Clipper question for Groomers Hi everyone, I basicly have a question about clippers. I just want to buy the best of the best quality out there. I will groom my yorkie and my moms right know and later on in a few years when i move back to my home town i was thinking about going to a grooming academy. Well if everything works out i would like to buy top of the line clippers and stuff instead of buying some right know and then having to buy more expensive one later one because they won't last or are not the very best. Any feedback would be apreciated :):):) |
Bump! I'm curious to see the answer! |
Thanks :) Bump |
I have no idea..I dont clip..but I did find this for you all :D Hope it helps http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...favorites.html |
Thanks, it did help but want even more feedback . Bump again?? |
I am pretty sure mine is an Andis. It is not top of the line, but still cost me $100. Do not get a clipper made for human hair, make sure it is for pets. They are different. I have been happy with mine, and have had it for more than five years. (I have a poodle so I use the clipper quite a bit) |
Thanks i have heard good things about that brand. Do your get hot quickly though?? |

I'm a groomer and i use a 2 speed andis. works great. oh and i agree about buying two blades so you can change them when they get hot. |
Yes it does seem to get hot quickly, I have not used another brand though so I have no comparison. I switch blades out and use cool lube a lot. Mine is not the two speed. On/Off only. I did just barely pick up one of those cordless tiny ones for feet and ear touch ups, I am hoping it lasts! |

this one groomer i work with who's been grooming for 35 years swears by the laube clipper. she says its more powerful then the andis. she can get thru a matted dog with a 4 blade while i'd have to use a 7 with an andis. but she said it does get hot so she has to change blades more frequently. |
I've been grooming for 32 or so years and the majority of those years I used the osters. That said, they run very hot, blow air and hair in your face and jam frequently. Someone told me about the Andis AGC 2 speed, love em! I use them daily and never had a problem with them. I do have to use two sets of blades, as soon as one gets hot I change it out for another and put the hot one on the marble window sill to cool. If you're planning on going to grooming school I would suggest the Andis. Good luck and remember, practice makes perfect. |
Thanks for al the help everyone :) |
