When your yorkie is dying How do you deal with the rude remark "oh, you can just get another one" I'm getting tired of hearing this! Plus it makes me cry. |
I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. What is your yorkie's name? People say a lot of stupid things when you are faced with loss. If you had lost your husband or child, they would say "you'll meet someone else" or "you can have another one." I think it's usually a misguided attempt to make you feel better. Sadly enough, they will experience their own losses and realize how inadequate these words are. |
I agree that they mean well. You really just have to ignore that remark - you know in your own heart just what your Yorkie means to you and that's what really matters. I wish you all the best. ((((Hugs)))) |
I'm so sorry you are going through this right now. It's not easy to lose a loved one, furry or not. Many people fill the void of losing a pet by getting another one, which takes their minds off of the lost one. But for me, if I ever lost Uni I don't think I could ever get another one. Hope you will pull through. Sending hugs. |
He's name is Buddy. He'll be 16 this coming Friday. Two weeks ago I found out that he has a mast cell tumor in his cheek(2nd time). The night before his surgery he had a stroke. But he is doing much better today. He even played ball twice today! |
People don't understand that this is a family member that's been with you for a long time. Some don't treat their pets as family. It's also hard to know what to say to help you cope with the loss. There's really nothing anyone can say to make us feel better, we just go on without. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my Dad. Just make him feel special, that's all you can do for him. You have friends here that understand and will help you through when the time comes. |
So sorry about your baby. He will never be replaced, but I do agree that sometimes another pup helps ease the pain. However, no one should expect you to be able to do that until YOU are ready & they certainly shouldn't make comments like that. I pray your Buddy's little body would be strengthened and that God will give you peace that passes all understanding. Hang in there! www.healthyhappypets.biz |

I've heard it in the past too, and all I wanted to do was smack them, but I'd just get up and leave the area. |
Do you want to post some pictures of Buddy, here or in an album? I would love to see him. If you are not up to it, that's okay too. |
I would love to see him too! :) |

I wud HATE anyone to say that to me and i wud be very upset and angry is someone even made a remark like that, as if my bailey could just be replaced... urm no i dont think so!!! I wud get them told that your dog is like ur baby and after 16 years u can not just replace him and that is it upsetting you that they are even saying that! Sorry if i seem harsh just i think i wud go mad if anyone said to me i could just replace bailey i think its rude and insensitive! Big hugs hun i am sorry about ur little one, enjoy the time u have left and try and rememeber all them wonderful times u spent together ~hugs~ xxx |
I am so sorry your Buddy is sick. I feel sorry for people who think they can be replaced because obviously they have never loved or been loved by a yorkie (or any pet) like we have. Just give Buddy extra hugs and I hope he has more good days ahead. |
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I know we will all have too at some point. You have had him for 16 years? How wonderful. I would say you gave him a wonderful life. He is a part of you and you can't replace him. In time you may want to give another pup some of the love you have. If not, you have been a wonderful mommy to him. God Bless you. I pray you have him for awhile longer. I have had my cat for 21 years, so I know the longer you have them, I believe the harder it will be to lose them. Just dwell on the wonderful times you have had together. That's great he was playing with his ball. :) |

It is extremely painful, if not more, in some circumstances. If I were you, i would tell these people, of yours the truth, let them know how you feel when they tell you that~! 16 years ago I lost a beloved kitty right in front of my eyes. I'll never forget him. The pain has lessened, however, the love i had for Mario I still feel for him lives on to this day. I am very sorry your going through this right now. I am glad your yorkie is feeling better right now, and hanging in there. :) |
