| I love my yorkie's hair. It's the shiniest, most beautiful silver, that I never get tired of looking at. Unfortunately in winter (and I'm talking about Canadian winters!) she has to wear sweaters to keep warm, but that makes her beautiful hair all matty and horrible underneath. They are not easy to comb out , and I eventually end up shaving off all her (body) hair after a couple of weeks of wearing outfits. Is there any way I could avoid the knots while putting outfits on her? |

| I was told that silk helps prevent matting (or at least doesn't cause the hair to mat so badly). So, I ordered a couple of hoodies and some jammies from Des at www.mygofetch.com and it really made a difference. The only matting was on the arms & legs where the bands are. I also had a couple of wonderful YT members make some silk undershirts to put on underneath the outfits that don't have a silk lining. I even have an order in for silk lined belly bands! I'd love to see if others have different suggestions. I hate having this problem.

| Yes..I have the same problem. Seems no matter what you do, once they wear clothes(sweaters) it'll matt. I just try to brush/comb their hair before & then after. Unfortunately, this doesn't prevent but it does help. I'll wait to see what others suggest.

| Ugh, I am not looking forward to this either. Missy NEVER mats, unless she wears clothes, and winter's coming! She's already started wearing tshirts again.

| When Fido had long coat he matted like crazy when i had him in clothes. I shaved him down and now he doesnt get any matts of the clothes, but im letting him grow long fur again and he is already starting to get mats on his belly and under hands. I've learned one thing now, that is to not have him in clothes with no silk in outside, he gets mats in clothes when he's walking or running much but not inside when he's just calm It is good to have a thin silk t-shirt under the clothes so they dont mat as much. And some clothes have silk inside so they dont mat much

| Ever since I switched to the minksheen shampoo and use my biolage hydrating conditioner, I have not had the matting problem. The babies hair is soft shiny, smells very nice and does not matt under clothes. A bottle of minksheen has lasted me almost a year, I ordered it off of petedge.com. I buy Biolage at my salon. It's very gentle. I still use baby shampoo around their eyes. Hope this helps!
