Minksheen!?! So today I tried out Minksheen on the pups. I love the way itmade the pups coat look. Later I walk in the house from grocery shopping and smell like a weird (what I thought was mold) smell. I am smelling around and it was in the xpen! I thought they had gotten into something so I made Jer smell and we figured it was their coats. It almost smells like the tick and flea stuff... So my question is... Is this shampoo at all harmful? I mean I guess I know that people on YT wouldn't use it if it was... I am just double checking. :) I read the contents and it has citronella, eucalyptus, cedar oils. It is probably just my nose being sensitive and use to our old baby powder shampoo and conditioner... It just took me back. Please make me feel better cause most things that smell this strong are usually harmful. |
Never.... I have never heard of it...so I never have used it. However the stuff that you said are in it are ok......so you might just have a strong nose.... |
There is a lot of people that use it. I have a sample bottle I have been trying. I guess that stuff is the stuff that keeps the bugs away. I don't think it would be dangerous though. |
I have a gallon setting collecting dust that i bought before trying it, we bathed 2 dogs in it & it matted their coats so bad that both had to be cut down, we could not get them out. it was very sickening |
I use Minksheen on my 2 and I really like it. The smell is a bit strong at first, but I actually like the smell. It makes mine really silky and soft. But, definitely shop around until you find one you love. I also like biogroom protein-lanolin shampoo and Chris Christianson Day to Day shampoo and conditioner and his Ice on Ice detangling spray. |
I liked how Minksheen left their coats, but I too, couldn't get past the smell. :( I've tried a half dozen different shampoo's and the one that seems to work the best and has a pleasant aroma is Biogroom. I use the Fluffy Puppy. Besides liking to say the name  I like that it's no tears. DH sometimes isn't the most careful when giving baths, so I like that it won't burn their eyes if a little gets into them. |
I use minksheen sometimes as it makes my cottony coated ones look nice but that smell is hard to take. My friend has ferretts and it smell similar to them, sort of a musky shunk lite smell. |
We use minksheen and like it. It reminds me of the Avon - Skin So Soft. That's what I think it smells like. The smell seems to die down in a day or so and Ginger's coat is really soft. I will continue to use it until it's gone. I may try another kind after that but I wouldn't say I would never buy it again. I would. :animal-pa |
:)minksheen is the best! i used it yesterday on Fiona as well as my boyfriend's dog, Honey, whom is a lab/pit mix, and she felt great as well! it smells so good, and it's great too! |
I love the way Minksheen makes my dogs feel, but I use Pet Silk conditioner too (favorite scent is Rainforest) to make them smell oh so wonderful! Minksheen is widely discussed in the Grooming Forum. Many people love it for cottony coats, and it is perfect for my Morkies, though can seem a little oily for my Yorkie with a thinner silky coat. |
I like Minksheen, and I must be a weirdo because I also like the smell of it. |
I use minksheen on all my dogs and love it. Their hair is so soft and shines like silk. |
I use Minksheen, and I really like the smell. To me, it's fresh and clean. |
I use Minksheen and I like the smell. It is really strong when you first bathe them but the smell fades away in a few days |
It does have a very strong smell, but if you give the bottle a good shake right before using it, that tends to a help a bit. I also found that as I got half way through the bottle, the smell doesn't seem as strong (linger as long) as it used to. |
