Karlee has begun to get a longer coat it now is around a inch hanging on each side of her its still shorter but that is a great idea. My hubby said last night that he could give her a bath instead of me giving her one and see if that helps out.

Also thank you for those defending my situation to a post about someone that was wanting Karlee to give her to a boyfriends sister that was mentally handicapped and who wants her for breeding. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings or step on anyone's toes over my posting but I feel if I do have to rehome Karlee she needs to be in a home that she can be cared for like a baby. She is used to kids playing with her all the time and requires a lot of attention at times. If I have to rehome Karlee I really want someone who will put her in a home much like the situation she has now. There have been quite a few emails to me that have said they would love to take Karlee and give her a good home, for that I am thankful, and most have really good intentions- a few things I do want to note- if I do have to rehome Karlee I would not want to ship her I would either require for her to be picked up from my home or I would meet with someone at a reasonable distance from my hometown. That being said right now I'm going to do everything I can to work out to keep Karlee...for those that have offered to watch Karlee for us to help us through this situation I want to give a big Thank You! Its nice to know there is such caring people here on YT and those that have offered advice and for those that have posted to keep us in their prayers- Thank you!!! When I first posted I was really devasted and now after reading the postings its helped me through a great deal! I know there is a lot of caring people here on YT and you all have really helped me out so thank all of you. I have saved the emails of those that would like to give Karlee a good home and am thankful to those that could give her a wonderful home! Through YT I have learned so much on how to care for my baby girl and so glad to have this to come to when I need help! This morning I'm watching Karlee jump around and play with her toys she seems so happy, the last couple of days she has seemed clingy to me more than usual its like she senses what I've been feeling. There is several things I am going to try to help our allergies it seems like this morning I feel better than usual and my son was not complaining this morning of itching. We tried a dehumidifier and I have been vaccuming twice a day so right now that seems to help. I have went the extra mile and also been washing Karlee's bedding every other day instead of like every 4 days...my youngest son likes to get Karlee's blankets and lay them out on the floor so that too could have been stirring up a house full of allergies.

Hope things get better!!!! There's a new medicine that you rub on your lip that prevents allergens from going into your nose supposedly, so maybe that will help....but not with the hives. GOOD LUCK

This woman is in an emotional situation so obviously she cares deeply about her Yorkie and then you come on here and say I want to give her to someone who might possibly not be able to care for herself let alone a dog and I wanna breed her once a year. What a great life that would be for her..Did you even read the whole post? Why would she want another puppy, it is obvious she wants the one she has but she might be allergic. Are you aware that she is not free? I am sorry to seem rude, but I get so frustrated with extremely young posters and very uninformed posters that appear to not reread what they type. The situation that you so proudly flaunted is not one that I would ever consider putting one of my babies in.. Please do your homework before you think of breeding..

Amanda I am so glad you posted this. I was in shock when I read that!

I so hope that you can figure out a solution to this problem. My Jack came from the same situation and I felt so bad for the family. They had 3 boys and it was only the youngest that had the problem. They tried for 6 months to fix the problem. They come to visit him about once a month and after a few min of being with him the youngest breaks out with hives. It is just so sad. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for this to work out for you.

Adding another voice of agreement to what you posted. That was unbelievable! It is doubly sad when someone does not even realize they have suggested an abusive situation! I don't think I will forget that member name!

I live in northern California and I own a Yorkie Girl and a Maltesse girl
both of my babies are fix and they both have medical insurance. They are everything to me and I know how painful you giving her up is for your. I would love to take you Baby...am not sure how we would arrange for you to ship her to me and how would we make the monetary transaction work...am sure you can research this matter and then let me know.
I hope everything works out okay and that you are able to keep her but if not let me know.
Thanks

Hey there, I have to admit I highly doubt that the hives have any connection to your yorkie. I have to say I'm highly allergic to cats and dogs that shed alot but with my yorkie I'm absolutely fine. They're hypoallergenic and don't shed at all, well I'm not sure if all of them are like that but with mine I have absolutely no problem. Just a little advice out of my experience. I'd definetly say to reassure yourself about where the allergy is coming from before giving your little furbaby away. Take care and fill us in on any updates :D

I know others have mentioned shampoos, but wanted you to seriously think about ANYTHING you are using on her....even if you have used it in the past. We had a white german shepard for 11 years until she passed away last summer. Long story short I do have allergies, but usually not to dogs only cats. We took her to be groomed over Christmas week so she would be all pretty for Christmas company and when she came back, the next morning I started itching and by the end of the afternoon had hives all over my arms, it moved to my chest. Took benedryl, used creams but it just kept spreading. Called the groomer and she said it was the same whitening shampoo she has always used, by that night the hives were so bad my throat was getting tight and went to the ER where I got a shot.....my husband had already given her a bath the night before with our own shampoo in case it was something on her, but was still on my comforter (were she had slept on the bottom of the bed as usual) which just kept the hives coming back on.

Once I figured that out the next morning and washed the comforter they were finally gone......something in the formula of the shampoo had changed, and whatever they did or added to it caused the reaction.

Just wanted to suggest it could be a cologne you are using/have always used, or her shampoo. I had the same reaction one time to flowers that my husband had sent me.....it was some kind of spray the put on them and I touched them with my hand and touched my ear and face and both swelled up like a monster.

Might try bathing her in something non scented/non pretty and washing her bedding to see if just maybe that would do the trick.

Do you know how much stuff has red dye in it? Things you would never imagine like potato chips. We couldn't give her any cold medication, as it is all purple or red. The only thing we could give her was benadryl because it at least would combat the reaction to the red dye. She had thirteen eye surgeries over the years, and had reactions to anesthisia on three prior to finding one that was going to work for her. She is allergic to bees, wasps, mosquitos, ticks, soaps, washing powders, certain metals, cheap jewelry and who knows what else. Those are just the things we KNOW cause issues. She too breaks out in hives all the time, sometimes she can distinguish a cause, sometimes not. My 16 year old appears to be allergic to nothing. My husband has seasonal allergies, and I am allergic to milk, ice cream, mold, evergreen, eucalyptus, some soaps and detergents, benzol peroxide, amoxicillin, penecillin and codene. Wonder where she got the allergies from? LOL
Our doctors have always said to introduce things slowly. That is why the recommendation of using stuff on Karlee that you KNOW you are not allergic to such as food, grooming supplies, etc.
Like I said, I will definately keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and keep us updated. I know how devastated I would be if I had to give up one of my dogs.

You guys sound like me!!! I'm allergic to everything (okay not EVERYTHING but it seems that way sometimes) We do dye free, fragrence free detergents and fabric softners/dryer sheets. I know you said you are careful about shampoos ect. but what about flea medication? does Karlee use the drops on the back? maybe you guys are having a reaction to that. I'm sorry you are having so many problems. I hope everything works out for you and Karlee! I know she doesn't want to be seperated from her family.

Hi everyone wanted to update again, also wanted to thank all of you for the advice, comments and posts. There has been a lot of great info passed along that I was happy to find out about!

As for our situation its still a struggle with the hives outbreaks and I'm still having throat swelling, but, I have noticed my oldest son has been doing a little better. I have done everything to try to help our home to be allergy free the best I can and with all the advice...thanks for those that commented with all the great info!

We just are not sure what we are going to have to do yet. Karlee I have her on the same shampoo I use its dye free and fragrant free (the same kind I use) and the old bottle I compared to the new bottle same ingredients so I don't think that is it? Good advice there was given to me about the shampoos and I appreciate that.

My Mom came to visit and my Dad this weekend and as soon as my Mom held Karlee she complained of her eyes burning by that night they were red and swollen and she has stayed the week with us and they have'nt gotten a lot better. This has never happened to her so she definatly has suspicions about Karlee causing and triggering it...not sure I am fully thinking its that but I understand why she would think that its just a tough situation all together. Next weekend I'm going to visit them for my Dad's birthday they live 2 hrs away and we are going to let Karlee stay with a family member while we are gone to see if anything changes with our hives outbreaks and allergies thats one way to find out maybe.

Today I did get some good info I took my son to the doctor and I talked about our situation with Karlee this is what the doctor brought up, she said Yorkies were great for allergy sufferers most of the time but there is things to consider, a housepet is different than an outdoor pet- of course we all know that- but here was her points, she said that when we take Karlee out she is on her feet with her bare paws playing and running, brushing up against things and the grass and licking things...so when we bring her in the house she may have something on her paws that she tracks in to our carpet, couch, clothes ect...not to mention when she licks on us if she has ate any grass or licked on things or if she has brushed up against something we are allergic too then when we pet her it goes in the air for us to breath or sticks to our skin or clothes when we hold her. She suggested to use a wipe to wipe the pads of her feet off good and maybe to soak her feet for a min or two in some warm water and dry them off to make sure to get anything off her feet. Then she said to take a wipe or clothe and wipe her off good each time we go outside. That's a good point so I'm gonna try that see what happens. She said with our allergies the way they are it is possible that we are just all around allergic or that we may not ever know the true cause as there is so many possiblities to what triggers them. We are trying everything and hoping for the best!
