| Bringing a new addition to the family Hi. I have a rescue Yorkie (Cody) who is six. We have had him for 7 months. He is completely housebroken and has the run of the house now. I want to get a girl Yorkie puppy now. My question is this. I would need to confine the puppy to the bathroom with baby gate, her crate, etc. How will this work out with Cody having the run of the house. I don't think it would be fair to him to confine him. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any help/advice would be appreciated. |

| My Harley was an only dog for 8 yrs when we got Scooter as a puppy. Scooter was confined to his crate when we weren't home or at night while sleeping until he was totally housebroken (@ a year) Harley still had his free run of the house during this time. Now they both have free run and the third one (Rita) is confined until she's completely trustworthy. The two new ones coming will also be confined until housebroken. Don't take Cody's freedom away, he earned it! They can still be "playmates" when you're around to supervise.

| Sasha was almost 3 when I bought my second yorkie. They're both boys and we haven't really had too many issues. I keep the puppy gated in the kitchen during the day and Sasha is able to run free. Normally the puppy just goes and gets in his bed and is fine. Now the first few weeks there was crying and barking from the puppy when I put him in the kitchen but everything is good now. As far as housebreaking goes it has been hard with the puppy but he's almost trained now (6 months later). Even when the puppy had an accident it had no effect on Sasha. He still knows that he has to go outside and has not had a single accident since the puppy has been with us. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Each time I brought a new one home they were crated in the same room as my others who had free run of the back half of my house. It worked out fine. I think it was comforting to the new baby to be in the same room with the others.
