Well, Alex fell again last night. This time it happened on his way UP the stairs. He's ok but I am so afraid he's really going to hurt himself soon. So, I said to heck with it and just ordered a ramp online. I don't have time to try to put something together myself or try to find someone local who might be able to build one for me. Alex needs one NOW. The one I ordered is similar to the pics TLC posted above, but it's not fully enclosed and it's lightweight so I can move it to change the sheets, clean, etc. I'm having them add the siderails to what you see in the pic. And, this site offers free shipping so it helped me save a little $$. I will also be ordering the small foam ones like TLC has to put in other areas of the house. I just hope they come soon before my baby gets hurt. Thank you for all your wonderful suggestions! I wanted to add that I've moved most of the steps so that he can't use them. I will be picking him up to help him get where he wants to go until these arrive. This is the one I ordered Doxie Dog Ramp -- Free Standing Open Sided Pet Ramp - Low prices, plus free shipping! |
Ramp That looks like a really nice ramp and should be safe with the side rails so Alex can't slip off the side if he stumbles. I think you made a great choice. Let us know how Alex likes it when you get it. Good luck. |

I don't know what you have in your area, or who you know, but here are some, usually, cheap/inexpensive suggestions: If you have lumber company near by, sometimes one of the guys will throw something together for you in their spare time out of spare lumber; also the same if you know a carpenter. Best I have found, is talk to the "shop" teacher at the local high school. They can usually find some "boy" to make one for you. You may have to cover it or something though. |
