Am I the only one That's looked through some of the clothing sites and have been in shock at the prices of the clothes for our babies. I saw dresses for $70. I wouldn't spend that much on a dress for myself. Plus the shipping is so high. I finally found something I could afford and the shipping was one dollar less then the item and it was just a dress. I just think it's crazy, because I sew myself and know it doesn't cost that much to make those things. To our members here who have sites I'm not trying to offend you, and actually your things were a lot more reasonable then most of the sites I looked at. I'm just super depressed right now, and was trying to cheer myself up by looking for some things for Skippy & Gwen, but I sure wasn't cheered up. Maybe I'm just nuts. |
I just ordered from Rena at barkingdoclothing and her prices are reasonable! |
You're not nuts. You're right. Maybe it's inflation! :D Seriously, it's good that you sew, but you probably have the same problem as many of us and that is the time element! Cheer up if you can. :) Can you post some pics and update us on how your babies are doing. How about Skippy? I was wondering about Skippy the other day. |
NO it's not just you! I too have had the  ... feeling when I went online shopping for Bailey. I already spen more on his hair produsts..with the gooming appt's and the CC products,,, I'd be TOTALLY broke it I bought him all the clothes I want too. :( ... Gotta restrain. |

You are not nuts, Some people are asking way too much for their doggy clothes. The most I have paid for any of Gus's clothing is $25 for a sweater that I just had to have. But then found something like it a few monthes later for $11.00. And it was the same thing but a different color! I do understand for those people who put alot of time into their clothing, but come on $50 + for a dog (small and tiny dogs I might add) clothing is just crazy! And on top they charge you for shipping,,,,,,, The way I look at it is,,,,,,, if people are willing to pay then why not, more power to them. But for poeple like myself,,,, I will wiat till they are having a BIG sale or search for the samething much cheaper elsewhere. 9 out of 10 times I will find the same thing for much less somewhere else . The extra time it takes to find what I want for the price I am willing to pay is so worth it! |
I know!!! Some of the sites I've looked at are absolutely ridiculous. Luckily though I have seen a lot of sites that have reasonable prices. I bought a faux suede coat for $12 and have seen different shirts/sweaters for around $10. |

You can find some reasonable stuff on ebay,, and on www.purecountry.net |
Your not alone!! I just can't bring myself to pay that much clothes that are that small!! i mean come on.... |
I know from personal experience that www.petedge.com has wonderful prices and good quality stuff. I just got a ton of winter stuff for Coco for under $40 shipping included. I know that Brooke www.imapreciouspup.com has great sales and I think has the cutest girl dresses. |
I ordered Ramsey 2 hooded shirts for 16.00 and free shipping. Can't beat that price. One shirt says " I'm so excited I could Pee!" I thought that was too cute... |
Yea, they sure do cost a lot, but I'm kind of bad, when I see some thing cute I just have to have it for Princess. I'm looking for a dress now, Can't find the right one, but I'm sure I will. I'm getting married, or should I say remarried (lucky guy) in March. It will be our 25 wedding anniversary, Princess has to be there, so she needs the perfect dress! My husband said the ones she has are fine, well as if he knows the perfect dress! I'm sure I'll find one (or two) soon. Good luck with finding site's Please post some if you find good ones! Have a great day! Gina & Princess  |
I know exactly what everyone is talking about. I've been through probably 50 or more websites and most are too expensive. I own my website and I sew a lot of the stuff on there. I could not charge $50 $60 or $70 for a small dress or t-shirts. When I see shipping of $12 for 1 dog shirt I ask why??? I do know that with a lot of the very big companies , they don't have time to calculate every customer's shipping and they just use a flat rate. I can work with people when it comes to shipping. A lot of the clothes I get are not straight from the manufacturer. I get it from a distributor. I wish I had a bank account in China where most of this stuff is made! The stuff is honestly super cheap if you get it directly from manufacture. Usually you have to be a distributor and have accounts to be able to do that. You would be shocked . When you go to Walmart and buy a $7.99 shirt. That shirt was probably like .90 cents or $1.25. You think you're getting a deal when it goes on clearance for $3. They still get double or triple their money back.Shipping overseas is expensive also. I do tend to overspoil my dogs and do overspend. It's an addiction of love for me I guess lol. Sometimes I have to take a break and say NO NO NO. Genie |
I go thro the same thing, I love to buy Pita clothes but I am not paying more for her clothes than I do for mine. I get some of them from ebay but there are some reasonably priced places out there. This lady, Reva, makes really good quality dresses and panties: http://queenbk9.smugmug.com You can also order from barkindogclothes.com for custom t-shirts, also www.lovelonglong.com has cheap stuff! Have fun! |
I know I wont pay those super high prices. I have gotten stuff at a reasonable price from ebay and from Joy. |
Cookie2 what's the name of you website? |

I have gone through a lot of the sites that are listed on Admins list of clothing sites and here are some that I have found to be pretty reasonably priced in case anyone is interested. I think I sorted them out pretty good but don't be mad at me if I accidentally add one that is outrageously priced :) Also, I haven't ordered from all of these so I don't know how their quality or service is. petedge.com petpails.com barkatme.com barkingdogclothes.com pup-n-stuff.com cosettescloset.com purecountrypetboutique.com spoiledyorkies.com elizapets.com pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com celebritypetwear.com sammysdoggycloset.com drsfostersmith.com jbpet.com petluvers.com thepuppyshop.com upco.com One more sight is doggy-gifts.com. I don't remember if they have clothes but I did buy some toys from there and they have free shipping with no minimum order!!! |
I agreed some places prices for dog clothing is just outrageous. I got a harness from Joy, ******************.com, and i consider her prices very affordable. I wouldnt buy a dress or any piece of clothing for $70, i wouldnt spent that much for me either. I guess is just me, I know others dont mind and that is ok. I just cant and wouldnt. If any find places with reasonable prices It wll be great if you share it for people like me. ;) |
Prices can be ridiculous! My prices are based on my fabric cost. I personally have a tendancy to like designer fabric & more expensive fabrics and faux furs. Even my regular clothes most of the fabric is well over $10 a yard so I have to charge a little more plus the time it takes to make. I also love crystals and boas which are expensive too. I hope I am not considered overprice. I try to be reasonable and still make a living. My stupid designer fabrics cost me $50 a yard. They used to cost half that but as demand goes up so does the price. SO it gets harder and harder to offer stuff at super low prices. And I hate shipping. I actually end up getting screwed on shipping alot and have to pay out of pocket. I had to raise my shipping prices. Because the stupid post office has delayed or lost so many packages I have to mail everything priority mail with tracking and some of my items I have to insure, which gets costly! |
PLease read :( I just want to say that this post hurts my feelings. I try so hard to give Yorkie talkers a bigger break on prices then anyone else and I dont think people understand how much fabric is. Sure you can find fabric for $2 a yard at walmart. BUt I like to make my items look unique. I am attracted to fabric with texture, color, sparkle...... all quality fabric that cost more. But in the end I have a unique style of dog clothes. Is $15-$30(which is actually $12-24 for YorkieTalkers) not reasonable for handmade unique dog clothes? I really am getting depressed here and need answers. |
Shana I think yoiur prices are very fair and you offer really cute items. There are some dog boutiques whose prices are extremely high though. I just got my heart clips I ordered from you by the way and they are just darling. Thanks |
Shanatink, nobody is pointing fingers at you! I think the reference was made towards resellers who mark things waaaay up, not people who make their own stuff. There are some outrageous prices being charged out there. Not that you are one of them! Everyone who orders from you raves about you! Please don't feel bad! Of course handmade stuff will tend to be more especially with designer fabric! Your site is great! You are more than reasonable and fair. Please don't be offended! |
Please don't feel hurt. I even said the people who are Yters who have sites have more reasonable prices. I wanted to order something from you but I can't figure out where to put the code in. |

I'm sorry, suzysmitt. It wasnt the initial post that hurt my feelings. I kinda gotmy feelings hurt that no one mentioned my store anywhere in the thread as being one of the reasonable ones. Someone even made a list of all the ones from the admins list of ones they thought were reasonable and I wasnt on it. Thats where I started getting depressed. I think I was just having one of those days. Sorry to be so whiny. Now I feel stupid because I know I was just being a baby. I guess everyone needs a little confidence sometimes :) . Sorry guys and thanks for making me fell better. I really appreciate it. :D |
