Gosh, some of the posters to this thread really try to start something!
The OP was upset, been there, done that, we all probably have. Dee said nothing wrong, for heaven's sake, don't make it into something that's it's not. So much drama, then the thread goes back & forth forever. Give it a rest and try to help the OP.
As for the OP, I have a 1 /12 yr old that I raised from 10 weeks. Scooter was neutered @ 6 months. He did not start this right away after being neutered and he was totally house trained. He peed on my feet, my DH's lap (several times) peed on the head of the older dog, Harley, peed on Rita the first day she arrived, peed on a new toy. He did this even after coming right in from peeing outside. I don't think your baby is doing it because of the neutering. I believe he is "marking" you, and showing dominance as the Alpha Dog. Scooter also has peed on each of the new puppies(2) that I got a week ago. When any of the other four dogs go pee outside, Scooter goes right over and marks where they peed. He doesn't peed on me or DH anymore, and only did it to each of the dogs once. In Scooter's mind, everyone & everything is HIS. When your baby does this, think of it this way... YOU HAVE BEEN CLAIMED BY HIM! Even though it's gross to us, it is their way of saying, I want you as mine. He must think an awful lot of you Rest assured that once he feels he has make his point and mark, he will stop.

woohoo.. they are stubborn little guys! I have 2 males. They turned 4 years old yesterday! One of them still pees on me occasionally. Just about a month ago, I had a bunch of people standing around me and everyone was talking and I felt something warm and wet on my feet, looked down and he was peeing on me. Gross? yes!!!! but in his doggy way, he was letting all those people know that I AM HIS!!! LOL I said "Fletcher! NO!" and he stopped immediately. What needs to happen is that he needs to know that HE IS MINE.. I am NOT HIS. This is a matter of training. It will take more than a few days for sure, but I am glad to hear you are going to work with him and keep him! So many displaced animals these days I hate to hear of one being rehomed!

Hey there jtamaura,
sounds like you and I are on the same boat. A month ago I got a new boy too, and a few days later had him neutered also. And guess what? Yup he pees on me too!!! He doesn't come and mark me, but if I go pick him up I get a *squirt* right in the face. Lovely isn't it? I think he pees out of excitement and to show the other dogs (3 other ones that are not mine) that I am his and each of them has their own mommy (my roomies). I still have a lot to work on, but I think if we both have patients and love for our little ones, we'll fix this. I already have some progress!! He doesn't pee when I go stroke him anymore, but he does when I walk through the door when coming home from work or when I pick him up. Slowly but surely I think this issue will be resolved!
I find it comforting to know that someone somewhere in the yorkie world is going through the same thing I am.
Good luck and keep us updated!!! (we're a very nosey bunch!! )

I would like to add that I read one of Dees Post. Do you know she has taken back some of the dogs she sold because of different circumstances with the owners? Way to go Dee. I wish more breeders would be just like you, we wouldn't have so many in shelters...

Default Hugs to Coach

I want to send big hugs to Coach! Poor lil guy seems to be having a hard time.

Having read you previous thread, here is what I've learned about Coach. Last Wed. 8/26, you rescued this 3 yr. old Biewer as his owner was taking him to the pound. You talked to his neighbors who said after the owners had separated, the man didn't take care of him and let him roam around. You fell in love with him, as did your family, called him your angel, and got tons of insite from other Biewer owners about their wonderful personalities and adaptability.

You had him groomed, took him for a vet checkup, then Sat. took him to be neutered & left him there 2 days, brought him home Monday, and he started the peeing problem. All this, and he'd only been in your home 4 nights, and by Tues. 9/1 you say he's up for adoption. Whew, glad you have re-thought that one.

I hope you are slowing down in your judgment of Coach, and are focusing on understanding and helping him with what is probably a temporary problem (peeing). He must be adoring you.... you are probably the best thing that has happened in his life in a long time. It's going to take time to figure out if he's marking you, or peeing from over-excitement, having a hormonal adjustment, surgical reaction, or being a little upset that you took him to the vet and hurt his manhood.

You have gotten a lot of good advice here and seem to welcome it.... that's good. You can fix this and have an awesome pet for life.

Wishing you all the best, and sending a HUG to Coach!

Too funny!
I hope you hang in with this little guy. You can get lots of great tips on YT about training.
He has been through a lot in a short period of time. Be patient and you will reap the rewards!

Default Coach is up for adoption

I hope you're just kidding about rehoming him. They're so smart. He probably knows who took away his manhood. Try to work with him. You haven't givenhim enough time.

Coach is not doing better at all but everyone in the family is working with my angel and trying to make his mlife and ours better. We still love him and will forever. I will never even think about giving up on him again.

I've never had this problem with a male in the house. I've been lucky. I've seen others post on here that, I think resorted to belly bands. Perhaps that would help? They really do mark their favorite and he really has chosen you, and now apparently all your belongings and family..lol, okay not funny... it is just unfortunate that it appears it is going to be difficult to break him. I believe it can be done, just will take awhile and maybe the belly band will help extend your patience.

Since it would no longer be used to prevent studding you could just call it his cumberbund.

How are you training him? To pee outside or on pads?? It sounds like to me like you just need to watch him more.. Peanut still poops in corners when I am not watching him...It's hard but watch him like a HAWK and he will get better!!

Do you crate him at all?? When you are not home does he have full run of the house?

Default ?Crating

How about going back to basics and crate-training him. I know a lot of people don't like that idea but it does work. Just a thought. Do belly bands work? I have never tried them.
So glad that you are sticking this out.

I would def. go back to basics with him. Either crate training or get a x-pen to put up for him to be in when someone cannot watch him very close. Get him on a schedule for potty breaks, and stick to it. Praise him for good behavior, and forgive him for bad. I am
sure after all the changes he has gone through in such a short period of time he is very confused right now. Hang in there, it will get better.

I wish I did have advice, luckily I haven't had to deal with this. Only time will tell if this might have been a long standing habit, and perhaps why the previous owner was keeping him outside. All I can say is I commend you for trying to work it out, and I wish you all the best! Hang in there, it's only been a week.

I would suggest belly bands also. It can be used one of two ways:
-Used as a quick fix. Put it on your boy and no matter how hard he tries nothing will be marked with his scent because everything is trapped on the belly band. Downside, it's up to you to keep him clean, (change the pad on the belly band, keep the belly band from smelling to discourage the marking, etc) and it's just a band aid.

-OR-

-Used in combination with training to eventually not need the belly band anymore. What I did is use a correction (double clap followed by a firm no) to discourage his leg lifting inside the house. When using the correction with the belly band makes things less stressful for you and for your pup. No matter how quick you and how vigilant you are they can still shoot out a drop of pee that will later intice them to keep marking. It's worked with my boy, he doesn't dare try to mark inside the house anymore.
He does have an excited pee reaction though, and even that is getting better. He sees me come home from work, the grocery store, or where ever that he couldn't come with me and he pees. He doesn't do it intentionally, he's just really emotional and excited and well...
Before I would try to correct him or get upset myself about always having to clean up pee. Which I know he felt and that just made things worse. It ended up being a vicious cycle of bad emotions. So now I put a belly band on him. I don't see the pee, I don't get upset and neither does he. He's still relatively new to my home, I've had him a little over a month. Combine a new home, new people, and the neuter (which I've been told can cause set backs in training) can be the root of your problem. I've seen progress and Kaji is less emotional about me leaving. He's gone from full on pee in his belly band to a squirt. I think it's progress and I hope eventually he won't have a need for belly bands at all.
Sorry for a long post, but I wanted to make sure I explained myself as best as I could.
