l'd picked Rockie up immediately. I was at a popular nice beach here in southern calif; as l was walking and carrying Rockie a man approached with his dog, not a very big dog at all. The man said my dog wants to play with your dog. Well before he could react his dog lunged up toward Rockies face growling l immediately snatched Rockie backward. l was shocked oringinaly, then really mad. Of course, he was very apologetic but the dog could have done some damage if not for my reaction. Accidents do happen!. |
Pick Him Up!!! And every single time!!!...There's plenty of time to socialize in a safe environment w/dogs you know...Also carry Pepper Spray, in the event you need to use it...You can get it at most Auto Part Stores...I get mine @ O'reillys...Also, I use a velcro mesh harness than I can just raise up Apple w/o having to even bend down, in an emergency... |
Hi all. and thanks for the replies..yes I do think picking up Dustie is best for now...but why do so many people see an open space and immediately let their dogs off a leash to run off...They can't be in control of their pets at a distance and most dogs are friendly I expect..but just get too excited for a little pup...Even another yorkie came bounding over on the beach..I thought o.k. a Yorkie..he will be o.k. with mine..but he really became too much and started snapping...so again I picked him up...The owner saw his dog but never called him back...It happens too often here in the U.K. We have numerous incidents with dogs and children... It is a shame that a few spoil the pleasure of walking our pets and make me ever fearful..even in our local parks. Chrisann x |
I have actually threatened to kick 2 big dogs who were unleashed and circling Molly. I shouted 'get them away now or i will kick them!' The owner quickly put them on leads and muttered somthing rude. I really wish people didnt act so irresponsibly, but sadly they do. You just cant take the chance with small dogs. I have a friend who had a small yorkie who died when a big unleashed german shepherd almost bit her head off. It happened in seconds. My friend didnt have the time to pick her little one up. |
