At the risk of sparking some controversy....Situations/breeders such as yours are only adding fuel to the sparks of Animal Rights Activists, not Animal Welfare Groups, that are attempting (with some success) to put anti-breeding/mandatory spay/neuter legislation in place.

The breeder I bought the pup from paid for the stud srvice she didn't know the sire had the reccesive gene until I brought it to her attention and she asked the owner of the sire and she is the one who told her that the sire carried this gene but the pups coat will grow in normal it just take a little longer. Live and learn the hard way I guess. I really appreciate everyones input. Does anyone have any info. on a good quality breeder? I live in pgh. PA. If I can figure out how to put a picture of my pup on I will to let you know what she looks like.

I don't know where you are in your journey to becoming a responsible breeder, but we all start somewhere.

I'm so sorry the person your breeder obtained stud service from was not more forthcoming in revealing the background of the sire. That is one of the steps in being a responsible breeder. Both the sire and dam owners should be honest with the genetic make-up of both dogs.

Your lil girl should not be bred.

There are some very responsible breeders in your area. However, you'll have to pay your dues up front and it's a long road. Most will not just sell a breeding dog to just anyone without knowing them on a personal level.

There so great breeders in the Eastern Seaboard, on the downfall of that, you live in Amish country (well known for being puppy mills and breeding indiscrimantely). Have you attended any seminars or dog shows?

no I haven't do you know of any in the pittsburgh area or where I can go to find some info. on them

There is a website called infodog.com. It's a great site for obtaining show information. There are other dog show superintendents, I'm not familiar on who handles the east coast, but'll look into it. Anyway dog shows are a great place to learn about the breed, meet exhibitor/breeders.

ok, now I might not have any idea what i'm talking about but here it goes, if you go on the page that your reading go up to you see my name goldenrun on the left click on that, then a page pops up and there is a picture of sophie and her sister on the right hand side under album. Now if that don't work I will try to to post it.

I'll try and do my best. Go to post reply. Go down to Attach Files, Manage attachments. The manage attachment screen will pop up. Click on browse and add pictures. (You may have to reduce them if they are too large.) Click on upload after they are selected and then on the bottom of the screen, it will say close, then click on post reply. Hope this makes sense..
