| newbie introduction Here goes. I have been lurking for sometime and trying to learn. I am the new mommy of two sisters. They just turned 3mths, and are each just over 1lb. Baby is on the left and is furry with the teddy bear face and diva, "I can pee where I want because I'm cute" personality. Bug is on the right, sparse of hair, spindly of leg and "I pee where I should because I'm an obedient love-bug" personality. Bear the 80lb rescue mutt is scared of them and stays on the couch where he can't harm them when they are out and about. Baxter the 10lb maltipoo freebie doesn't much care for them yet, so he too stays up on the couch with Bear. Those two are like Lennie and George in Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men". But I digress...anyway, we're into socialization, housetraining, teething and all that stuff..I've never had puppies before, my others were grown upon arrival. I face some challenges since I work 12hr shifts and so will be on here frequently scanning for information. You seem to be a great group of very knowledgeable people. Thanks for a great site!

| newbie in training yep 12hr shifts does make it challenging. luckily that means I work rotating 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 3 off, etc... so I have stretches home and dh is disabled so home 24/7 and able to contribute. Actually, that is what got us started on dogs. Long story, I won't bore you with right now..LOL I've done the hypoglycemic scare with bug, locked neck and everything..she darn near died.. that was the first week (a month ago).. she recovered beautifully but, I learned that when they are tiny, sometimes you DO wake a sleeping puppy!!! I free feed due to their small weight, and so far they leave lovely little tootsie rolls. Bug has very good manners and most always goes where she should and knows the reward system. Baby refuses to cooperate, she is very very stubborn. The differences in their personalities is astounding. Because they are so small they were late starting their shots and so won't get their last one for another couple of weeks. I won't let them touch the outside grass until then, or be around other dogs or many people and so can hardly wait. I'm a bit paranoid about exposure to so many things. Maybe it was nearly losing Bug at the get go that spooked me....I'm sure I'll relax eventually. They have a pretty large xpen with bed at one end, pee pad at the other and food and play area in between. They have play time outside the pen when time allows and a designated pee pad that they can go to when they are out. Bug knows where it is and she goes right to it, uses it and immediately gets a cheerio. Baby doesn't care and has been known to even crap in the play area in the xpen. She is heftier than Bug and likes to bully here when she feels that she is not getting as much attention. She is going to be me problem child, no doubt. She is so fluffy I've had to trim her hiney to keep off the dingleberries and I checked to see if a 666 birthmark was anywhere around there. Sorry this was so long.
