| Today i finally was able to bring beaker into the vet to see what all this coughing was about... the coughing that continued after his kennel cough was gone.... i was really thinking that is was a collasped treache with all the coughing he was doing... its really bad at night..... and he has spells every day..... he had xrays done, and what a reliefe that is what not.... the vet said that he had some bronchitis and gave me a prescription and also told to go and buy childerens robatonson DM (sp) and to make sure it was DM...... this would help the cough at night.... although i would rather nothing be wrong at all this is better then somthing worse....... i hope this prescription helps and beaker is able to get rid of this cough that keeps me. hubby and him up most of the night.... oh also i had mentioned to the vet on how beaker has been getting really dry parts on his skin... and then is flakes... it feels and look very yucky.... she gave me a sample of a medicated shampoo to try..... and if it works then i can get more and pay much more then wanting to......... does any one other have a yorkie that has sensitive skin and knows what i can use to help beakers skin.... the vet told me i shouldnt was him more the every 3 to 4 weeks..... i thought giving him a bath about every 10 days was ok.... does any one have any input on that....i do bring him to get groomed every 4 weeks but do like to keep him clean in between cause i find his hair on his head to get kinda greasy a couple of days after being cleaned..... is this normal.....???? oh yes and one more thing... i kept thinking beaker was still under 2 lbs.... but hes right at 2 lbs now... that is great... was hoping he would gain some more weight, seince when i got him he was so tiny and sickly looking... and now look wonderfull.... what a difference weight can make....

| Good deal on Beaker Boy's weight gain, that definitely means he is getting better. Have you thought of maybe putting a humidifier in the room at night where Beaker sleeps? During winter times, atleast here in AR the air in the house is so darn dry. We use one and it really helps add moisture to the air. We don't feel like we wake up with that dry cotton mouth feeling anymore...or coughing We used it also with a pup we had a few years ago (returned it to the breeder) was congestion and such. We added Vicks to the water and it helped tremendously. Regarding the bathing? Schatzie doesn't have any skin problems but she is bathed every 3 days. Her hair seems almost human like and she looks rather gross if I don't bathe her that often. That is even with daily brushings, etc. Gosh, If I had to wait 3-4 weeks to bathe her i don't think Id be able to recognize her. But your vet might be telling you that because of Beaker's sensitive skin.I hope Beaker's cough goes away soon and continue's getting better. Thanks for giving us an update on him.
