Beat me! Tell me how WACK I am! PLEASE! I have a car load of other women and myself all ready to roll out of here tomorrow on a 'Thelma and Louise' Type vacation. Its me and 4 other girls. Well, it WAS me. But not anymore and now IM FREAKING! I cant go. I cant do this. I cant leave her. I left my girl one time (shes 2.5 yrs old) for a little 3 day cruise. I sobbed the entire time. Thankfully, my NOT going wouldnt change anything travel wise or make their travels suffer. It was all independent. But, I am letting my very good girl friends down. AFTER, all of us deciding: Yes... we can... and WILL leave our babies and do this! They were all going to board their baby. Their dog... I dont even think of them as a mere dog. Man, I need to get a grip. I have two grown sons that love my girl as if she were their biological sister. Luckily, mine would get to stay with them. They have a place together. And I know in my heart they would NEVER let anything happen to her. Awesome, no boarding! But Im suppose to be packin' and all Im doing is backing... Im backing out of probably the last chance I'll have to throw caution to the wind and run off! Ive never been able to do that but spent many a stop light fantasizing about it. As of this moment... NO WAY! I dont want any adventures or opportunities in the next 14 days except to remain with my Yorkie. And thats just not sane. I dont want to regret this. How do I tell them? Can you talk me into going? Trust me... my not going would be a sad thing. I feel so awful inside, great now the tears. I wish so badly none of this would have ever even been spoken of. Really Upset at Myself |

A Mom needs to go out and have fun too!! I say go for it.. Let your hair blow in the wind!!! |
Aww so sorry about your position... I myself do not leave my furbabies behind... I take them with me everywhere, they love the beach. But I do not have any children old enough to stay home with them. So why dont you ask your friends if you can take your baby along with you. And if that isnt a possiablity then I really think your sons would take extra good care of her=) They know how much you love her and there is phones you can call in and check on her everyday....every hour if need be. You really deserve a little vacation, everyone does. Also if there is any problems or you just cant stand it leave the vacation early... I am sure they will understand. |
I went to California last year to visit my sister - had to leave Bailey behind. Fortunately, hubby was here to take care of her. Yes, it was hard - but hubby never missed an opportunity to send me a pic of her on the phone. After a few days (yes, it took a few days) I began to relax because I knew she was just fine. Good luck and enjoy your trip! |
You should go. You are denying your sons time to bond and care for their baby sis. You are also denying yourself time to relax and recharge so that you can come back refreshed. It is in your whole family's best interest for you to take this vacation. Plus your friends are excited to spend the time with you, they need you to be there with them. Before you know it you will be back home again telling your baby all about your adventures! |
I think you should go your furbaby will be fine. I love my furbutts but we take a vacation every year in the fall. They build memories and we have a young daughter and want her to be able to see new and different places. |
You should really go. Not only for yourself, but for your friends as well. If you let them down, they may not include you in any more vacations or other get togethers. Let your sons send you daily pictures with updates. Have fun!! Now go PACK!!! :3plane::2plane: |
i know you wanna be with her, and i know if possible you would rather take her with you...but i think sometimes us mama's need a mommy's day off ya know, and if you trust your sons to care for her than i say GO FOR IT, get out and enjoy the freedom while you still can, there's nothing quite like a road trip with the gal pals so just go and have a blast and let the boys do the fussing over your poochie hope you do and have the time of your life |
You are right...you are insane!! Not really. For your sanity though, you need a break...time for just you, and golly, you have people who love your dogs too take care of them. Think of it as a long play date for your doggy children. They will get spoiled in a different way than you spoil them and I know you do, we all do, ...who couldn't spoil a Yorkie!!! Don't live the rest of your life saying I wish I had gone or I should have gone on that vacation with my friends. DO IT!!! Think of how GREAT the reunion will be when you get back!!!! Then you will really know what LOVE A YORKIE MEANS |
Its hard to leave them. Quote:
Go on your vacation and have a GOOD TIME. Your babies will be just fine. None of us like leaving our babies, but sometimes you have to. It is good that your sons can take care of them. I guess I am a whack job too because I get teary eyed just thinking about life without her. I take her every where that I can. But I guess that isnt good for her either because she is so spoiled she will not eat unless I am there with her. That is going to be a big problem for me in January because we are going on a two week cruise. Even though I have 4 kids 17-29, I wouldn't trust any of them with Ginger. But I will come up with something that we both can live with. But go on your vacation. Just accept the fact that this is one of the places they cant go like the grocery store. Donna |
I can totally relate to both sides of your dilema. I HATE leaving my girls, but thankfully, my daughter can stay here with them and I know they are fine with her. I still miss them, still worry about them, I call home to check on them and can't wait to get back. I don't think of my girls as "dogs" - in fact it is rare you will even hear me use that term when talking about them!!!! They are definitely my babies. You do need to take some time for yourself though. It sounds like this will be an awesome time for you and your friends. Since you have your sons to rely on and your know your baby will be in good hands, I would suck it up and go. You will miss your baby, you will still worry and you will look forward to coming back home ~ but go anyway!!!!!!!!! |
Go, go go. We all need a break sometimes. It will be good for all of you. I'm not much for leaving mine and when I'm scheduled at the hospital I can't wait to get home to them and YT. I'm sure your children will take better care of them then any kennel and they will be happy with their skin siblings. Go have a good time and send them a post card. They will glad to see you when you get home. |
yorkienurse, you should go! Having people you trust with your babies means your half way there. Your going to miss them like crazy but like someone said think of the reunion. Think of it as you are doing it for all of us who havn't found anyone to trust with our babies and would be afraid to go. Tell us all about it when you get back.;) |
Plus, if your sons are like mine, the babies get even more special attention because they know how devastated I would be if any thing happened to them under their care! They watch them even more closely than I do, so when I do have to leave them, I know they will be ok. Not as ok as when they are with me, but ok. |
Turn it around and think of it this way -- if your sons were still young and wanted to go to camp, on a field trip, church retreat, visit grandma, etc.... you would let them, wouldn't you? Now your little Yorkie wants a 3 day stay-over with your sons -- who you trust and know that they love her. Don't be mean, don't be selfish, let your baby go for a visit. :) And....since she is going for a visit, you need something to do to fill your time while you miss her. Why not go on a cruise with your friends? What better way to console yourself whle your baby (don't think you mentioned her name) is having a ball visiting the brother?!?!!!! Seriously -- it would probably be great for both of you! |
