I would have to say the AGP super 2 speed is the best of the three, but since I only groom poodles and small dogs I have yet to use the high speed. I did once, but my blade got too hot too fast, so I stick with the slower speed. I also wanted to say, I received a grooming supplies catalog and noticed Oster (my favorite brand since it is made in the US), has a newer 2 speeds with the same type motor as the Andis. I would think this would improve the heat of the housing (my hand was burned all the time), and the venting on the Oster that caused the hair to blow in your face is gone. There are several grooming sites out there that have forums about clippers. When my osters finally gave up the ghost, that is where I got my information and then I talked to a mutual grooming friend and she recommended the Andis because of the motor. Between the Andis AGC super 2 speed and the newer Oster 2 speed with the same type motor I would chose the Oster now. (I just got the catalog with the newer oster, they didn't have them when I made my earlier post). |
These are the clippers at petedge. I did not know oster made the Power Pro till I got my catalog. They didn't have them when I needed new clippers so I bought the Andis. PetEdge: Oster PowerPro Ultra Corded Clipper Here are the Andis I have, I am not unhappy with them, but I am partial to Oster. http://grooming.petedge.com/Andis-AG...ategoryId=1039 |

PetEdge: Oster PowerMax 2-Speed Clipper Let us know what you choose and how they work! |
I have a bunch of clippers (I LOVE grooming tools!!!)...as a porfessional groomer I absolutely love my Andis Super AGC 2 Speeds, they are literally my littler work horses and have survived many a fal and break and are eay to repair. I also have the Andis Power groom which are lighter but for supremely matted coats I usually turn to the Super AGC 2 Speed. I also got annoyed because the battery pack and cord pack don't like to stay put, it falls out too easily. So that turned me off. My other groomer swears by her Ultra Edge 2 Speed by Andis (which has the same product specs as the Andis Super AGC 2 Speed). I have a few Golden 2 Speed Osters and dislike them and never use them and they are our 'emergency incase everything else breaks on us' clippers. My new 'baby' is my Laube Ivac....I got them for around $450 and I am so deeply in love with them and really wondered how I groomed with them before, but you need a shop vac with them and it is a whole new learning curve using that baby...but it bites for mats. But on yorkie coats anything longer then a #4f...with Geib metal combs it looks SOOOO good!! As for blades, don't cheap out. I love Butterbut blades by Geib, so worth the money!! |
K2 is the person to take advice from! Like I stated, I only groom poodles and small type dogs, so I don't get many matted dogs. I haven't worked outside my home for over 15 years, and that long ago only the A5 were available. I am out of the loop as it were. She would be the person to chat with about clippers for a future grooming job!:D |
