| need advice at the beach Hi all, We are at out annual vacation out on the bay. 40 acres of beach front paradise. This is the first time that Snickers has had all of this freedom, and to see him running down the beach full of joy is great. So whats wrong? FLEAS!! Within hours of being here both my boxer and Snickers were covered in them. They are both on Frontline Plus. We have been here since Saturday are here till the end of the week. I am afraid to go home, thinking that I am going to take all of these fleas with me. I ran out to the store today and got some borax powder and put it every where. I give them a dawn soap bath, but within hours the fleas are back, not only are they back but the dogs are also covered in flea dirt. I thought about giving them a flea bath before we get in the car to leave, but not sure about them having frontline and flea bath. I doesn't seem to bother them they are having a great time, but I am spending my family vacation obsessing and picking fleas off of the dogs. HELP!! Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance. Ali BTW we are in St. Marys County MD right now.

| ick. I would be obsessing too! I have read stories here lately about dogs having really severe reactions to flea products. I don't know what you should do, just be careful. If you could find a natural way to deal with the fleas, that would be wonderful. I hear that fleas are repelled by the scent of lavender. Hopefully someone will be able to post an answer for you soon. I will call a yorkie buddy for you and see if she knows. Good luck. |

| One time my cat got fleas really bad and the vet gave her a pill that killed them all within hours of taking it. It was a long time ago, I wish I could remember the name of it. I know that it is for dogs too. That might be a solution to your problem when it's time to go home, but I don't think it would help you during your stay. I'm sorry your not enjoying your vacation! At least your dogs are having fun |

| im not exactly sure BUT I heard that you can use DAWN liquid dish soap and it kills the fleas really good. plus im assuming it wont interfere with the Frontline. Just make sure you use the name brand stuff. no cheap substitutes. and let it soak in for a minute like wash your dog really well. My mom swears by it with her cats. |

| We also took both of our pups to the beach, one of them did not want to run on the beach and play but, the other one let us sit him down for only a few minutes. Well the next day I was petting him and I statred to rub his neck and OMG there were so many bumps on his neck I didn't know what the heck it was. So the vet told us it was sand fleas, Took about 2 weeks to get rid of them. Luckily the other one didn't get them, nor did we find any in the house. The vet did give us a antibiotic also. Needless to say my pups wont be beach bums.LOL |

| Sorry to hear about your terrible experience. We were at the river last month and Rockie did not want to walk in the sand. After hearing all this about the sand fleas, I'm glad he didn't. If bath and give them the fleas meds and keep them out of the sand maybe you can keep the fleas off.
