I thought Coby was dead.. today his whole body was stiff and his legs arms feet was all stiff he's whole body was was soo stiff i had no idea what happen his head was hanging too one side.. i went in a store and came out and coby was laying on his back... and his legs and arms and hands was shacking bad...its horrible.. i am sooo sad:confused: now he wont eat again the vet sent him home they took blood and they found out his white blood cells was high and his temp was 98. something i dont know.. if this dogs going too make it or what im am praying he dose this is the hardest tesk i have ever had too deal with the vet said coby had a seizure :confused: this is bad and the whole bill came too 375.00 which i didnt have i just spent 175 on weds so i had to apply for credit at the vet and i was approved for 500.00 i dont know whats going too happen..

How scary!! I am so sorry this happened to poor Coby! Please make sure he eats something. If you have to you can syringe canned food and water into his mouth. Please keep us updated.

Take a deep breath, pray hard, trust the vet to take care of him, and do everything you can to make him comfortable, to get him to eat a little (try boiled chicken or rice or both for a tummy soother) make sure he drinks plenty of water or put in some pedialite. check his gums for pinkness regularly, and just keep trusting the vet to know what to help you to do.

has anyone ever heard of this happening too a dog?

How old is Coby? How much does he weigh? Does he ever act off after he eats? When did he have his seizure?

Did you leave him inside the car while you went in the store? Was he alone? What were the temperatures there at the time? Is there anything in the car he could have gotten into?

I'm sorry he's not feeling well. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Im confused here , when you say you came out, do you mean you left him in the car?? It was quite hot here in Ma today, very hot infact in the car?? You cant leave a dog in the car not even for a minute in this heat. Maybe he was overheated???

my bug did the same thing. she is on the small side. she was stiff, head was stuck to one side. (sometimes the neck locks) Keep nutrical on hand at all times!!! I quick put nutrical in her mouth, wrapped her up and started rubbing. It took probably 1/2 an hour to bring her out of it. They are very close to dying at that point. A chill, lack of food or water, stress, excitement, a number of things can bring it on. They are very very fragile when they weigh so little. I didn't need to take her to the vet, thank goodness, because I had researched the subject to death before I got the girls and knew exactly what to watch for and what I was looking at when it happened. Had she not come out of it when she did, of course I would have. But, luckily it turned out okay. I failed to block the air conditioning vent in their room and it got chilled. I've been super vigilante about this health issue since the day I got them and that was my one (so far) failure. I hope it never happens again, because it is very scary. I think they are very very near death when it happens. That is one of the reasons that it is so important that these little ones are a bit older and weigh a bit more when we get them. It's all about survival and health. A teeny tiny dead puppy isn't nearly as cute as a little bit bigger little bit older live one.

Of course, heated cars and seizures are a whole 'nother issue....

If that is what happened -- arrrrggghhh! This poor little one already has so many strikes against him -- the breeder sold him too early, he did not yet weigh 2 pounds, and he flew for over 12 hours with plane changes to get to you. That is a LOT of stress for such a tiny baby. Are you giving him the Nutrical as suggested before? A seizure can be caused by low blood sugar. He is going to need extra care and kid gloves for a while, definately not left in a hot car!

He needs frequent small feedings. If he will not eat, use the syringe as suggested by Little Bit. Get some Goat's milk and dilute it with 1/2 water. Rub some of the Nutrical on his gums a few times a day. Keep him under CONSTANT supervision and be quick to react when he starts showing any sign of low blood sugar. Hopefully you have read all of the previous warnings about hypoglycemia. There is a sticky about it too.

You might want to contact the breeder to see if there is any way they will help with the vet bills. Since they were so unresponsive to the pup's needs before, I doubt they will willingly help, but you can try. Did they provide anything in the way of a health guarantee?

I am so sorry to hear little Coby is going through this -- I pray he will turn around and make it through this. But it is going to take a lot of help from you and your vet. Do not leave him alone for a minute. Keep him right with you, warm, fed, and safe.

A high WBC count is a sign of infection.
A temperature of 98 is far below the norm for a dog.

Sounds like other issues are going on with your little one.
Please keep in contact with the vet, and keep us posted as to

cobys 9 weeks old and weighs 1 lb 1/2 well he had the seizure like around noon time..
i just got done feeding him throught syringe.. baby food.. so i hope he'll be ok

no my daughter was in there with him i just ran in because he was sleep too get some wee pads for the house

you can find goat's milk at the walmart grocery aisle in the bakery section by the carnation milk, condensed milk, sugar, flour, that aisle. it's canned. Great stuff! Really really good for the baby!!!

well i had the windows down in the car.. so i dont think thats it the vet just called
me again too check on him she said she believes cobys has and infection because the white blood cells was high so thats why she gave me clavamox amooxicillin

Didnt your daughter notice something was going on with him? Or is she old enough?

he was in the car but my daughter was with him and he was asleep. and the windows was down the vets says coby has and infection somewhere and the meds should help him feel better

Hmm I don't know if something like that happened to Peanut (from how you explain it) and the vet just said it was an infection and sent us home.. I would get a 2nd opinion.

Glad that he is on an antibiotic. That should eliminate the infection.

yes this is what happen and cobys eyes kept closing but i would keep them open by calling his name i put a whole bumch of the nutrical in his month and yes it did help him but he was still weak i dont think i;ll give him anymore tonight because i gave him alot.. and the vet did say his blood sugar was high

I used Puppy Goat Milk from petsmart, already mixed. Please be very careful with the heat. Never leave your pup or your child in the car. ANYTHING can happen. Yorkies do not tolerate heat very well. Please be careful, I dont even leave my 15 yr old daughter in the car alone. Promise, I'm not being mean just caring.....Lissette

Oh ok..I am glad for that!! Please don't leave them in the car..it isn't safe you never know what will happen..If they dont want to go in the store just let them stand outside..

I hear too many horror stories on this subject. My dh even hates to leave me alone in the car and I am 27!

i dont think the breeder will help the fact this puppy came from a broker i didnt know
anything about this i just though i was getting a healty pet from a breeder but the help from on here i was told the companys a broker company.. and regards too this i really dont have direct contact with the breeder.. because the broker only deals direct contact with them but i will contact purebredbreeders.com about this matter

there nothing in my car the dog got intoo also he was in his crate at the time my cars new and clean i havent had it more then a month..

i found sweetend condensed milk in my shelve is this what your talking about or regular canned milk or goat milk?

Honestly Coby is so young he should be left at home. I wouldn't take Coby anywhere just bc I know what is out there to a un vaccanted pup Plus it is so warm outside..I think it would be best to leave him home.

No condensed milk......will make him sick. only goat and if you buy it in the store please dilute it. Do not take him out of your home until he is older. Please. He has had a hard life so far so please give him stability and dont take him out at all.
