I am sympathetic to fear, because it is irrational. I was bitten on the ankle by a small dog when I was a kid (it was one of those little dogs who hates all kids. It came running through a crowd of guests at a party to bite me). I was scared of little dogs for a long time after that.

I usually have to opposite problem, people are constantly loving up on Thor, when I want him to pay attention to me on walks! I have learned that most cabs won't pick me up when I have him with me, though. I stand in front of him before I get in the door. Sometimes they are pretty rude about it, and sometimes they are thrilled and tell me all about their dogs. He is always on my lap, no part of his body touches their car.

Yeah, that is true... I definitely have some irrational fears. I guess it's just hard for me to understand the dog thing because I have had dogs all my life.

Oh Noes! :eek: "The Anti Dog People" I really wouldn't pay them no mind. They don't know that having a dog is wonderful and adds years to your life. That's why they are miserable and live very short lives.

Now when I am out and see some one with a dog that i think is adorable...I do my Oooo"s and Ahhhh's but I never approach them. I found that some dog people are not People people. LOL Then some people are like...you want to pet him? Then I cant resist!:p

I can respect their fear, I fear snakes.
But if I was in a snake friendly hotel and he was on a lease in his owners arms minding his own business I’d like to think I would respect the person and their pet. Live and let live.

Honestly when I wrote this post I didn’t think about their fear it was only their rudeness….. But I will keep that in mind in the future.

We should have a summit for these poor deprived people!!!!!

You know, now that you say this, I am thinking. I too have a fear of snakes and spiders and (yes it is silly) snails. If someone were out and about with a big snake on him or worse, a couple of snails, I would not be able to keep the horror off my face! I guess I will have to be nicer.

I say it is their loss!! I was working a Tag Day in front of the grocery store for the shelter I volunteer for and this man came up to me and said what are collecting for (even though I had a big red vest that said Save A Pet on it) I said for dogs and cats at the no kill shelter, he says I hate animals! I couldn't say much because I was representing the shelter but said oh don't hate them they are wonderful. He gave me a dollar anyway and says again I hate animals and they all belong outside. I was so shocked that people would come up and say that, just keep that to yourself!!

OMG I thought I was the only one! I don't mind snakes or spiders, but if I see a snail I FREAK OUT!!! Something about gross slimy things, I don't know.

Ha ha. What if people were out walking their giant bugs? I certainly wouldn't like that. Very true, some dog people are not people people. ;)

I do think anti-dog people are missing out. I don't get anti-cat people either. Now I do HATE pigeons, but that's because I got crapped on three times in one year, and I feel entitled.

See, pigeons don't bother me at all. I guess the world needs all types, but dogs to me seem so basic. And snails are the worst. I get the shivers just thinking about them!

No one has actually been disgusted by Ella yet! One man did say that she was very ugly and stuff (ugh dont get me started lol) but no one has acted afraid of her yet! *knocks on wood!*

I'm not a big cat person because I am allergic to them. I guess that's another understandable reason why someone would move away from a dog. However, if someone had a cat in an elevator, I would be polite about it because all animals are special.

Allergic people can hate cats. :) A lot of people just think they are sneaky and aloof, completely overlooking the fact that they are furry and adorable.
