Hello Yorkie.com Hi there My name is Nancy, and I just found this website. I am the proud "Momma" to two Yorkies, Brutus, and Portia. My Brutus (my son) is 14 years old, and having some health issues. He has been diagnosed with Cushing's Disease, and is currently on medication for that. He has difficulty hearing and seeing, but we love him more than ever.( oh, did I mention that he has no bladder control either?!) My little girl, Portia, is "my heart". She is 12 years old, but very spunky and playful. I have owned dogs most of my life, but never felt the love I feel for these two precious little bundles. It is hard to watch Brutus get old, but we are determined to keep him with us for as long as we can keep him comfortable. I look forward to chatting with other Yorkie owners. Nancy V. |
Congrats on finding Karlee a new home!!! We wish her well....... and also to your family in hopes that your allergy issues will diminish!!! Something so very difficult to do, but for Karlee and your family a responsible decision. Wishing you all the very best from Shelby, Seymour and me!!!! :goodluck: |
Karlee is home with her new family and I feel I made a wonderful decision, the new owner is a YT member on here and she is SUPER nice! Karlee seemed extremely happy with her new owner and I am feeling good tonight to know she is home with a family that will be able to love her like we did. I am excited to see updates from her new family. Just wanted to thank all you for being so kind to me and I know God worked it out for Karlee to go to a wonderful family. Her new family even said we could visit her I know Karlee is going to adjust well and I feel blessed that she has a great family with her now. I was proud of myself I cried before we met with Karlee's new family but when I met Karlee's new owner I felt at ease and knew it was the right family for Karlee to be with. Hugs to all of you! |
Have you had allergy tests? They will tell you if you are allergic to dogs. It is strange that more than one person has it. I've read that in most cases they never find the cause. I would suggest vacuuming all your carpets and furniture and throwing the vac bag away and put the vac. in the garage until after you have tried this. Wash all bedding and any throw rugs. Ask a friend/relative to take the dog to their home for a couple of weeks to see if having her out of the house makes any difference. .Have you gotten new carpeting or sheets, clothing-- furniture? I had hives for 5 years and the drs. didn't know what caused them. I found Zyrtec (prescription at the time) and it was wonderful. It took affect within minutes of taking it. Good luck. |

Those of us who have read through this ENTIRELY or have followed along know you did everything you could. ;) Besides, her second family is willing to let you all visit if ever you decide you need a good rash. LOL:p Let's support this decision people! Karlee has a wonderful new family, and her original family can lead healthy lives while still being a part of hers. What a blessing!:) |

Yes, they definitely have and I hope that everyone that has not followed this understands how hard they tried to keep little Karlee. I saw first hand tonight what happens to her when she is with Karlee. It is so sad that it came to this, but I hope that people that see this thread for the first time look at the whole thing and know that they didn't just do what was simple and get rid of her. They tried and tried to find a way to keep her. They are very loving people and Karlee is so so sweet and has very obviously been loved tremendously. She loves everyone and LOVES to give lots of kisses. :p She is loved already by my family and I know that love will only grow. |

I'm so glad you were able to work everything out for Karlee!! I know what it's like to have allergies to those furry members of the family! When I was little I was terribly allergic to animals, but thankfully, grew out of it! I know Karlee will be happy in her new home, and I'm glad that you can still see her in case you need a good rash as someone else said! On a serious note, I read the thread and know what you went through! God works in awesome ways to help those in need! |

Hi I just read most of this thread and I feel so bad for you guys that you had to give up your baby. I too have allergies to my new little pup .Tommy is only 12 weeks old tomorrow. Not as bad as your family but my eyes are always red, sore, swollen ,itchy and painfull especially at night. I cant take a lot of allergy meds because it causes a lot of heart palpitations. I am hoping after his new coat comes in things will be ok.He is going to be a silky yorkie. I got my older yorkie as an adult so had no reaction to him I can relate to you so much. You try everything you can to fix the problem but it is next to impossible. You dont want it to be your baby and try to find if it is anything else. Sadly the reality sets in that it is indeed your baby and you are faced with giving them up as I might be faced with in the near future. The longer you have them the harder it is.:(You found her a wonderfull home and that wil go a very long way in you and your families healing. I just want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. |
I've followed your thread daily and feel like we've all gone through this with you. I haven't posted much, as others gave you the wonderful advise that was needed. I want to say Thank You for Karlee and for us! The Thank You goes to you and your family, for loving her enough to do all that could possible be done to keep her and then to find her a loving wonderful home with another YTer for her. And for keeping us posted on your progress. I hope that you'll stay with us and pass on the knowledge that you've learned to future members. :ghug: Kristen, Thank you for taking this baby into your family and loving her! I'm so glad that your paths crossed and that Karlee's in a wonderful home. I look forward to reading your updates on how your all doing! |
