home, we got him to drink some water. The doctor told us if he was able to keep that down, then we could feed him. He ate just a little then it was time to go to bed. The next morning, you couldn't even tell that anything had happened. I wish you the best tomorrow. I would get a rough estimate of when he is due out of surgery and then give a call to the vet. They might get so busy that they don't have a chance to call you. Most of the time, they will be more than happy to give you an update. Good luck...I will say a special prayer for you tonight.

| ![]() I know you are worried but I hope it comforts you to know this is such a common procedure that your vet should be able to do it with his eyes shut and your baby will be just fine. I am a worrier too! Good luck and let us know how he does ![]()

| ![]() My vet also kept Harley for 24 hours after his neuter. My vet is really close to my work and I know alot of the girls that work there so I even got to sneek into recovery to check on him the first day! They did send him home with some pain meds to give twice a day for the fist two days which I think was really just to keep him "groggy" so he would not do more than he needed to. I waited until Harley was almost 7 months old to schedule his neuter around the Thanksgiving holiday, that way I was home with him for a full 5 days afterwards, but of course that was just me being overprotective! | ![]() Thought that I would suggest something. You may want to try to hide your feelings from him tomorrow. That might make him more nervous. I know that I have to hide my feelings sometimes from my dogs, however, they seem to pick up on something anyway.

| ![]() I was really nervous too but Hot Rod came did well. He was groggy and slept for about 3 days but then he was back to his ol' self. The hard part was keeping him from running and jumping! He was supposed to take it easy for 10 days. Good luck and let us know how he does. ![]()

| ![]() I can understand how you feel, Maria. I felt the same way when I had Rudy neutered. I'm sure your furbaby will do just fine. We picked Rudy up around suppertime that evening and he was out of it & sleeping all evening. The next day you would not have known anything happened to him. ![]()

| ![]() I looked at this thread because I'll be going throught the same thing with Kimbo soon. He'll be 6.5 months at the end of November (during Thanksgiving holidays as well). I'm already a wreck, so I know how you feel. 24 HOURS??!! I don't think I can do that! |

| ![]() I have never had one neutered, just wanted to say that you wouldn't be a good momma if you weren't nervous. I am praying for a safe & speedy recovery!
