Pooping inside So Joey and Tank (but mostly Joey) for some reason still poop in my house. They won't pee inside, though. They know better than to poop inside, and they come tell on themselves when they do it. I will take them outside for a good 10 to 15 mins (or more, depending on the day), and they won't poop. I will bring them inside and continue with my day, and sometimes just a couple minutes after coming inside, one of them will poop! This is extremely frustrating, and kinda disgusting. The dogs are praised and sometimes given treats for going potty outside, and they go into the kennel for a timeout whenever they go inside. The thing that really gets me is that they NEVER pee inside, just poop. Please give me some insight as to why my furbabies are doing this! ps - I do take them out multiple times a day, as well as whenever they go to the door. we don't have a yard, so i do have to be with them. also, Joey is 15 months old, and Tank is 9 months old. |
When you bring them in from a pee, they forgot they had to poo and it just comes on. Watch them when they come back in, be be ready to go right back out, or leave them out longer till they poo, too. |
I will give it a try! Thank you :) |
If this continues on, you might want to train them on the pee pads. That's so much better than your house and I just saw some kind of spray that you put on the pee pads that trains them to go on them. I was thinking about doing this for the winter. |
Try to block them getting to the place where they poop..Peanut is trained on pee pads, but he does have accidents! I noticed a poop farm under my bed!! So dh blocked it so he cant go under there anymore..then I notcied he liked to poop in this corner so I put his blanket there and made him a little bed with his toys..so far so good!!! Get creative! |

potty problems Casanova does the same thing, sometimes we go out for a good 20-30 mins, he potty's but no #2; but within minutes of comming inside the house he does his #2. he was really good about only going on paper at first but since we have been trying to train him to go only out side this is his new habit of pottying out side & pooping inside. we tried this spray that was supposed to keep him from doing his business on the carpet but it dosnt stop him. we also have tried the stuff you spray on the paper to make him go, i think it did the opposite when we sprayed it he was more hesitant to go on the paper & now he wont go on paper, he goes out side or on the carpet! but we have only had him 3 weeks now so hopefully things will start to sink in with our persistant training. good luck with yours! |
If you know it's their time to poo and they don't when you go outside with them you could put them back in their crate and try again a bit later. |
Molly does the same thing. Only she is trained for pee pad. But she likes a rug in my bathroom. An when i see it an i say bad dog she runs to her pee pad an sit there an if to say oh gosh i was bad again. I just remove the rug an then she will find another rug so i`m pretty throw rug rugless. It is helping but she just started to do this. Shes a year an half old. I think she got lazy . |
My Teddy pees outside all the time but he has only taken a poop outside one time. He is pee pad trained and does very well. I only find poop on the pads so that makes me happy!! Maybe you could leave them out longer or just train them for being inside as well. |
I have the same problem. It drives me crazy. They will go out to pee most of the time ( my boys wear belly bands) but no sooner I bring them in the poop. What absolutly aggravates me is that they have a dog door that lets them outside to a well protected covered 12x12 pen. There really is no excuse.. My little girl also likes the bathroom rug. Any ideas how to make the outside pen more appealing to them then the inside of my house? Picking up poop inside the house is really getting old. Oh also I do feel 2x per day and this saying of them going soon after they eat does not always seem to work cause I am picking up poop several times a day. |
