Citronella Collar Has anyone used this type of collar to decrease barking ? What brand works best.? Does anyone have an extra one they want to sell.? PS I have tried every trick in the book to stop excessive barking from my Yorkie. Thanks |
I dont know anything about this type of collar but that is what Yorkies do. They are little Yappers. I think any kind of collar that restaints him from barking is very cruel. JMO |

:confused:I thought citronella was to repel flying insects. (I wouldn't use any type of collar!) |
Here's Another Suggestion I would be careful using a collar. But, our vet suggested DAP. It's a dog appeasing pheramone. It mimics the scent a mother dog releases when she is lactating to calm and comfort her puppies. They sell a spray and an air diffuser to release into the environment. Our vet swears by it for calming. We are trying it the first time we fly. You can also spray it on a bandana and tie it around your dog's neck loosely. Good luck! |
I literally JUST seen an add for these collars in the sunday paper! They are not Citranella... They are citrus collars. When your dog barks, it shoots out a mist of natural lemon citrus. It does not harm the dog, it just bothers them a little because their sense of smell is so strong. In the article, it said that trainers are using these now for excessive barking. I had to look them up on line for more details because it made me curious... They start at $50.00 on Ebay. |
Last night on It's Me or the Dog someone was using one of these. According to Victoria they only work for so long because the dog becomes conditioned to them and it ends up not working anymore. I've never used one but I'm a pretty loyal Victoria fan, so I wouldn't use one. But that's just my personal opinion. |
